Hopefully they restart road rules if real world ends to keep the challenge still going
Hopefully they restart road rules if real world ends to keep the challenge still going
Why would MTV restart a series that ended having fewer viewers in the demographic than RW has today?
MTV was pretty much down last night during the Real World slot due to the tornado in North Texas/DFW, well cable that is. So I don't know how much that's going to affect it (not a lot, but still it's pretty huge area). -___-

We don't want MTV to cancel the show because 20,000 people couldn't watch it.
The ratings was 0.5/910,000
So 18-49 demo dropped but viewers went up ever so slightly. Basically the season is trapped in mediocrity. The Twitter buzz has been pretty absent barring the one episode with Nia threatening to give Jordan oral ***. Season is coming to a close soon so it looks like once again we have to hope the challenge can help bail us out.
You can't threaten somebody to give oral ***. ****. You either do it or you don't. lol.
The Real World and The Challenge have been struggling to reverse the damage San Diego 2 caused for a while now. Its a shame too, because NO2/Cutthroat/Vegas2/Rivals was finally getting them back on the map again(well as much as can be expected)

SD2 should've never happened and ****ed a lot of **** up.
I agree that Nia and Frank are the problem, but I think its more the fact that the drama they bring feels forced. Ryan from NOLA had the same overbearing qualities of Nia and Frank but you could tell he was reacting to situations exactly how he would in the real real world. The viewers connected, and he saved the series with a little help from Jemmye.
I agree with you. It feels very forced. And it turns me off. I am just as turned off with Nia as I was with Frank. The things that come out of her mouth are just ridiculous, and I can't even bare to watch her, just like I can't watch Frank. He is the reason I recorded the challenge so that I can fast forward when he was on. And you can imagine how I wanted to throw up in my mouth when he won!
I'm no Frank fan by any means but in retrospect I think he's much more forgivable than Nia (I'm talking Real World specifically, not factoring what he did on BOTS). Frank's problem is that he's incredibly emotional and didn't even try to control his emotional outbursts. I do think that he went in that house intending to be friends with everyone and was genuinely bothered that Zashley didn't really like him, as evidenced by how thrilled he was that they wanted to hang out with him once he started dating that guy he liked. If he had just figured out a way to deal with his emotions in a less self-destructive, attention seeking kind of way I think a lot more of us would've liked Frank. Nia is mean-spirited and came in with an agenda. She's in the house for less than 24 hours and she's already planning to "take down" Jordan and all this other dumb **** that makes no sense. I think she's an angry insecure person which is why she always defaults to "Oh, well I have a big bank account so I'm better than you, I win". If you have to keep telling everyone that you're winning, you aren't. You can tell that someone is looking for fame when their twitter handle is "The Real XYZ"...are there a lot of fake Nias out there? You've been on television for all of four hours...
Reminder: This is a thread about RW: Portland's ratings. Let't keep it close to topic.
Gosh, there's always some excuse or putting the blame on one cast member with you guys. Why can't you guys just accept the fact that the RW is irrelevant to the general public? Who anticipates a new season besides our kind of people? The show is always going to have its dedicated fans but you can't always rely on that for viewers and I don't see Frank being the cause of regular folks not wanting to tune in and how is Nia responsible for a 0.72 premiere of Portland that she wasn't even on? The Real World is not connecting with people that have never watched a single season or haven't watched in such a long time, you have to get them to watch first and it looks like they weren't even watching based on the results on episode 1. The only people tuning out because of "forced drama" are the people that were already casual/super fans and there wasn't a lot watching to begin with. And if there wasn't any drama at all people still would complain about something. To me the whole MTV network as a whole has been worn out.
You can tell that someone is looking for fame when their twitter handle is "The Real XYZ"...are there a lot of fake Nias out there? You've been on television for all of four hours...
Haha, but apparently she had the name before the show even started though.
Haha, but apparently she had the name before the show even started though.
Well hadn't you heard? Before she even went on the show she was a best selling author. She even netted a 2.3 million dollar offer for an incomplete manuscript. She clearly needed to differentiate from the impostors back then too.

But to be honest lets stop the Nia hate.
I hope the ratings improve.
LMAO. But to be honest lets stop the Nia hate.
But why? Seriously, Nia probably needs our support if she is every going to be honest with herself. Playing a character or not may be arguable. If she were a better actress (or even just an actress) we might accept her antics. RW fan "hate" is not conducive to Nia's personal growth, assuming she secretly yearns for acceptance and recognition of her worth. I was reminded today by an old friend that I had overlooked something profound in Coral's Aftershow beat down of Nia. Coral didn't gloat or become hostile. She opted for something unusual for her -- well articulated wisdom to which Nia could offer no intelligent response. Coral didn't gloat and neither should we.
Nia is the reason for bad ratings IMO!
Nia is the reason for bad ratings IMO!
I'll be completely honest but imo Nia and Jordan are the only reason to watch the show, the rest of them are boring and are just there, Jessica gets her time of yelling and crying from time to time but honestly id not watch if I had to watch Averey constantly remind me how she loves *** and watch her go to the *** store 100x/episode and Johnny is just plain boring and annoying. Ana is just there to be a spectator and give her opinion on the fights, Marlon is just a spectator too and is a Nia cheerleader and nothing more, he said he hooked up with a dude and that was the only interesting thing about him and now he doesnt address that issue. From the trailer it looks like Nia is in all the fights, and its RW so all I care about is the drama, gone are the days where you can watch it to psychoanalyze the roommates and see what makes them tick, now theyre just boring drunks. I think RW Paris was the last season that kinda resembled the original RW

Even though I still enjoy Nia now, it would've been great to see her like she acted in episode 4. The way she got everyone to open up and the way she could carry an interesting conversation with anyone was great. I would say Brooklyn represented the real RW and Vegas 2, to an extent.
Nia is the reason for bad ratings IMO!
if nia and jordan weren't here, I wouldn't watch.
Nia is the reason for bad ratings IMO!
When Nia entered the house and when she smacked Jordan the ratings went over a million
It's a sad day for The Real World if the only reason to watch is for Nia and Jordan. Apparently America didn't get the memo.
Because everyone else is soooooooooooo boring. They need stronger personalities. Marlon is Nia's puppy Averey relies on Johnny 24/7 Ana is extra.
Going by some people's comments it seems the best way to get viewers to tune in is to cast a bunch of people who will absolutely dislike each other and openly display. So I suggest. Hardcore stone cold republican, Bleeding heart liberal, White supremacist, Staunch extreme Black nationalist, Extremely shallow jock, incredibly isolated nerd. One average person. Profit
That would actually be perfect. That's pretty much season 1.

Profit
It probably doesn't have to be to that extreme but pretty much yeah, that's the only way the show is gonna survive. It's becoming lame how there's only 1 person who becomes the focal point of the entire season while the others are basically background props, it's boring and probably one of the reasons why this season has been doing so awful. As for Nia, she's obviously really insecure and thinks by being self righteous she's somehow better than other people. And listening to her interviews and reading her twitter is so embarrassing, you're not a celebrity, you're on the lowest rated season of Real World, like just stop.
Exactly! That was the idea of the first 10 seasons - a guy who is homophobic living with someone gay, a small town country chick living with someone black.. THAT'S what the show is all about...the drama would be crazy but it would be real like in the old days.
