Was not trying to personally attack anyone at all. Negative people tend to focus on negative things. Do you disagree? I misspoke about "the entire world" comment and corrected myself in a later post, did I not?
When I asked you that it was clearly sarcastic with the Oscar comment. It doesn't really upset me at all. I was neither a big fan or Corey nor his character, but a lot of people looked up to his character, which he obviously portrayed. I just find it insane that you don't see the mark he left on television or music.
1. Yes, I disagree in the context you tried to use it. And it was definitely pointed at people--two of us. You're point (aka attack) was that we're negative people and focusing on the negative aspects of his life. It was you saying "I don't have an argument so I'll make it personal"
2. You actually tried to defend the comment which was ridiculous. You exaggerated--that should never be done.
3. He left no mark on music at all--none. His impact on TV was limited at best. Glee was dying in the ratings already in Season 4. He appeared in just 88 episodes of a teen drama. Mark on TV? Not really unless the standard is low.
4. Yes, people looked up to Finn not Cory. That's my point...this is about losing Finn not Cory to everyone out there other than his family & close friends.
Again, if you think he should get a tribute that's great but the reason I don't has nothing to do with how he died. It has to do with is Cory Monteith, not Fill whatever, worthy of a tribute. My answer is no. I have no clue why you think that's negative.

I'm not arguing with you anymore man. It's annoying and foolish. If you feel the need to argue, go to a court room instead of a message board.
I'll leave you with Cory's mark on television and music:

The ratings for this kind of show, especially in the first 3 seasons (which heavily featured cory) were remarkable. Google it.
I can't wait to see his tribute episode and I'm sure he will have something at the Emmys as well.

Ratings in the US
33, 43 & 56---see the decline. If that's remarkable well....
Again, you can look forward to the tributes--that was never the issue. The issue is this insane logic that people that don't believe Cory, not Finn, is worthy of the tributes is "negative". That was discussion. There is nothing disrespectful or insensitive (your words) about that opinion. You don't have to change your opinion on someone simply because they died. They're the same person now as they were when the were living.
For someone that claims not to have been a big fan of the character or person it is odd that you "can't wait" to see the tribute. Nothing is adding up here.
Alright, clearly there is no winning with you here... you don't think he deserves the emmy tribute.. your opinion is your opinion. I may not agree with it, but I can't do anything about how you feel in this situation. I will be looking forward to the tribute as well RDM1! Good day kvm :) haha no hard feelings?
LOL of course he's going to get a tribute. He's the lead character of a popular TV show who passed away. Obviously the show is going to tribute him. Not to mention, this is Glee, the same show that has done two Britney Spears tribute episodes. Not to mention the fact that the cast is incredibly close and his girlfriend is the lead character. What did people expect them to treat his death like nothing just because he died of a heroin overdose? I agree that Cory made a ton of mistakes that he has obviously now paid for. His death is still tragic, regardless of how it happened. He was 31 years old. When Heath Ledger died, it was tragic too. I totally understand the argument that he made his own choices that he paid for, but it's also true that addiction is a disease. Plus, he started using when he was 13, just a kid. I just don't think it's fair to say he wasn't trying to get help because my understanding is that he had been clean since he was 19, and he did in fact go to rehab not too long ago. Relapses happen, and in this case, got the best of him.
I'm not some gung-ho huge Glee or Cory fan (though I like both), but I also think it's pretty absurd to downplay his talent. Obviously, talent is subjective but I'm of the opinion that he was incredibly talented. He never had the best singing voice, but his acting was always spot-on. He was always cited as one of the standouts. He never got the awards clout as some of his peers, but he also had a more challenging role. I think playing the "straight man" which Finn essentially was is one of the more difficult roles. Finn as a character was actually kind of a ********, but Cory managed to make him likable despite all the ****ty things he did to people.
And Glee, despite it's decline in popularity and watchability over the years, is still one of the most successful shows on TV, when taking DVR/internet, etc. into account. It's still incredibly profitable, hence why it was renewed for two seasons (despite the fact that it's seriously, not good anymore. I don't even know why I still watch, but I still manage to enjoy it....)
He'll be part of the tribute for all that have died in the past year but he was not someone who was so monumentally successful or changed the scope of TV enough to get his own tribute separate from everyone else. Guys like Stephen J Cannell and Aaron Spelling, who actually changed the way TV shows are written and produced, get their own tributes. Even Heath Ledger did not get his own tribute.
For what it's worth, I was talking about Glee tributing him. I don't expect him to get more than a brief picture during the Emmy In Memoriam (sp?)
They are apparently planning on doing a separate small tribute for him during the event... especially because the theme this year is music. But who knows.. they may just tag him onto the Memoriam slides

100% agree. I would "like" this post twice if I could.
Mr. mph, what you've just said is one of the most insanely beautiful things I have ever heard. At no point in your insightful, coherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a disagreeable thought. Everyone in this room is now lovelier for having listened to it. I award you all the points, and may God have mercy on your soul. <3
No one said "he's a monster"...people said he isn't someone that deserves a tribute.
To me, the bigger issue is that his career was essentially nonexistent then the way he died. This isn't River Phoenix passing away.
Couldn't have said it any better. And to people who said he was an inspiration to many teenagers and younger adults? I like to call Bull.

I don't either. What the ****? He was unheard of pre-2009. I can think of more deserving people who deserve tribute as well as several who are still alive and kicking and doing things to know help others and give back. Cory? Yeah right.

What does it matter that he was unheard of pre-2009? Do you have to be famous for a certain amount of years for your death to matter? If they actually are tributing him, it sounds like it's because the theme of the show this year is Music. Thus, Glee.
What does it matter that he was unheard of pre-2009?
Yes, it does! And I could give a **** if the "theme" this year is Glee. #***********

I just don't understand the logic. Plenty of celebrities currently were "unheard of" before 2009. If they died, would it not matter? Even if it was a heroin overdose or not. Just curious.

Edit: That was a reference to Billy Madison. No one seemed to get it. I'm sad now. That took a lot of typing.
First Spoilers have been released!!
First episode of the two-part Beatles tribute premiere will be called "Love, love, love"... an obvious reference to "All You Need Is Love" (first song spoiler?)... Second it was announced that Artie and Kitty will be doing a duet of "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away". I have also heard strong rumours that Kurt and Blaine will also be doing a duet of "Got To Get You Into My Life".
I have also read that they will deal with Finn's death through a drug related problem. I hope they have a good explanation of how long the character has been using, if others knew, etc. So far, that news has been very split among fans... i'm okay with them doing it :/

Hahaha didn't even realize that. But that's awesome.
:D Yay! My day is made now.
Also, if they do make Finn's death a drug-related death, then I will have to eat my previous words about hell freezing over before his friends and coworkers referenced that in a "tribute" to him. I guess they have their reasons. *Shrugs*
I read somewhere that Finn won't die by drug-related causes, but the cast will be doing PSAs about drug abuse throughout the episode.
Hmmm... that would make more sense. I hope you are right! Not that I'd be totally pissed if his character died like that... but it would be a long stretch to explain this all of a sudden drug addiction... and yeah I remember reading that the characters will be talking to the audience directly about drug abuse, like breaking the fourth wall?

Love this idea.
you know... I actually don't think its that bad of an idea. Especially after hearing that its for the NYC side of things... and a possible Santana love interest (they have a duet in the second ep apparently). Plus, she was actually pretty good on Grey's Anatomy compared to her horrible disney channel stint.. and her singing voice is pretty good! lol it's just awkward that they have already sung one of her songs haha
She was on "Grey's Anatomy"?! Wow... I guess it's been too long since I followed that show. I think I stopped well before they had that mass-shooting.
I'm gonna go listen to Demi Lovato songs now. Guys, don't worry. Calm down. This isn't a suicide note. I can handle it. I'm just going to... try... to listen... aodsifjz AHHHH!!!!
She actually doesn't bother me as much as the other people from Disney. I also think she is the best singer. I have never really seen her act before.
Brings me back to cryssy's topic about Demi and molds and tater turning it into a 90's teen heartthrob shrine. Those were the days.

BACKSTREETS BACK, Alright!!! Molds <3 Nick Carter.
Sorry I had too. Feel free to delete it!
I was a somewhere around 10 or 11-years-old when the whole Nick Carter thing came around. Trust me, the target demographic had its eyes on Aaron Carter. Oooh yeah.
Gotta Google him now.
By the way, has there been any news on how Lea Michele is doing?
I love my boyfriend so much. Most of my anxiety comes from the thought of him dying... (awkward, yes. But it's kind of a common fear after you've lost someone). I cannot imagine being in her place right now. Does she plan to continue on with "Glee"?
