If you see where TJ announces the rules of The Duel, Tina is noticeably thrilled that it's everyone for themselves. Later on though after she was sent home, she basically said that she decided to just leave & take a swipe at Beth on her way out because it would have been too difficult to make it far without any alliances.
Tina was hilarious and had some amazing one-liners. I also wish she stayed longer on The Duel. It sucks that was Tina's last challenge because I would've liked to see her go out on top.
I noticed Rachel, Veronica and Tina appeared on later challenges without each other (Rachel - The Duel II, Veronica - The Ruins, Tina - Cutthroat) and I wish those three were on the same season with Evan, Kenny and Johnny so they could've showed those guys how the game is really played. I never understood WHY they did that exactly because had they all come back together they could've easily overthrown JEK. The only reason that I could think of is that it was speculated that Veronica/Rachel were beefing at the time; their secret relationship had come to an end but they ended up becoming friends again somewhere down the line. Whether it was before or after Cutthroat I don't know.
I also wondered why Coral came back by herself on Gauntlet 3 but unlike the others, she thought she had Evan & possibly CT (and she did have Katie & made up with Beth).

You made a good decision to watch Seasons 1. It's the single best challenge that was ever produced imo and it gets better and better each episode. This will be one of your favorite challenges by the time your through with the season.
BOTSeasons and those earlier seasons because while there was drama, it was natural drama and game-based. And back then, yes there were crazy **************, but in general everybody was pretty normal and laid-back. Like, the people like Stephen, Holly/Chadwick, etc. were ******** but we KNEW they were ******** and rooted against them. Now, it seems like pretty much everybody is kind of an ********o it's hard to really root for people, even those I like.
Plus, the cast had so much fun together. Most people recognized it was just a game (even Coral!) and wanted to have a good time without taking it too seriously. It's so funny watching those episodes and seeing people sitting down, eating dinner, and discussing things like real people. It almost seems like it could just be my friends and me all on vacation together. Those were the days. But on some level, shit that happened on this season set the stage for what's to come (voting out the threats, Veronica changing her game strategy, etc.). It really was awesome (BOTSexes was, too.)

Putting all chiefs & no Indians on one team spells disaster for the bickering Bad ***** though, who never quite seem to get their shit together. CT & Derrick shave a patch into Landon’s head, resulting in a most unfortunate haircut. After Beth reveals to Robin that Mark has hooked up with Tonya, Robin goes on the attack, resulting in Tonya retaliating by throwing Beth’s clothes & possessions into the pool. Beth quits the game soon after. High Point-The unholy trinity of The Mean Girls is formed as Veronica, Rachel & Tina belittle & ostracize a clearly manic Tonya. Yes, it’s sometimes well, mean, but it’s not as if Tonya doesn’t ask for it. Brad gets drunk & goes full bro-Hulk in the back of a van after a night of team clubbing which results in the classic “Now it’s a necklace” line as The Miz gives him the ultimate wedgie. I agree and I do think that's one thing that doesnt get talked about alot..there's not alot of people who are likable and rootable on these shows now and that wasn't the case back then. You did have you villians and such but you had people who were normal and likable and whom you wanted to win. I think that hurts this show because you need people that the audience can get behind and this show is in VERY short supply of that right now.
And I agree that the drama was much better back then too. It was interesting and fun to watch and lasted more than a few minutes of an episode. And the game drama was on point too.

I really should have given Seasons 1 a straight A. There were really no downsides to it. When Veronica & Beth are the first to leave & the season is still outstanding, you know the show is doing something right.

He really did though when you think about it. I think the reason it seems like he did more is because he did most of them back to back (He appeared on Gauntlet/Inferno/Sexes 2/Inferno 2 all in a row) so it kinda seems like he had a long run but in reality he only did like one challenge more than Landon( whom only did 4). The Mean Girls vs. JEK (The Mean Girls part 2), and just like the movies, the orignal was by far superior.
The Mean Girls vs JEK...3 ****** queens vs 3 obnoxious, toothbrush-wielding ********. No contest.
Some say this is the last cl***ic challenge season before things took off in a new direction. Veterans face Rookies as the series introduces MJ & the lovely Jillian into the mix. While the Vet team seems stacked, it’s the Rookies who overpower their more experienced opponents. Kina bounces back from a lackluster run on Sexes 2 & holds court as the Rooks female captain, while Derrick also impresses as he proves himself a major player making it all the way to the last mission before the finals as Vet team captain before losing to Timmy. A new, stronger Susie also returns & forges a tight bond with Cara that will later prove fishy as rumors of an alliance with the Vets will alienate them from their team. Aneesa rails Cara with an epic tirade that leaves the Playboy bunny speechless. G2 marks Julie, Montana & Jisela’s final appearance. High Point-Beth shocks her Vet team by kicking Ruthie’s *** in reverse tug of war & claiming female team captain. Her revived rivalry with Montana also makes for some juicy moments. Danny clashes with the Rookie team & directs some hilarious venom towards Cara & Jodi in particular, before losing pathetically to Alton in the Gauntlet. Low Point-Cameran proves she is just very pretty scenery as she votes herself into the Gauntlet & refuses to even compete against Kina in the 2nd episode. Beth also cheats the viewers out of a much anticipated match-up against Aneesa when she declines to play ball brawl & goes home. Ego-inflated Kina beating Jillian in the last elimination is also heartbreaking considering it should have been Ibis to leave. Historical Moment-Out of nowhere, San Francisco Jo appears on the cast, secures female rookie team captain status & then promptly flips out at the partying antics at Mark’s birthday bash, threatens to call the cops & leaves the show on her second day, marking the shortest stint of the series with the biggest blaze of glory left in her path. TJ Lavin makes his debut as host. B+

I really should have given Seasons 1 a straight A. There were really no downsides to it. When Veronica & Beth are the first to leave & the season is still outstanding, you know the show is doing something right.
I remember wanting to leave work early in 2002 every week so I could race home to watch Seasons live.
And yes, Elka is definitely one of the most beautiful girls the show ever had.
Inferno 2 was a excellent challenge.
It's really weird how it feels like Miz did so many challenges but he really did have a short run.
He really did though when you think about it. I think the reason it seems like he did more is because he did most of them back to back (He appeared on Gauntlet/Inferno/Sexes 2/Inferno 2 all in a row) so it kinda seems like he had a long run but in reality he only did like one challenge more than Landon( whom only did 4). And I also think another reason is he made it to the end on all but one of the shows he was on aswell so it's seems like he's been around longer.
Yeah same, weird to think Jillian, Susie, and Landon are in the same boat as Miz.
Eh didn't like the miz at all so I don't have a problem with this.
I always found it funny that Landon was the one who started the wedgie both him and Jodi admitted it but Brad didn't care lol.
The Mean Girls vs. JEK (The Mean Girls part 2), and just like the movies, the orignal was by far superior.

The Gauntlet II
Some say this is the last cl***ic challenge season before things took off in a new direction. Veterans face Rookies as the series introduces MJ & the lovely Jillian into the mix. While the Vet team seems stacked, it’s the Rookies who overpower their more experienced opponents. Kina bounces back from a lackluster run on Sexes 2 & holds court as the Rooks female captain, while Derrick also impresses as he proves himself a major player making it all the way to the last mission before the finals as Vet team captain before losing to Timmy. A new, stronger Susie also returns & forges a tight bond with Cara that will later prove fishy as rumors of an alliance with the Vets will alienate them from their team. Aneesa rails Cara with an epic tirade that leaves the Playboy bunny speechless. G2 marks Julie, Montana & Jisela’s final appearance. High Point-Beth shocks her Vet team by kicking Ruthie’s *** in reverse tug of war & claiming female team captain. Her revived rivalry with Montana also makes for some juicy moments. Danny clashes with the Rookie team & directs some hilarious venom towards Cara & Jodi in particular, before losing pathetically to Alton in the Gauntlet. Low Point-Cameran proves she is just very pretty scenery as she votes herself into the Gauntlet & refuses to even compete against Kina in the 2nd episode. Beth also cheats the viewers out of a much anticipated match-up against Aneesa when she declines to play ball brawl & goes home. Ego-inflated Kina beating Jillian in the last elimination is also heartbreaking considering it should have been Ibis to leave. Historical Moment-Out of nowhere, San Francisco Jo appears on the cast, secures female rookie team captain status & then promptly flips out at the partying antics at Mark’s birthday bash, threatens to call the cops & leaves the show on her second day, marking the shortest stint of the series with the biggest blaze of glory left in her path. TJ Lavin makes his debut as host. B+

Thanks to your reviews I watched the original Battle of the Seasons and I'm working on Battle of the Sexes right now. I've loved every minute of it.
