I actually didn't mind the Friday The 13th remake/reboot... I thought it was well made and stylized to perfection. The first 20 minutes was like horror movie gold. The rest was okay.. at least it wasnt an exact remake and sort of borrowed upon different plots from the best of the series.
I may be the only one, but i'm excited for Part 2 (please be set in winter!) and the TV series that is in the works hahaha
EDIT: Not to mention Dunes also made the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is one of my fav horror movies ever (the remake, not the original)... that scared the living bejeesus out of me when I was a kid. Hiding in the carcass of the cow was terrifying!!
I enjoyed Friday The 13th, it was fun, but very generic. No character development, like in the original. The Texas Chainsaw Remake was amazing. I will give you that! Jessica Biel was awesome. But A nightmare on elm street (my personal favorite) was a huge let down. Also, like I said Friday the 13th was fun, but I know true horror fanatics who hated it.
Horror movies back in the 70's and 80's (at least the originals) had depth and legit scares, not just jump out of your seat scares.
I don't know... I don't believe in messing with horror classics.
If Ghostbusters 3 gets shelved again, I wouldn't mind seeing it made into a series. Something still campy and fun, but darker and throws in some horror goodness and scares, it could work IMO!
You'd think that Hollywood would have more going for it in the script department than a mediocre Scream ripoff by another Party of Five alum, that fully hinged on the prowess of JLH's oft highlighted assets.

Hahahaha! I can't breathe for laughing so hard!
Between this and iPhone 7 Plus Plus, you're killing it today Bacchus!

It was hardly a ripoff as it predates Scream by 20 years...lol
If you are refering to the original book, it wasn't a slasher novel...
The screen adaptation was directly influenced by the unanticipated success of Scream, attempting to cash in on the revitalized teen horror genre. The only reason IKWYDLS movie exists is because of Scream.

Doesn't make it any less of a good slasher? So what if it was cashing in on the success of Scream (which is one of the best slasher movies ever)... IKWYDLS was a great horror movie of the 90s like it or not. I'm not some tween that only likes the new stuff though.. I love horror movies from the 60s through to the 80s. I still consider those teen slashers of the 90s, responsible for putting horror movies back on the map, to be great companions to the rest of them. Heck I know i'll get a lot of backlash for this (even if I haven't already haha) but I believe the found-footage style horror movies of recent have put horror back on the map as well... after that long period of torture **** movies ended (not saying those were bad either, but way over done) a new style (or at least a style rarely used) was just what we needed to scare up a new youth of audiences... ( though FF are now the ones becoming tired haha) Who knows what's next!!
Everyone has different taste when it comes to horror though... especially since it breaks off into a hundred other sub-genres haha
I enjoyed IKWYDLS it wasn't an oscar worthy movie but it was fun for some scares! I never take these slasher movies too seriously. Scream really brought that back for the 90's. Who doesn't like a jump scare? I'm not a fan of the paranormal activities though. I was more confused than anything when I saw it.
Oh and I remember thinking the movie theater made a mistake in Scream because it started with a phone call that seemed like it was mid movie not beginning. One of the best opening sequences ever!

OMG IKWYDLS had an AMESOME cast though! Like what other horror movie had names like Ryan Phillippe, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. AMAZEBALLS! Idk how I feel about a remake but its definitely one of those movies that are close to my heart. The second one was okay, too! But without my baby Ryan I can't really love it.
Had to watch Hitchcock's Rope tonight in class. Loved it! Particularly the extensive use of long takes, it was initially jarring to watch what's essentially a single eighty minute scene, but then you really get into it. Maybe the story wasn't all that revolutionary, but the cinematography was awesome!
European Vacation is amazing. But c'mon now, Hollywood has to stop rebooting movies and come up with new stuff. If it's not a superhero movie it's a remake, sequel or prequel.

Basically, Warner Bros. is looking at this (andFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which I'm pretty damn excited about!) to fill the void left behind by Harry Potter. I'm not big into the Arthurian legends at all, but with Guy Ritchie behind it I'm willing to give it a chance, I loved what he did with Sherlock Holmes!
Anyone going to see The Maze Runner today? I've heard it was a decent YA adaption. I never got around to reading it, I'm pretty burnt out on all the dystopian stuff. Well, except for Maddaddam, I'm so damn excited for HBO's adaption of that series!

I want to go see it. I've been hearing great things about it. Plus I like Dylan O'Brien's acting.
My cousin saw it a few weeks ago and said she really liked it!! She's a huge fan of the books too so I trust her haha... i'll check it out maybe next weekend!! pretty busy with Homecoming shenanigans over the next couple days
I have [enormous] doubts about this shared universe that Universal is planning to build for it's monsters. But, I've heard great things about Fargo (I've never watched it, so I can't make a full decision yet), so I might be a little less skeptical... for now.
I haven't kept up with this one at all, but these posters caught my attention, particularly the first one, that tagline is awesome! Even though Nolan strikes me as a prick in real life, I do enjoy his movies (had to watch Memento in class the other night, I forgot how good it was!), so I'm willing to give this a shot. And it's been a while since I've watched anything on the IMAX screen!

Youre tripping. IKWYDLS is fire shit. Part3 not do much

WOW just noticed you said this OPD.. not impressed. IKWYDLS is 90s horror/slasher gold... that, Scream, and Urban Legend... get outta town! 90s<3

'Vacation' Reboot Begins Filming; Leslie Mann Joins the Cast
Hell yeah! Love Leslie Mann. I hope this is a worthwhile reboot!
Had to watch Hitchcock's Rope tonight in class. Loved it! Maybe the story wasn't all that revolutionary, but the cinematography was awesome!
Never been a fan of those movies. They just bored me to death.
Now THAT'S a remake I can get behind.

Christmas Vacation is a classic! Never got into the other ones though.
Christmas Vacation is my favorite Christmas movie ever. Love that film.
European Vacation is amazing. But c'mon now, Hollywood has to stop rebooting movies and come up with new stuff. If it's not a superhero movie it's a remake, sequel or prequel.
Amen. The lack of creativity is embarrassing. I think what Hollywood needs is for me to show 'em how it's done
Nothing wrong with sequels, prequels yes.
