I think it's kind of dumb for them not to make video uploads available, or e-mail them a video, or even a YouTube channel dedicated so people can upload their videos. Facebook should also be a tool they use to cast people. I feel VHS is SO dated! I know a lot of people, me included, that would love to audition, but find it annoying to use such an old format. I guess my best option is to sit in front of my webcam, record myself for 5 minutes, and burn it on a DVD, and wait for them to receive it by mail. They need to update on how they cast people.
Absolutely, Producer, I think even before YT blew up when it was just starting out they should've used it as well as Facebook. I know at one point they were going to try Myspace or did, can't remember.
Not trying to be rude here but why the heck is it that whenever here post that they are auditioning or even a video, whether it's even good or not, meets negative feedback more than positive?

If you are posting here, you are not going to get on the show for a variety of reasons that have been discussed ad nauseam. This thread basically eliminates you from the casting process as it is read by those doing the casting and they want nothing to do with people who post on Vevmo (for obvious, spoiler reasons.)
About 99.999% of people that email or message me asking for their accounts to be removed or deleted are people who posted in this thread and others of its ilk (i.e. Jasonsmith1989 probably wasn't the most anonymous user name to use.)
So in the end, if you are serious about applying for the show - feel free to read all that has been shared. Just don't waste your time asking us about the casting process as we don't know and by posting here you are putting up red flags that will in the end hurt you cause.
P.s. I won't even get into how many people actually email vevmo their request to be cast for the show...
*She's right
Did you attend a casting? How'd it go?
Yea I tried out just to see what it's like. It's a lot more real than what people thought. But for my group she kept three people who all had deaths in the immediate family or a current family member really sick or something. Those were the only three who had anything like that to. But she asked us three questions first was to tell us about ourselves, second question was what's something you regret or could go back and change. The third question was what's one word that describes you. Overall great experience, met a lot of cool people.
They are only casting 20-24 yr old people, not 18-24, meaning the new MTV rule about alcohol must have changed the age range, and also that Real World 27 will be in the USA since the rule wouldn't be a problem had it been outside the US.

Wow I didn't. That is a good thing that I'm 20 and not 18 or 19. I'm going to try to try out for Season 28.

The casting website list has no maximum age though.

Look again.
"You must be age 20 or older, and appear to be between the ages of 20-24."
So actually it seems as if people who are above 24 are now officially eligible if they look younger.

I only needed to look once.
Saying " they are only casting 20-24 yr old people" is not the same as "You must be age 20 or older, and appear to be between the ages of 20-24"

So what you are really saying is that if you make it to the semi-finals, find out everything you can about the competition, decide who is most likely to beat you, and set up a Vevmo account pretending to be them so you will win and they will not :to_pick_ones_nose2:

I guess having Priscilla not really be able to do to much drinking on the show wasn't much fun for them, and i'll bet they'll only really consider 20 year olds who would turn 21 either before or on the show.
So i just recieved this email
"Dear Real World 27 Applicant—
Congratulations! We liked your email submission and have decided to offer you a special opportunity to audition in person! SATURDAY October 15th 2011 at Hooters Dallas-At the West End from 9:30am – 4:00pm!
This email is your VIP PASS that entitles you to skip to the head of the line at our upcoming casting call.
Just print this email and present it upon arrival. You will be immediately placed in the next available casting group. You are also entitled to bring ONE guest with you if you choose.
I wanted to know if this really means they like me, or did EVERYONE get this?
If you're told you may get a call back by 10, do you usually get a call back by 10?
I mean, that seems pretty straightforward to me...
I mean, that seems pretty straightforward to me...
lol.. cool response. I get that it's pretty straightforward, what I'm asking is... is it COMMON to get a call by 10 or do they just tell you that?
My friend who went with me as (moral support) just got a call back, and I didn't! BLAHHHHHH
That blows, which call did you go to?
Whats the deal with those VIP passes?? Because I remember last spring when I tried out, I though I was like lucky or something. I was like VIP pass?? Oh Im in!! When I got there and they were like anyone with a VIP come up, no lie **** near 3/4 of the entire room got up. I was like ***?!? The line for VIP was longer than people who just came lol

That's what it was like today. My friend and I had VIP passes but the line was already so short it didn't really matter if you had a pass or not. Although it was pretty funny to watch the people show up with their passes, thinking they were cool sht--just to get denied and told once more people show up they'll call for passes. They never did though, to my knowledge.
I'm thinking the turn outs haven't been too big in the cities they've casted in so far, so they send out the VIP passes to give reason for people to show up.
My audition was super crowded. Everyone only got to answer 2 questions and 1 was a one word answer, lol. Does anyone know if they're super crowded like that if anyone gets asked to stay after your table is excused?
I went to a casting and my whole group was ”vip”.
Now a question I have is the casting guy asked if we were all available the next day before he released us, but then he chose 1 girl to stay to ask more questions, now im wondering did we all get cut and the girl made it?

I'm gonna say a definite yes to that.
Hi I'm new here. Do they check everyone's IDs before they get interviewed? What if I'm getting mine renewed?
Even if you're getting your ID renewed, you should still have that form of ID with you. Otherwise, bring another form...

Yeah, pretty much. I went too, with a friend and my friend got a call back. The question given was, "what do people normally misunderstand you as being?" I wouldn't answer anything like "a *****" or "*******" etc, it's better to give them a story such as "oh people usually see me as rich and spoiled, but I'm really not like that at all. blah blah blah" Those people got picked for my group. Two girls, 1 girl was pretty cute, but the other one was an ugly version of Lindsay Lohan, so...I dunno. but then again, I think my casting director lady was lesbian.
I got an email yesterday saying I had a vip ticket that would let me skip the line. Did you all get this & still have to wait?
Not many people apply for Real World anymore, so pretty much everyone I know that applied for that online thing, got one. And yes, you still have to wait.
For those asking about semifinal interviews:
If you went to an open call, only those asked to stay behind and fill out the lenghty 60pg application are still in the running. If they said "we will contact you by 10pm tonight" it doesn't matter. They are just being polite.
If you got picked to fill out the long app, they WILL call you by 10-11 that same night (mine was closer to 11 last season) because your next interview will be the following day, normally at a hotel. This interview would be considered the quarter-final interview.
After your quarter-final interview (depending on how far they are into the city-to-city open calls) they will contact you if you made the semifinals. It took over a month after my quarter-final interview for them to call me, because I went to one of the first cities they had castings at. It was about 1 week after their final audition city that that happened.
The key: be patient.
