It's been a while since I've watched Gauntlet 3 but it bothers me that Evelyn is always singled out by fans as the only person who was upset. I seem to remember Evan yelling and Brad trying to get Eric up and moving again. I realize there was a lot of editing going on but I have to think that everyone else on that team, while concerned for Eric's welfare, was mad that this was happening. And I might be mistaken about this but didn't someone say that Eric came back to the house a couple hours after his collapse and was fine? I do remember his on-camera confessional was a very blase "Everybody can't win", which I thought was just a tad understated for what he had just cost his teammates.
During that final, I was shocked at how long it took (or appeared to take) for any medical help to get to Eric. And then that female EMT inserted herself into the drama by chewing out the others instead of tending to her patient, which was very unprofessional on her part. But the saddest part about that final is that were it not for Frank and Jillian, the Veterans probably STILL would have won that challenge even if it meant waiting the 2 hours or so for Eric to get out of the hospital and finish running the final with them!!
You're right. While Ev did get really angry, she wasn;t the only one. Kenny and Evan acted like total ****** bags the entire time they were waiting, and CT was yelling at Eric during the entire final. I also remember on the reunion, Katie saying something like the only guy on Eric's side was Brad, who even started yelling back at some of the other guys. The final for the Gauntlet 3 was hard to watch for me, because of seeing how these people acted towards their teammate.
In my opinion, I'm glad the vets didn't win bc how awful the veteran guys were the entire challenge. The guys trying to get rid of the quote "weak girls", yet for whatever reason wanting to keep Casey and Robin over Coral, who has proven herself and even contributed well to that challenge. The guys also choosing Johnniee over Eric was dumb. I agree with Coral when she said, "The guys should have just grown some balls and take Eric into the gauntlet, instead of worrying about getting rid of the girls." I'm glad they walked away with nothing bc that's what they deserve.

I definitely don't think they deserved to walk away with nothing. They were the most dominant/best team in Challenge history IMO. They dominated 90% of the missions and the Final Challenge. Even with Big Easy holding them back throughout the Final, they still came back and destroyed the Rookies. Had they let them go on without Big Easy it would have been the most flawless victory in Challenge history.
While I agree that, athletically, they were the better team, as far as being good teammates or people in general, they were awful people and after seeing how they treated Eric when he was in a bad situation I say they deserved nothing. Plus, it's partially their fault for not trying to get Eric out in the first place, but instead were focused the entire time on getting rid of Beth and Coral, both of whom, honestly, did nothing personally or athletically to warrant a Gauntlet appearance. They also acted like ******* whenever the thought of facing Eric in the Gauntlet ever came up.
I agree with JEK and Wes. Not only did the Vets dominate in almost everything that challenge, but of course it just so happens its all or nothing at the end and they get screwed. The rookies weren't some team that banded together and got along either, they fought and hated each other for the most part as well.
That would have been a lot of people's first challenge win too on the Vets. I just don't get why that was the only challenge with that everyone must finish rule, cutthroat didn't seem to care who dropped off. They still make them finish, they think they won, and realize they didn't. That is some shady stuf, whether in rules or not. If they would have had team bank accounts throughout the challenge, the Vets won every one besides what they threw basically. They could have won at least something.
I am not a fan of the final challenge wins it all, for that very reason. That rookies win was the most pitiful win I have ever seen. Even with Easy going down, and who knows how long they dragged him and had to stop for, they caught up and beat them!! How does that happen?
Another Gauntlett would be fine by me, but that one thing changed. Any challenge but the island and Rivals basically I wouldn't mind. Rivals 2 would take a lot of old cast members agreeing to make that doable/good IMO and I just don't see that happening. I think it was perfect to do one time, and was a lot of fun to watch. But some of the pairs were questionable to begin with and it would be even harder now that some have buried the hatchet. But I really did/am enjoying Rivals.
I still think Eric going down in the final challenge was planned. Because they knew that the rules were so much in favor of the Veterans that they would win no matter which way you looked at it. If Eric didn't go down, it would've been a pathetic final and it wouldn't be close at all. Also notice how the rule of "no man left behind" was ONLY on that challenge. On Cutthroat, Sarah and Abram went down and TJ said that Luke, Laurel, and Cara Maria could still win. Also, watch Fresh Meat when Katie & Eric were in Exile, Eric ran fine, didn't gas out, and almost won. The Gauntlet III was just a way to make the show better in terms of viewers because they know if they show Eric going down in the trailer before the season starts, everyone will want to see what happens. Now imagine them not showing that in trailer, instead the Veterans smashing the Rookies. It is a tactic to get viewers.
Those exiles were pretty short. compared to the final of the G 3 they were nothing. ALso there was no swimming, which seemed to gas him out the most.
The only mistake they made was not putting Big Easy against Evan. Although it was understandable because there were 2 gauntlets that would have come down to weight. Had they known they were gonna get Sliders they would have more than likely thrown in Eric.

Exactly. The Vets DESERVED to lose that challenge. I'm glad that the rookies won that.

Me too im glad that Tori, Frank and Johanna won that one

They didnt deserve to lose it. The rookies certainly didnt desrve to win it. They sucked throughout, made Horiible decisions because of the austin alliance, i.e not throwing in rachael moyal instead of Jillian (their second best girl) Lost a hand ful of missions tailored to the thier low numbers ( like the burried alive misisons, and the carpet rolling one.
ALso anyone ripping the vets, in the heat of the moment if someone lost you $30,000 dollars, you would be pissed. Plus most of you forget to mention that Evan did comfort Eric (when he was on the stretcher he said to Eric " Hey my friend your gonna get help, we are finishing this race for you."), and motivated the team to finish the race for Eric. As he said to the team they all feel a bit sour about it, but thats natural. $30,000 is a substantial amount of money, ESPECIALLY for people under 30 who rely on bar apperances for income.
And yes Evan SHOULD of taken Eric on but Evan is a coward when it comes to these things. He should of at least taken Danny, but Danny was in shape back then, and had about 20 lbs on Johnny, so Evan wanted the lightest man, since two games were weight based.
The Rookies also pitted their 2 best male competitors up against each other (MJ and Frank), which might have been one of the worst moves made in Challenge history. They constantly voted their stronger competitors in the Gauntlet (MJ, Frank, Tori, Jillian). The only good move they made was saving Big Easy from the Gauntlet when they won the Final mission, and even then they ****ed up by not attempting to get rid of CT or Evan.

Keep in mind that Evan is VERY aware of the camera's at all time. Eric said on the reunion show that the only people he still talks to are Katie, Coral and Brad (note that Evan is not one of them).
TJ's bull**** explanation is what sealed it for me as being set up for the vets to lose. He said "You can't leave someone behind, and you did" or something like that. The season was sponsored by the army and let me ask this: Is it better to leave a wounded soldier behind to get medical help or to carry him into battle to let him die? I've also seen them carrying him (Evan f'ing carried him by himself) and heard that they actually forced them to give him up. AKA they had it lost the second the race started.

How was Tori one of their stronger competitors?? She went into the gauntlet once and won against melinda, I Think. She didn't perform strongly for the rookies in challenges. She was one of the team members responsible for voting in Frank and Jillian time after time. She cried and threatened to sabotage her own team. She's weak willed, conniving, and not a team player. Her presence weakened the rookie team.

Compared to her team of Johanna, Angel, Brooke, Jillian, Melinda, Rachel, and Jannelle, I'd say she's up there in terms of best girls on the team.

The rookies won to no credit to them really. Frank was by far their best player, Jillian and Tori were also strong on that team. It wasn't saying much though a pretty weak team. Frank played great the whole way though, gotta give him credit. The rookies didn't have some unified team that came together or some great strategy that worked out, they won by default. All they had to do was not have someone be hospitalized and it was wrapped up. Even if someone did break a leg or something, they could have been carried but with Eric they were not allowed to continue it wasn't just like a stubbed toe.
The Vets were basically dq'ed in the first 10 minutes of the race. It's the equivalent of a 1 on 1 race and the other racer breaking his leg while you take 4 hrs to finish the race but still win. Sure they won still, but other than the money they get no credit from me. I am sure they don't mind one bit about that, but least deserved win in challenge history IMO. That was the only way they could win, was an injury that the person medically couldn't go.
So basically I am with the majority how bs it was.

I don't think anybody was saying that the Rookies were this big, strong, unified, team. They had their fractions, Drama, Made some mistakes and weren't exactly strong. But honestly The vets were much much worse and I think the outcome of that challenge was right on the money. The Rookies may not have earned the win but IMO I'd rather them win than the Vets.

I didn't mean anyone thought they were unified, but they were just as messed up and fighting as the Vets, but they were losing all their people so they coudn't throw it if they tried. So it wasn't easy to root for them either was my point.
I meant their win would have made me happier or at least content with it had they been a unified team that you could root for, but they were bickering all the same. It was like OK, they won by default and got dominated in every mission the Vets weren't throwing. Who did i want to win out of this group? I was happy for Frank, he played a great game. But they all hated each other too minus Frank and Jillian so I guess to some the lesser of two evils. But to me the least deserved final win ever.

Very true, that was the Austin votes protecting Nehimiah (who *****ed the mission). However the worst decision EVER was when the Challengers had control of the RUins matchup they didn't throw in Casey. LOl freaking blue teams.
ALso I'd put Tori as a top 5 girl in challenge history. She is really athletic, and is a smart player. She creamed Tina on cutthroat, Theresa...a good competitor took almost 4 times as long to beat Tina. The only girls comparable to her on that Rookies team were Janelle and Jillian.
Also I believe Evan was sincere,Eric was on his cast, and on the Duel 2 he and Eric seemed to get along well. Again 30,000 is a lot of money to lose, but I think they are all overit by now and don't HATE Eric. C.T and Kenny said nice things about him on the Derrick Kosinski podcast.

Really? Use anything but that example. Tina is definitely not known for her endurance, and she was totally gassed after going against Theresa. Theresa was a victim of the order on that one, and really that Gulag said more about Tina than it did about Tori.

Tori's a D1 athlete, is undefeated in finals. Those credentials alone make her a top 5 girl. The girl pool is slim.
I'd rank Evelyn Rachel, Laurel and maybe Veronica ahead of her, but that's it.

Tina didn't like Theresa and wanted Tori to win. That's why Theresa was crying after because she knew Tina purposely did that. Tina admitted to it also.

Tori has beat Veronica before. I don't think she's as strategic as Veronica in her prime, but she's definitely more athletic.
What would be some interesting elimination rounds that are purely fantasy? I'd like to see...
Evelyn vs. Laurel
Kellyanne vs Tori
Beth vs Paula
Aneesa vs Jenn
Veronica vs Tina
Rachel vs Evelyn
Laurel vs Kellyanne
Tina vs Jenn
Tori vs Rachel
Katie vs Jenn (preferably a wrestling match)
Susie vs Laurel
Kina vs Evelyn
Evan vs Kenny
Johnny vs Kenny
Eric vs Ct
Adam vs Tyler
Abram vs Ct
Derrick vs Kenny
Leroy vs Kenny
Evan vs Leroy
Wes vs Kenny (again, wrestling preferably)
Mark vs Ct
Miz vs Kenny
