In a lot of the dailies, pairs were only as strong as their weakest link, so CT being better than Ty means nothing.
I have to re-watch Exes 1, it's been a while - though I really don't want to cause of Johnny & Camilla. But I thought Robin was actually a decent competitor that season - emotional - but did well. That was the only season I really didn't care for Mark - I felt like Robin could have really used the money. I also felt like he could have been a better friend to Rachel & Aneesa that season as well.
That being said, I'm glad he spearheaded this All Star season - it's been everything I've been missing <3 so I have to be sup[er grateful for that!

You're saying Diem was better because they won 2 missions--thanks to CT. Race to the Alter was about him eating, carrying her, digging and changing the tire. He literally pulled the parachute by himself on the jet mission. Let's just be honest for a second instead of trying to rewrite history and claim Diem (of all people) was ever even in the same league as Emily. Emily on her worst day is 10x better than Diem.
First off, the reason why Jenn kept making it to the end was because of her friends, her big mouth intimidating people, and production loved her. She was never even close to a good physical competitor. She even knew that. I felt about her the way people have begun to feel about Cara Maria in her last few seasons, she was this one big ball of negative energy. And she was just an obnoxious woman. I wouldn't be mad about seeing her on an All Stars, but I was glad she left the challenges when she did.
With that said, Mark is dead wrong for throwing and doing that to Robin. I think it's screwed up when people with partners do that. Evan did that to Nehemiah, which made me mad. It's selfish. And it shows the lack of respect the good old boys club of Johnny/Evan/Kenny and Mark had for everyone else and they walked around like they were kings in those days getting away with it. And I remember Robin was actually not bad on that Challenge.
From what I remember, Diem was doing good (not perfect, because I think she declined to even do something) during Exes I final due to her endurance and she was extremely good at those puzzles, like CT is now. Sorry, but endurance and puzzles are important in a final. I never saw Diem as up there with the greatest female competitors, but she was probably one of those competitors who is better for a final than an elimination. Emily is a beast, but I just don't think she had good chemistry with Ty like she had with Paula. It seemed like she had great chemistry with Paula as a partner. Sometimes it comes down to that too. Didn't Kam not have it with CT? And they are both great forces.

Honestly to me Mark is harmless. He's cool, personable, not particlarly interesting but overall a nice presence anytime he's on.
