Tony wants to be a part of that trifecta because he sees that they are the most adored and loved by the public. He wants to be that.

What has Tony done that remotely is close to what CT did for this franchise? Cheat, yell in female's faces, get black out drunk, do steroids and get fat, and make 1 final in 6 seasons in which he has won $0.

I don't hate Tony on the Challenge. He's a mess and he's a character I think adds to the show. He's not my favorite but I don't disagree with him being casted. By trying so hard to be like CT/Bananas/etc. though, he's done nothing but put himself in their shadow instead of making his own name for himself.
Tony has already made a name for himself in The Challenge world and he is one of the most respected of the new guys with a huge fanbase.
CT has taken Tony under his wing, and MTV is making him the next CT. Thats even why MTV paired them together for CvS.
There are even horror stories of him out there from people who have met him and same for some fans that have met CT while he was younger.
MTV even showed everyone looking scared when Tony showed up on FR and everyone on Vendettas and FR spoke of Tony as one of the best, and it seems everything prior to Vendettas is now ignored. He worked hard to get the respect he now has.
He's made a name for himself, sure. He's a more well-known character, sure. He's about average at best as a competitor, whereas CT was one of the best ever. That's the difference.
Despite his insanely inconsistent performances, Tony's a great character for the show. And when Bananas finally gets phased out, Tony will be a big reason why. Probably my favourite male regular atm

Oh please. You know MTV and their agenda. It doesn’t take the causals much to follow suit so they will exaggerate Tony’s reputation and make him something he’s not.
He’s only made one final (he was lucky the numbers were on his side) and has been less impressive than Hunter and Nelson. I might even put Cory over Tony too.
Tony could beat any of the Young Bucks in an elimination now.
Joss is a Young Buck also now. Cory and Nelson said hes a YB for life cause on the show he could have betrayed them but he always stuck by them and voted with them, and that MTV hardly showed how loyal Joss was to the YB alliance, part of the reason being he didnt like Bananas.
I’m just saying Tony is only the way he is now cause MTV probably told him he’s the next CT. Sure he’s improved from challenge flop to average competitor and I can’t deny he’s a good character for the show.
But I will always be impressed more with Hunter and Nelson’s resume. Nelson was an unknown who was paired up with hated Amanda and Hunter was looked at as any other hated AYTO cast member at the time. Yet they both showed more competitively than Tony.
Cory and Tony were in the same mold that they were popular on their original RW seasons but Cory was way more impressive on the challenge than Tony to start.
I don't think Tony was ever bad as a competitor. In his early season he wasn't bad competitvely and he was only kicked off for injuries/getting out of control.
Cory started off very strong and degressed with time. Tony is the opposite. Tony is now on par with Joss etc.

Listen, it's cool that you love Tony. Everyone has their favorites. But at least be realistic about their abilities. Tony is average. He is slightly below Cory (but I'd put them in the same category), Nelson and Hunter are a tier above that, and Joss is above that
