Last year was the first time I got to go to TIFF and it was AMAZING... so worth all of the hype... Saw the premiere of Parkland (crap movie haha but it was awesome being one of the first few ppl in the world to see it... and I got to see Zac Efron/Colin Hanks/Paul Giamatti)
The other movie I ended up seeing was the second showing of 12 Years A Slave... So happy I chose that movie because 1. It ended up becoming Best Picture, 2. The whole cast showed up as a suprise for a Q&A session, and 3. I sat a couple seats over from Jason Sudeikis (lovee him!)
I hope Jake Gyllenhaal shows up for Nightcrawler.. its the day after the premiere so I have high hopes! haha... Otherwise Men, Women, and Children has a large ensemble that may show up.. and Eddie Redmayne could possibly be there for his potential Oscar nod movie "The Theory of Everything" (love him too! haha)
You should def try to get out to a film festival sometime!! They are lots of fun.. whether your a movie buff or just a star-gazer :)

I like the idea of voodoo, I just never seen it play out that much; the last horror movie I watched that used voodoo dolls is Childs Play

I went to the movies last Friday and saw Sin City. It was a let down seriously that's what the producers and director came out with after almost a decade? The stories were weak compared to the first ones. No wonder it tanked at the box office.

Watched "Let's Be Cops" today with pretty low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised... I had heard mixed to negative reviews, so I was gonna skip it at first.. but hey its cheap tuesday so I thought, why not? haha I actually laughed more than I thought I would and the action was pretty unexpected and good! It's mindless popcorn entertainment.. and the leads defintely have the comedic chops (though I still don't watch New Girl haha.. just can't do it).
So yeah, reccommended if you just want a fun movie to see with your friends! It won't be anything memorable and I probably won't watch it again.. but it was definitely good for a one time viewing.
Some of my favorite movies: (recent ones) Black Swan - I can watch it a million times and I'm still disturbed by it <--- I apparently enjoy crazy far more than I was aware - also really enjoy crazy people falling in love as evidenced by how much I LOVE Silver Linings Playbook - Anyone who hasn't seen it, you are missing something special!
Drive - Ryan Gosling was amazing in this - agree
Some I want to see:
Dallas Buyers Club
Rush
American Hustle
The Place Beyond the Pines -yes
Garden State
Argo
On Argo - I and my friends who saw the film with me lived through these events...we knew how it turned out, knew what was coming... and yet were on the edge of our seats - very well done! "Ar go *** yourself" carried on saying that to people for months after seeing it, didn't care if they understood either... still makes me giggle
Watching Good Will Hunting tonight in honor of Robin Williams. It's been about 15 years since I've seen it. I'd forgotten how good it is! Bonus: those sexy accents...
Awesome movie! Always find it amusing when people say it's a "sexy accent".... what accent? lol
My TIFF experience begins tomorrow!! I'll give you some reviews after I see them! Here's my final list (after just scoring one more pair tickets today! haha)
Saturday: Nightcrawler @ 12PM & The Riot Club (World Premiere) @ 9:30PM
Sunday: The Theory of Everything (World Premiere) @ 6:00PM
Monday: This Is Where I Leave You @ 11AM
Can't wait!! My goal is to meet Tina Fey... love her so much!! haha Let's do this!
Nightcrawler - If you want to win the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket.
Wow. Jake Gyllenhaal's latest film, where he stars as a freelance crime journalist, was definitely a crazy one. It was exciting and thrilling... you were never really sure if Lou (Jake) was about to snap or not. His performance was riveting! You could really tell how much he got into the roll.. not only physically (he lost 30 pounds for it) but also mentally. It almost makes you feel like you want to cheer for the villain, he's that good. I did find the pacing in the first half of the movie to be a little off.. almost started to drag a bit. But when it picks up... and oh boy does it pick up... the movie just takes off!! The second half was action-packed and the ending was insane.. even threw in a good twist! I was definitely left jaw-dropped and impressed. It won't win any awards (maybe a nod for Jake's performance), but it was definitely a good watch!
I am jealous. This is Where I Leave You looks really good.
Yeah, i'm really excited for that one tomorrow!!
The Riot Club - I am sick to death of poor people!!
Lone Scherfig's latest venture into the british class system takes a debaucherous turn in The Riot Club. The filthy rich posh boys of Oxford University admitted into the highly exclusive group are one of a kind. From the drunken initiations to wrecking havoc on the innocent lives around them, these boys are not ones to look up to... and the sad thing is, they will probably be the ones to grow up, take over their parents companies, and rake in more dough with little to no effort. The movie, itself a mock of how rich people think they can buy their way into anything (and for the most part they can), is fairly off-balanced in my opinion. While I know it's based on the famous play "Posh", I feel the transition into film didn't work out as they might have hoped. The film is split into two main events: Two new Oxford boys being introduced and inducted into the club, and a celebratory dinner party hosted on the outskirts of Oxford in a little family owned pub. The first half of the movie, feels like a movie... you slowly learn the ins and outs of this controversial secret society (also, a neat prologue of how it began)... the boys are very intelligent and extremely vile... very complex and interesting characters. Wheras in the second half, it felt more like a play, as the whole dinner party is played out in full. I felt both halves of the film were done extremely well, with great acting (especially from Claflin and Irons) and a script that really plays out how disdainful the club was/is... but together it didn't feel complete. The ending, wrapped up almost too quickly, left me with a sour taste in my mouth.. for one because things just worked out too perfectly and two because of how easily the rich kids were able to get away with the amount of rubbish they got up to (okay so the second point is probably more realistic, but it's still annoying :P). In conclusion, while the film did sway back and forth on the play/movie line, it was an excellent and controversial depiction of how sometimes something so alluring such as money and wealth, can be most disgusting of all.
Verdict: If you want to see rich people behaving badly, this is the one to see. ***
In Theatres: September 19th (U.K. & Ireland) - No US release date

I found It's Complicated & Bridesmaids funny, or you could take it old school - watch Young Frankenstien

i. love. anna. kendrick.
mitch202, are you seeing this at tiff?
This has been a blah summer of movies, but I do want to see "This is Where I Leave You."
Mitch is going to need his own forum for movie reviews.
I second that! It's likes he's writing a review in an essay format, that's going to be graded. Haha
LMAO.
I literally asked him earlier today if he had ever considered being a film critic! Haha! He's pretty damn thorough with it.
