The Challenge: Battle of the Exes 2 - Ratings

I feel like a Free Agents type format is upon us again. I mean if they are trying to shake things up, why go with a past theme or format? Why not try something new and unconventional again? Maybe bring back the scorboard or something, but incorporate eliminations too.

As for casting. I just see more Rookies. The new regulars. And old school cast members but like a handful to replace the possibly absence of Wes & CT. I don't see many Old School girls but more so guys since they seem more willing to show up. Just my thought.

I think people on here need to realize that no matter what BMP do all of us here are gonna watch anyway. We are like the super fans I guess so 99.99 percent of the time we are watching no matter what. That's why they don't cater to us and that's why they cater to casual viewers.

Well I mean why does it have to be one or the other? They could cater to both. It's doable.

Cause people here complain about everything. Even when BMP do something we want most of us on here complain to no end (wanting new people= BOTS, no alliances = Free Agents) Then others throw out names like Kefla, Eric, Sahar that no one wants to see. Everyone on here has a completely different taste of what they want we each could create our dream challenge and it would be entirely different so even if BMP tried to cater to us it would be tough since what we all want is different. Casual viewers are easier give them drama, some competition, big names and a good theme and they are set.

Them catering to both is what most people want (at least the people who've been watching since the old days). If they can get that right then they'll be moving in the right direction for real.

If not, I won't be watching shit. The only reason I watched this challenge & Free Agents is because of Nia & the other new people.

I think the ratings have been great, especially since it airs at midnight for most people "on a Tuesday!" on MTV which is so random. It airs at 8 p.m. for me so I don't have to deal with that foolery.

The Viacom execs don't agree with you, and, frankly, their opinions are the only ones that count (and maybe some stockholers, too, who tend to be vocal at the annual stockholder's meeting -- March 16, 2015 at 1111 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, Florida, beginning at 11:30 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time) .

Good news, though:  it appears there will be another challenge season (unless there is a cancellation forced on MTV from above), and the casting for it may be very different than any other, and include no one outside the RW/RR/Fresh Meat family.

Ooooooooooooooo.....good news indeed!

Anyone that thinks Free Agents didn't include alliances is...well, clueless

Well it was an an attempt to rid alliances as much as possible and I think it fared well since the last few challenges were basically all about alliances. No matter the format there will always be alliances.

They have never catered to both and probably never will and look you are still watching so my point is proven. Not trying to sound like a **** but it's true me along with 99 percent of people on here will watch no matter what they do.

It didn't eliminate alliances AT ALL

Yep. Jordan vs. Bananas was all based on alliances, but FA at least gave us some elimination rounds that naturally wouldn't have happened in any other format.

I think it did to a point. Like someone else said it gave us matchups we wouldn't normally see. Plus people that normally wouldn't go into elimination rounds early if any at all because of alliances had to go in due to the card. Then with the different teams every challenge I think it did as best as it could trying to keep alliances apart. Obviously its not gonna eliminate it completely like I said.

It actually made alliances more important.

Name the matchups that were somehow shocking...especially early on

I think Frank/Cara Maria and Zach wouldn't have seen an elimination round that early. All three went in with a pretty solid number of friends being there with them.

^^^ Compared to BOTS, Rivals 1 and 2 alliances on Free Agents were muchhhhhhh less.

Yeah there's no way to completely eliminate alliances unless they pull a Big Brother UK and say they can't talk about nominations at all lmao.

Free Agents did a good job with splitting up groups so they can't all vote together and control the entire season *stares at red team on Cutthroat*. I liked how a lot of people voted individually which caused a lot of split votes. I wish the kids on Big Brother would learn to stop voting with the house all the time.

Sadly, as predicted (but not until next month), the ratings have taken the axe to their first victim in the Viacom/MTV management chain.  Everything and everyone is at risk.

Oh Snap!

Not good. Hope the guy bounces back. Wonder if more heads wll roll?

Episode 7 ratings:

Damn.

Damn.

Better than any other MTV show lol Atleast they have been consistent and doavobe average on the 12-30 demographic.

Thats true. But I was hoping for an increase with that cliffhanger they pulled last week.

I have hope though that Viacom can turn it around.

It sucks people are losing their jobs but I think its for the best. After talking to someone I think it would be cool if MTV kinda became like HBOGo and really got into the subscription/online streaming.

Obviously they are struggling with ratings across the board so trying something new would help. Creating online series. Maybe bringing back Road Rules and have it only online. Making this Exile thing a bigger online deal. Having past shows and challenges available to watch at any time. So I'm excited to see what they do.

It did go up a little , it was at 752 last week.

No one is happier than Bananas.

MTV's problem remains they focus on 12-20 instead of 24-34...for an 11pm show early teens aren't the target

Why? Even when Bananas was on the show it was getting about the same ratings. So his absence IMO hasn't affected the ratings.

mhmmm this episode did better than 2 episodes with bananas in it and almost the same as another episode with him. Only 3 episodes of this entire season so far have done better than this week.

MTV is struggling as a whole not just in the 12-20 demographic.

MTV is struggling as a whole because they're trying to focus on 12-20 which hurts them with everyone else
