People with views other than my own keep me honest and thoughful about my own views. It's always good to be informed by contrary points of view.
They want people to "educate themselves" on what Republicans do, but are okay strawman-ing the left as just being people who want to give free handouts to people, as if there isn't over a century of economic theory {which shows that the ones who get the handouts are coroporations, but ok)' that they could study.
It's naturally easier for the lazy to ignore the historical facts that led to current conditions (aka, the working class struggling paycheck to paycheck, having no direct power over their work, often working insane hours with no or terrible healthcare). Ignoring history allows them to blame all those struggles on the individual (since any type of systemic analysis is foreign to them??), and then they get to strawman people working for a better world as people looking for handouts. Gotta love it.
Increasing the min wage so people working for (and directly producing the profits of..) multil billion dollar corporations? Handouts!
Demanding a livable wage (Again, after producing billions of dollars of profit with THEIR LABOR?) - Handouts
Providing free higher education (as is done successfully in many countries) so that these same poor people, held back for lack of opportunity, can succeed {and, you know, improve society by being educated??) -Handouts! (the best part is when they then say something like "Obama succeeded, anyone poor can get to the top" - a wonderfully lazy analysis.
