Just saw this on Tumblr. I don't even have words..
I thought the same, since I am 16 and the first season I saw was Real World: Las Vegas (2011). But then I started watching Rivals and I realized there were more season before Las Vegas. I have seen Denver, Hollywood, and Cancun online. Now I prefer to watch the Real World over Jersey Shore, it's more serious in a way. Even though this season RW: SD is kind of sucky.

They used to do it nonstop on the weekend before a premiere of a new season. They may have rerun Vegas II before San Diego II, but if they did I think it was early in the day on a weekday.

The last time I remember them doing that was Philly I think. I also think they should go back to doing the casting specials, like Coral's Casting Couch, the night or week before the show premieres. Back before Back To New York, Method Man and Red Man did a tour of the house and introduced all of the cast members. Same with Denver, when Tyler and Paula did a tour of the house. I used to really look forward to those and seeing why people were actually cast..and also the rejects who didn't make it.
They should air an updated version of this on MTV: How Real Is It? | Video | MTV

After Hollywood, that show was what reinvigorated my interest in Real World and made me end up watching Brooklyn even though I swore already I wasn't.
I don't think it's very fair. Jersey Shore gets random marathons all the time, a minimum of maybe once a month with 5+ episodes in a row. With The Challenge or The Real World, there's barley ever air time other than at their usual 10:00 and maybe 1:00. We're lucky if MTV plays The Challenge/Real World more than twice in a row. They didn't even do anything special for the final episode of Rivals! They still played Teen Mom right before it and that would never happen with Jersey Shore.

The Real World is way past its prime but still profitable since MTV renews it. Jersey Shore has the potential to last longer since it's a new series compared to The Real World. I personally like The Real World more, but MTV is pushing Jersey Shore with those marathons because it's relevant. The Real World and The Challenges are obviously on their last leg, Jersey Shore has more of a future.
We have to remember, Real World didn't start taking off until around the 3rd season with Puck and Rachel and Pedro. It became more popular with the Stephen's slap heard-round-the-world, and then once New Orleans came around, it was on TV Guide, Julie was on CNN for getting kicked out of school, Danny was getting publicity for having a boyfriend in the army and the whole DADT thing and then the 10th anniversary was a big deal, Chicago dealt with 9/11, and Las Vegas was the first official party season. So from '94-'02 I would say the show was in it's prime. Shows just tend to fizzle out. Jersey Shore is definitely in it's prime, but give it a few years and America get tired of it as well.

Both ratings and entertainment wise. Seasons 14-19. It got boring to me when it switched to an hour even though no reality shows are 30 minutes anymore hardly.

Maybe Key West or Denver on, but I stopped noticing Real World Stuff once Sydney started (until I lost MTV while Brooklyn was probably airing).
There is no way San Diego, Philly, Austin, and Key West were the "prime" of the show. San Diego is may second favorite season. I loved it but I think by that time it wasn't as publicized as Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans. Philly, I thought, was pretty boring, I know Austin is a popular season but I didn't even watch more than 2 episodes and Key West was good but definitely by that time the show wasn't as watched. I'm pretty sure Chicago still holds the highest ratings and I think it's obvious that Las Vegas was a hit because besides season 1, it's the only season that has a full set of DVDs out distributed by either MTV or BMP.
I don't know if anyone has seen this, but I see Chet, Ayiiia and Leroy have found and good game to play with Johnny Mosley hosting. The Controller - Battlefield 3 Series Trailer - YouTube
That video has already been posted twice in the Challenge thread.

Chicago had one of the highest rated episodes in the entire show's run (if not the highest). Those seasons were regularly bringing in over 3 million viewers. Perhaps some consider Austin and Key West "prime" seasons because it was when the show changed. I think if they were to do some sort of old school versus new school challenge, most of us could agree that the cutoff would be Fresh Meat/Austin.
Quite Frankly, the Philly-Sydney era is the worst era of the series, with Key West being probably the only bright spot. In my opinion. I've enjoyed Hollywood-now. Nowhere near as much as I enjoyed the earlier seasons, but I thought Hollywood, Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Vegas were all entertaining/interesting in some way. ****, I don't even dislike Cancun. DC sucked though. This current season is kind of boring but I don't actively dislike it.
Top 10 Real Worlds (I've only watched from Phili - to now but I have seen every episode of Las Vegas, Paris, Miami, Seattle, Back to NY, San Diego and Chicago). 10. Back To New Orleans 9. Miami 8. Key West 7. Back To Las Vegas 6. Chicago 5. Las Vegas 4. Seattle 3. Sydney 2. Denver 1. Austin I haven't seen every RW but I wanna get some opinions on what's everyones favorites?

Chelsea Handler talks about The Real World (Spot on) God this makes RW look so boring Chelsea Lately: "The Real World" - YouTube
***** that's too funny. I didn't think about how stupid it sounded when I was watching the episode

I thought it was pretty funny when she talked about when you get cast on the show, you should look in the mirror and say "What the **** is wrong with me?"
That's kind of awkward for her to say Real Worlders have done nothing with their lives when Christina is on her panel. I know she wasn't on RW but Road Rules is basically it's sister show and they're basically all known for the challenges, which Christina has been on.
Really? Christina who?
Christina Pazsitsky from RR: Down Under has been on Chelsea's round table quite a few times.
I'm sure Chelsea is referring to the more recent seasons of The Real World. I thought what she said was hilarious about Alex (San Diego). Christina's season of Road Rules was not like the recent seasons of Real World at all. Even the challenge she was on (Battle of the Sexes 1) was not about hooking up or getting drunk at all. When Chelsea said something like "that ****** blonde girl talking to that other ****** blonde girl" I quickly thought of the Sydney season (Trisha and Shauvon).
I don't think the RW never do anything comment meant anything just for comedy. But my favorite part was when she said "break up with her and date your own hand". Hahah I love Chelsea Handler.

Wish Lohan had her judge. BTW, she is about to get a million bucks to do a full frontal in Playboy per the same website.
