The Challenge: Rivals - Welcome to the Jungle

Maybe they're going to have more web exclusives tomorrow because they had a lot of videos of interviews/old footage of each rival last week, so maybe this week they can give us extra footage, or at least I hope so. I really didn't think all those old videos were necessary, maybe for introducing the idea to MTV but the viewers already knew all that stuff, just TJ saying this is rivals would be enough.
The other thing I like about the format (automatically throwing in the weakest pair) is that it means every competition involves performance based on just how that pair did. No challenges with "mass eliminations," like the first challenge of FM 2, or teamwork, like the one with pushing logs. I feel like this leaves a lot less room for alliances to work during actual missions.
I kinda agree with this. I do feel sympathy for what happened to CT's brother but if I'm not mistaken, wasn't he chasing that dude with an axe? It still doesn't justify shooting someone in the back but he wasn't exactly helpless or innocent in that situation.
True, but when somebody's shot in the back, that generally means they were running away - hence why their back was facing the shooter. So the guy who shot him didn't shoot him in self-defense. & as I recall, the shooter also shot him in the leg, 1st, which, IMO, was understandable (self-defense) but then when an injured Vinny then turned and tried to run, he was shot in the back - even though, by that time, it's pretty clear he was no longer a threat.
PS: what part of Boston is CT from? I'm from Boston, too, and know of some ****ty areas in the Boston area but his accent gives me the impression he lives more on the outskirts than right in the city.

CT's brother wasn't shot in Boston, he was shot in Vermont. And while his brother was just using the ax to smash one of the guy's trucks, I could see why somebody would see him as an immediate threat and shoot him in self defense. Nobody really questioned whether or not the shot in the leg was justified (I don't even think CT's dad disputed that), it's the fact that they shot him in the back and bashed his face in with the butt of the rifle after because he was "still chasing after them" as they said. The fact that his brother's leg was basically blown off and that he was shot in the back pretty much shot down that whole part of the self defense claim.
CT has a violent history on the show. Katie, Eric, Derrick, Brad and other cast members have commented that he is a different person off it. It would be all over TMZ if his television violence translated to the "real world". Someone who actually knows him, Townie, describes him as a private, snobby person who keeps to himself which I think is the reason why he does not get along with famewh*res like JEK and Cara Maria.
Snobby? That surprises me. I can definitely sense he's a private person (as someone who is also from Boston, I can tell you it's kind of a New England thing, we tend to be private/guarded when it comes to personal/emotional stuff) but snobby surprises me. He doesn't really strike me as judgmental or stuck up. For one, he is always polite to fans and responds to comments, and I remember his myspace profile was/is always public, etc. and he seems fairly accepting of people, he has a temper, for sure, but he doesn't really seem like someone who judges or looks down on people. I could be wrong, of course, which is why I'm interested in what townie means by him being snobby.
I really think the concept of the last place finisher automatically going in would be awesome if they ever do a Duel 3. Would get rid of that stupid list and make things more interesting

They need some way to separate them out.

The best team advanced to fight for 1st place, and the pairs that belonged to the other team didn't do anything. In that case they could've had the second team fight for every place but the last one.

For example, team X could throw the mission to prove to an alliance that they'd do anything to stay in the game and be on their side. The alliance might want to take out team Y, and team X is willing to throw the mission and go into the Jungle elimination in hopes of winning so they can be in the alliance. It definitely shows someones loyalty if they did this. I don't see this happening, though.

I was thinking more like the Dirty Mouth mission from FM 2 would be something that wouldn't work.
Ready for tonight?
Just listened to Derrick's podcast with Robin. I think it's really interesting how Robin said that Evelyn is the one who masterminded her and Aneesa going in, as opposed to Laurel. Seems like BMP isn't as hell-bent on making her out to be the evil one this season.
This episode is unavailable on mtv.com but Ep. 2 is still there. That sucks, i've only seen it when it premiered and i was doing something else while watching it, so i wasn't paying attention some of the time.
And still listening...I love how after calling Evelyn a dirtbag, Robin goes on to try and defend Evelyn by saying how she really wanted to rumble and go against larger people, and Derrick is the one who tears her down.
If you believe Robin.
Which is why I said "Robin said," then "seems like." Do you have evidence that this is not what happened?

I think it is so the episodes can air in other countries and this way they make sure people don't watch them on MTV.com first. They are probably available just the first week for those that missed them.
Which is why I said "Robin said," then "seems like." Do you have evidence that this is not what happened?
Yeah thats what I sort of thought too, I'm not sure who to belive at this point. Maybe when Evelyn does talk to us, she will probley tell us her side of the story
Which is why I said "Robin said," then "seems like." Do you have evidence that this is not what happened?
***? "If you believe Robin" is a generic comment. (I'm having a brief CT moment in response to your comment.) ~~ The subject will be added to the list of interview questions for Evelyn. And the question will include more from Robin on the subject.

Yeah, I never really understood why they go offline after a week. But when the season is done, they all seem to be available.
Videos from MTV.com are unavailable in other countries, so there must be another reason.
I live in the netherlands and I was able to watch them just fine during that first week.
WTF? "If you believe Robin" is a generic comment. I would bring this up on the Evelyn thread except it got locked.
Can we also ask her about the black and yellow...thing in her hair? I would bring this up on the Evelyn thread except it got locked.
I believe it's a feather typically used as a fishing lure. It's a new hairstyle trend to wear those in your hair.
I believe it's a feather typically used as a fishing lure. Knoxville is not a place where one sees new trends--I had no idea this was even a "thing," but they look really pretty!
Kind of random, but I was re-watching this episode and heard "Let it Go" by Madina Lake playing during the intro. It's a totally awesome and appropriate song for this season, given some of the lyrics: "We all make mistakes with heads full of memories that you can't erase (unless you feel it, you'll never forget it) So you push the pain below, hiding all your enemies and there they grow, unless you find 'em, you'll never forget 'em Ya know you have to feel the pain, let it hurt, let it rain (let it rain) Cuz if you bury it away, it will come back again and again. Let it go." And then...they play just the instrumental part when TJ walks out. Funny thing is, there's another song on the album that is so much better suited for that part (at least lyrically). Oh well.
