I watched Hancock win the skeet gold earlier. What an amazing shot.
I'll update this thread after every rotation in the gymnastics final. USA currently warming up on the vault.
Ugh. I hate this stupid live stream. McKayla just went on vault, supposedly did her best ever, but of course it pauses before she goes and repeats the last few seconds and catches back up by skipping her entire vault. All I get to see his her ready stance and then coming off the mat looking excited. Awesome.
Great start for the US. 48.132 on vault. Jordyn Wieber - 15.933 Gabby Douglas - 15. 966 McKayla Maroney - 16.233
That's what I like to hear!
After rotation 1: 1. USA - 48.132 2. China - 46.399 3. Russia - 46.366 4. Canada - 42.774 5. Italy - 41.899 6. Romania - 41.465 7. Japan - 40.599 8. Great Britain - 39.199 Teams rotating together: Great Britain/Japan USA/Russia Italy/Canada China/Romania Next up: uneven bars.
Wow, this is moving much faster than the men's competition yesterday. They're almost halfway done!
Rotation 2: uneven bars. Wieber - 14.666 Ross - 14.933 Douglas - 15.200 Russia (uneven bars) - 46.166 Romania (beam) - 45.249 Canada (vault) - 44.499 Japan (floor) - 40.166 USA (uneven bars) - 44.799 China (beam) - 42.932 Italy (vault) - 42.366 GB (floor) - 42.732 After 2 rotations: USA - 92.931 Russia - 92.532 China - 89.331 Canada - 87.273 Romania - 86.714 Italy - 84.265 Great Britain - 81.931 Japan - 80.765 Up next: balance beam - Ross, Douglas, Raisman.
Thanks molds, for the updates. The one time I can't watch this live...I knew I couldn't rely on a sh*tty PC ;)
Rotation 3: balance beam. Ross - 15.133 Douglas - 15.233 Raisman - 14.933 USA (beam) - 45.299 China (floor) - 40.833 Italy (uneven bars) - 41.666 GB (vault) - 43.965 Russia (beam) - 44.399 Romania (floor) - 44.700 Canada (uneven bars) - 42.332 Japan (vault) - 42.882 After 3 rotations: USA - 138.230 Russia - 136.931 Romania - 131.414 China - 130.164 Canada - 129.605 Italy - 125.931 Great Britain - 125.896 Japan - 123.647 Up next: floor - Douglas, Wieber, Raisman.
Second Russian routine screws up tumbling pass!!
Second Russian scores a 12.466 after a terrible floor routine. USA doesn't need to do much now!!
And a fall on the last pass from the last Russian...USA, barring a huge *******, will be gold medalists...
The US needs to score 40.301 points to win.
The US needs to score 40.301 points to win.
Is that, you know, hard?
15.066 for Gabby Douglas...Wieber and Raisman need to average 12.617 for gold.
Is that, you know, hard?
No.
Is that, you know, hard?
They need to average about 13.5 points per routine and considering they are shooting for somewhere in the 14.5-15.5 area, they would have to mess up as badly as the Russians did on floor to get the minimum scores.
Wieber KILLS IT with a 15.000 on floor. It won't be long now!!
She did so well! I was so excited for her after her disappointment the other day.
Raisman hits with a 15.3!! Gold for USA!!
Aly just made me tear up at the end there when she finished.
Rotation 4: floor. Douglas - 15.066 Wieber - 15.000 Raisman - 15.300 Total: 45.366 GOLD - USA - 183.596 SILVER - Russia - 178.530 BRONZE - Romania - 176.414 A HUGE WIN for the USA. Winning by 5 points is unheard of.
AWESOME!
These gymnasts did not miss a beat today. Lowest score was a 14.666 (avg was 14.600) from Wieber on bars; highest was Maroney's vault of 16.233 (avg was 14.895). Let's hope this carries on to Thursday's all-around.
The US scored highest on vault (by 1.766), third highest on bars (Russia, China), highest on beam (by .05), and highest on floor (by .666). An overall dominating performance.
Does that mean we don't need spoiler tags anymore? :D
Does that mean we don't need spoiler tags anymore?
It would seem that the majority of us have realized the only way to roll this Olympics is live, so now we are free to do it unencumbered.
Nathan Adrian has looked great so far through these Olympics.
Gold and an Olympic record for Schmitt!! Great race!
