mmm i’ve seen a few episodes. before each round, they’ll show like a few minutes about the persons background and how theyre training and everything. very american idol-esque. then you either advance to the next round and if you don’t finish the course then you’re time is up right there. some people will get brought back though for a second chance or to defend their title

Yes there are regulars that are on every season and there are also always rookies. Before they compete if a athlete has a good story they show a package of them in their hometown or wherever they are traveling
