THE OPENING CREDITS OF BATTLE OF THE SEXES, THE GAUNTLET, AND THE INFERNO

The greatest intros ever. No further explanation needed. Just go watch them.

Cara

I remember a lot of people hated her back in the day but I found her hilarious! Her one-liners were everything on Gauntlet 2 especially when she said "I wasn't laughing at you....ok maybe I was a little bit" after Danny accused her of laughing and her fight with Aneesa was GOLD. "I don't really understand Aneesa and her personality and the way she screams things and....how she dresses." I like how she just didn't give a **** about anything. I feel like I was the only one who rooted for her during the Cara vs. Kina rivalry. It was so funny how after their elimination, Kina came up to Cara and tried giving her props but Cara basically told her that she was a horrible captain. Then Kina left the room in a *****y way and Cara laughed and said "How old is she again?" hahaha the way she threw shade was just epic to me. I wish she did more challenges. I also think she is one of the prettiest girls in Challenge history.

I didn't see this thread until now somehow, but I have loved almost every entry! Especially digging the love for BOTSeasons & BOTSexes & Inferno (and the mentions of the other golden era seasons/moments)!

Shout Out/Message T-Shirts

At least one shirt has been mentioned in a previous post, but I LOVED the shirts some of the cast members would wear on these challenges! They kind of go hand in hand with the "who has kept in touch from other seasons" that we miss. The ones that first come to mind are "Melissa Will Kill You" which showed how tight her and Coral were (which we knew based on their blogs and such back in the day, and the duo of "Where's Shane?" and "Where's Rachel" from our Campus Crawl season. It was a nice little touch because these people knew that we missed their friends too!

Melissa vs. Julie - Battle of the Sexes 1

We were but LITERALLY 5 minutes into the season. We were just coming off arguably the most fun challenge to date still (BOTSeasons) and this was going to be such a nice first episode! Julie was "So glad you are here Ayanna!" after Ayanna had been kicked off their last Challenge they did together which Julie took hard and lobbied for Ayanna to stay on. Then in comes Melissa to the room, and for maybe .05 seconds we think we're about to have the RW:NO BFF reunion. But.... BUT... because Melissa is a TRUE Real World legend and knows what we like (REAL non-manufactured drama) she comes in with the "I wanna talk to you" in the tone that we know this is not going to be a nice talk. Cue Ayanna "No drama! Mary J. Blige!" Then vroooom she speeds out of the room, because Ayanna is one of the smartest people who has ever been on the show. Everything in the next 2 or so minutes was PERFECT TV. If you have or have not seen this, check the transcript below, and head over to Youtube to see this moment.

Melissa (to Ayanna): "Oh there's no drama!!!"

Melissa: I just wanna let you know that....

Music in background *"LISTEN TO ME"*

Melissa: I don't like you, we're not friends.... because I find you to be very dishonest?

Julie: Did I do anything yet to offend you? Did i do anything...

Melissa: YET?! The past two years of my life!

*Confessional - Melissa*: Basically, Julie and I were friends, she did some shady business stuff to me. I didn't appreciate it. Once you go messing with my money, you go messing with my emotions.

Melissa: And you know, you've got your smug little smile on and you think it's all cute.. it's NOT.

Julie: I don't know what to do for you hun!

*Confessional - Julie* A lot of the cast members have gotten involved in college lectures. About a year ago, a college chose to hire me to do a lecture at their school over Melissa, and Melissa got really upset about that.

Melissa: You're a backstabber, and you're a liar.

Julie: OK well then why are you still talking to me? If you hate me so much?

Melissa: BECAUSE I WANNA LETCHA KNOW!

*Confessional - Melissa*: Julie is someone who is soooo greedy when it comes to money, she called this ******* school talking about "Melissa doesn't sign autograph, Melissa doesn't do this, Melissa doesn't do that. AND her fee is too much. BUT I'LL DO IT!"

Melissa: You're an *******, and I don't want anything to do with you. I want you to keep my name out of your ******* mouth. And I want you to stay the **** away from me.

Julie: Do you wanna talk anymore? Becuase, I was going to go with dan to the pool.... Unless you wanted to talk some more...

*RECORD SCRATCH*

This then set the tone for the Women's Inner Circle to make their first controversial (but certainly not last) elimination, sending Julie home, as Melissa was one of 4 (due to partners) women in the Inner Circle.

The Ibis/Veronica vote

This moment was ICONIC. In my opinion it is one of the single greatest deliberation moves of the entire franchise.

Veronica had come back to the challenge after a 5 year absence and was definetly an outlier on her team because of how long she had been gone. The JEKD and Fresh Meat alliance had overwhelmingly majority on almost every season and when Veronica came back she knew she was out numbered. She slept with Evan which came in handy during this vote because Evan just couldnt vote in his girl.  The 6 people in the inner circle couldnt break the tie so the ENTIRE champions team came in and had to vote. It was so funny seeing Syrus be like "Wait can I ask my team?" and TJ was like "Nope!" then Derrick even voted for Ibis and they were on the same original season! They went through the entire line and Veronica ended up being the last person to vote. She was so happy and ha that evil smile and laugh and sent Ibis into the ruins. It's funny because every confessional before the deliberation was "Veronica is going in!" and then Ibis gets sent in ****.

I'm glad Veronica got one last laugh before she retired and ended her challenge career.

The Veronica being on the outs during that season, is the first thing I think of when a few old schooler names get brought up to be on a challenge when they havent been on one in awhile. I see them being on the outs.

That Ibis/Veronica vote is one of my all time favorite moments. Veronica's smirk during that scene is just perfect.

Exactly. Adding the fact that if they do come on they never competed in challenges to this degree. They are already at a disadvantage. I don't see Coral being dominant at all.

THE GOOD GUYS(INFERNO 2)Loved this team. Had alot of my faves on it and I'm also a good guy myself so naturally I'd take to them. This team was fun, and competed well. Not to mention had a good strategy as far as who to pick for the Inferno. Choosing who to pick based on what the other team does is a good move(To this day I hate that Jodi let them get to her. If I were her I'd give them the finger.) and also, they were entertaining. Robin/Julie delivered and then Jamie/Shavonda ******* with Tonya in that one mission, then Mike Being Miz etc. They kinda had a hard road as they went on losing streaks and lost alot of their team along the way whittled down to 4 at the final challenge. But they got the win as they were able to work together better than the Bad *****. Sdie Note: This was Mike's Swan Song as he left MTV for the WWE.But yeah....great team. Love them.

Honestly this team was the best finals team. They had 3 males that are arguably top 10 males in challenge history.

Agreed and Brad was a solid competitor himself, moreso compared to Ruins/Cutthroat Brad. Good Guys from Inferno 2 is still my favorite team of all time. The GG on Inferno 3 were a terrible joke compared to them.

Wes vs Backpack (The Ruins)

I've grown tired of their rivalry over the years and I think most of it is played for show now, but **** did they really despise each other here on the Ruins. It started when the Champions wanted to throw in Ev against KellyAnne and Wes and Ev weren't cool with it. They both proceed to lose their shit when the vote doesn't go there way. But I made this entry simply for one moment.

Backpack: You have made no effort to try to make amends.Wes: Oh man, you're such a *****.(Wes walks away for a moment while Backpack is holding a water bottle)Wes: YOU'RE SUCH A *****! (while he charges back at Backpack)(Backpack flinches and spills some of his water)Wes: AHAHAHAHA!Backpack: Are you ******* kidding me?Wes: What a little *****! I CAN'T WAIT TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!!!

It was satisfying for me because Backpack was absolutely silent and had no response for Wes after the last line. Also props to Ibis for getting Backpack to shut his mouth a couple of episodes later. Something people on the challenges don't do nowadays.

Gonna make some more entries in this *****...

LANDON AND CARLEY WINNING FRESH MEAT 2.

This was one of the only good things about that season. Landon retired after this season too which was awesome because he went out on a win which is always the best way to go out IMO.

I'm still so dead at Landon and Carley beating Laurel/Kenny. L & K were so dominant the entire season and for Landon to carry Carley's lifeless *** up that mountain was amazing. Proves he is an all time great Smile

Yeah and he should have won the Duel 2 and get his perfect 4/4 record. Pretty funny to think he's only appeared in sequel challenges.

Inferno 2 was my overall favorite challenge!!!

Mine too, mickey. Speaking of which:

The Inferno 2 (Season 10)

This is my favorite challenge. I go back and forth between this and The Inferno as my #1 but I loved absolutely everything about the Inferno 2. The Good Guys vs Bad ***** format was always my personal favorite and the teams actually were picked correctly here. Plus both teams had some of the top players of the challenges so both teams were evenly matched even if the Bad ***** were winning more missions to start.

Aside from Jon, who always gets eliminated in the first episode, every castmember brought something memorable to this challenge. The drama was entertaining. Like Tonya throwing Beth's clothes into the pool, Robin and Tonya arguing over Mark and Tonya saying "call me a ***** or call me a ****, but don't call me a liar." Beth vs Veronica. Abram fighting with Tina and going crazy by throwing a glass out the window. The Bad ***** going after Jodi after she voted in Veronica. Landon and Derrick getting in a drunken fight and Derrick bleeding from his ear and then he proceeds to shave the middle of Landon's curly hair. Miz giving Brad a wedgie and the classic lines by Brad, "Here we go! NOW IT'S A NECKLACE!!" and "Congratulations son, you're a meathead." And that wasn't everything that happened that season.

The missions also led to some great moments like Julie trying to go for the Lifesaver and saying to herself "the path to victory is straight and narrow." Which led to her immediately falling into the water. The dodgeball mission where Karamo refused to participate because he hated being in cold water. The heart rate bungee challenge where Jamie and Shavonda got into Tonya's head. Plus it had one of the best elimination rounds ever between Brad and Abram that was so intense that even nice guy Darrell wanted to fight Abram after Brad lost.

The final challenge also delivered as my favorite team the Good Guys won it all, Tina and Tonya both lose it for the Bad ***** and one of the challenge greats, The Miz, gets a nice exit as he goes out on top. I loved Inferno 2 because there never was a dull moment and it's the only season that I would rewatch when MTV aired episodes (the days when they actually replayed episodes on tv). It was also the last challenge we got a host that wasn't TJ Lavin. RIP Dave Mirra. I wish I had recorded these episodes back then because I never get tired of rewatching it.

Jon was the only weak cast member.

male cast member anyways. i can't recall if there were any weak female cast members on I2.

can anyone refresh my memory Smile

I love me some Cara.

Landon was exactly what was great about the (old school) Challenges. He was fun-loving, down to party, had fun/was nice with mostly everyone, only had drama (but very rarely) over THE GAME not pointless drama, and on top of that, he was overall the best competitor the Challenge has ever seen. On top of that, he's actually a sane, normal person whose life didn't revolve around the Challenge like Bananas. He definitely should've won The Duel 2 as well, instead of Brad getting lucky and then blowing the final to Evan. I'll remember him as the all time GOAT (sorry Bananas), and one my favorites for being a normal, nice guy.

male cast member anyways. i can't recall if there were any weak female cast members on I2.

I think Shavonda was the only weak girl, she was cool though

JONNA

When I first saw Jonna it was on a little show called Endurance on discovery kids, If you told me then that someday she would end up being on one of my favorite tv franchises I wouldn't have believed you. I love seeing people that were on one show be on another different show for some reason and I was estatic to see Jonna on RW Cancun when the cast for that season was first announced. SHe didn't dissapoint either..she was a great character and when she got on the challenges she was great too..well on her first two appearnces. On Rivals she and Jasimine had a good run as rookies and she establised herself as one to return in the future, She then appeared on Seasons 2 where she had a romance with shithead Zach which I'm sure she regrets and also had a good run there almost making the final challenge. Then she was irrelevant on her next two challenge appearances then had a horribe storyline on Exes 2 with cumrag Zach, He treated her like shit and it was hard to watch because Jonna didn't deserve that at all. Jonna has always been a bit boy crazy and I think she allowed that to let her get in the way of her game on these things a bit. I also think that she had a big of a self-esteem problem and she tends to be a bit p***ive but she was cool overall. She's got a man and a kid now so it's unlikely that she'll return but I hope she does because i'll be a shame that she left on that Exes 2 note.

Jonna's a bit of a special case for me because I feel like I grew up with her..first seeing her as this 13/14 year old kicking *** on endurance to getting on RW and the challenge then seeing her have a kid of her own..It kinda feels like seeing someone come full circle and that you grew with them through everything. it's crazy honestly lol.

I also loved her unaired spat with Trishelle on Seasons 2 and her spanking Sarah's *** in that unburied elimination on Rivals 1. The latter moment was cl***ic IMO.

It was so funny seeing Sarah brag about the elimination beforehand because it was puzzles and then she proceeds to lose to 2 rookies. As good of a competitor Sarah can be, she also can be the ultimate fail

FREE AGENTS

I loved this season so much. It had great missons and eliminations along with crazy drama and a stellar cast.

The cast was so diverse I loved it. We had so many black people and a lot of them killed it. Latoya had a great rookie debut, Preston had his underdog storyline, Nia/Leroy hooked up, Jasmine was the season THOT, Aneesa and Jonna had the votes stacked against them, and Devyn skated her way to the final again like a boss. In addition to the diversity a lot there were a lot of fresh faces which is always a bonus. Laurel returned, Cohutta and Issac came back after 5 years, and Emilee was just...laughable at best(who remembers her trying to punch the wall ****)

The eliminations and challenges were cool. I loved the challenge "strike a pose" or something like that where they had to tie themselves up and not touch the ground, "Auto body rally", the one with the inflatable balls, sasuage party, and others. A lot of the challenges werent extremely hard which is good in my opinion because theres no point in making things unnescarily difficult. It had a lot of old school similarites with the challenges. Also the elimination rounds were awesome. Looper was super crazy and hard which made Nia vs Cara even more epic. Wrecking wall and the puzzle elimination were cool too. One thing I loved is the draw and the unpredictability there was. People like Zach, Laurel, CT, and Bananas actually had to go into elimination instead of skating to the end. I feel like they defintely deserved the final.

Lastly, the final challenge was awesome. It was a good mix of extreme and not overly complicated in my opinion. The stages were pretty neat with them trying to guess which city is the most north and south. Also the biking stages was a realisticly good portion because biking that much isnt extreme but not easy too. I will admit having to climb up the snowy mountain was a bit extra but whatever. Lets not forget that Zach lterally CRIED while climbing and Nany flipped her shit when she saw a tarantula. I still love seeing Laurel shade Zach on twitter about him crying because a cramp. I will give credit where credit is due and although I dont like bananas he did deserve to win that season because he went into three eliminations and got a lot of daily mission wins. He wasnt carried like in the JEK days. Laurel winning was impressive too because Zach dragged her down a lot and seeing Nany almost win was cool too. Not to forget Queen Devyn had that great underdog story during the final and pushed through to the top of the mountain.

Free Agents was a really good season; better than the duel 2 by far.

Totally agree. This season had great competition too, had some great storylines and drama, but wasn't completely focused on the drunk drama like on Rivals 3 (some episodes felt like there was no competition at all). Everyone deserved the final except (sorry) Johnny and Devyn, but they still did amazing.

Just goes to show that production doesn't need to focus on all the extra drama like Rivals and Exes to make an interesting show. I feel like they focus on it so much with Skeletons, Ex-plosion, Exes, Rivals, it's like enough! These shows and people would be more interesting without all the stupid drama themes. We've had way too many and it's played out. Individual challenges and team challenges are sorely missed, and I pray that Season 29 is one or the other.

Yes @ the Free Agents love. It’s one of my all-time-favorite challenges and one of the last good ones we’ve had in a while. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since that season aired—time flies. It was also the last season to give us no crapshoot eliminations like the current ones. Here’s to hoping season 29 is Free Agents 2.

Has anyone made a post on Exes 2? I loved that season because there wasn't really any drunk petty fights it was all about the game which I loved.

Also Theresa vs Nany and Nia vs Nany was everything. I'm team Theresa!
