They should have just brought in a random old castmember who causes drama, like Dunbar, or someone who didn't know Leroy. That way they still have to learn to work together and aren't best freinds in a team challenge where everyone else really prefers not to be around the other. But it is kind of nice to see a rookie team with an advantage. I am so tired of all newbies being sent home right away (at least so far) than it becomes all about JEK. Nice to see a vet team go first.
At least all of these people are working with someone that they know. Why have Leroy compete with someone he's never met? That would be pointless.

Basically, it's Zito's fault :)

In the rest of the challenge preview after the first episode, Tyler said he considered Johnny his best friend, and they are paired. So i guess what's the difference if Leroy gets Mike. Doesn't mean they will win.

Also, mike + leroy = pretty fun, makes for good tv.
Leroy was great this episode, best part was his comment to Wes when he was manipulating Adam: 'I don't trust that mother ****er' :p
Also, leroy should become friends/allies with CT, that'd make for a great power alliance! JEK vs CT + Leroy = dead JEK
It was said again and again... and AGAIN that they invited Zito who turned them down, so the only person left was Mike.
I was just saying what I felt... Anyway, I'm really glad that they went back to one elimination round per episode. The seasons flew by when they did both male and female elimination rounds.
Would be so great to see Mike and Roylee with some power, seems like they are smart enough not to fall for any games vets try to play on rookies.
It could be like this just for the first episode, because they gotta introduce the pairs etc aswell.
There are only 8 eliminations total, so they will be milking one per episode.

Dustin had beef with Leroy saying how he was in fact doing sex acts when Dustin was in denial, and Leroy was pretty taken aback by the admissions. Not a great rival pair by any means, but acceptable if need be. Some of the ones paired now are just as bad.
Is it me, or is production different? I feel like there was something off about this episode - the timing and the music just didn't fit the scenes. I don't know.
Is it me, or is production different? I feel like there was something off about this episode - the timing and the music just didn't fit the scenes. I don't know.
As I was saying before, the cinematography is far different. They must be using new angles to shoot at, new cameras, something. It's the same thing with the first episode of the Real World: Las Vegas... the show feels staged now.
Molds said that this episode was filmed in HD, so maybe that's what you noticed.
There was a clear cinematography difference between past challenges, which someone else already noted. Even Cutthroat didn't look like this.
So yeahhhh, I'm upset because there are no dailies that have been posted yet. I know I have to be patient, but come on, where are they? grr
In the rest of the challenge preview after the first episode, Tyler said he considered Johnny his best friend, and they are paired. So i guess what's the difference if Leroy gets Mike. Doesn't mean they will win.
Exactly. I mean it has been said Kenny/Wes are not exactly rivals, and are friends outside the show (I believe), and than Jenn/Mandi are not rivals since they made up, so why should Leroy go home over being paired with a friend? Plus, Leroy/Mike may bring more ratings, so why not?
Molds said that this episode was filmed in HD, so maybe that's what you noticed.
Isn't it always? lol
Dustin/Leroy coudl have been Rivals. Not a great rival pair by any means, but acceptable if need be. Some of the ones paired now are just as bad.
Yes but Leroy/Adam is obviously much better. And people are saying dustin should've been up for the challenge so now he could've replaced Adam as Leroy's (actual, sort of) rival. But my point is that if he would've agreed to be on the challenge he would've been Mike's partner, so that would've let Leroy without any possible partner so he either would've gotten a stranger (unlikely) or get removed from the show. So in the end this works out much better, of course if Mike/Dustin had been on the show it would've been completely different and adam might not have punched Ty but we'll never know.
- It's going to bother me all season that Mike and Leroy are partners. They're not rivals! They're bros! I don't see how that's fair... The least they could have done is bring Zito in instead. That would have made more sense honestly.
I know a lot of the vets DQ'd, so they might have won if their jumps had been counted but after seeing Leroy and Adam perform, I think his departure isn't the best thing that could have happened to this pair. Not trying to hate on Mike, he's awesome for a show like RW, but I don't know if them getting along is really that big of an advantage for a challenge, considering that Adam is much more athletic than Mike.
I think that there is a very fine line between cocky and confident, and Leroy walks it well. He isn't too outspoken, but it seems like he has done his research on the way these challenges work. He also appears more than capable to perform at a high physical level.
Exactly! And he says it so nonchalantly and with that little twinkle in his eyes... Love him.
Also, leroy should become friends/allies with CT, that'd make for a great power alliance!
That's exactly what I've been thinking. I don't think they'd be able to dethrone them that easily especially with Adam gone, but they should team up with Jonna/Jasmine. Brandon/Ty and Tyrie/Davis aren't strong teams, but they aren't part of an alliance yet and that's a few more votes for the "resistance". Katelynn/Sarah and Camilla/Theresa would probably be in the middle.

I am sure beforehand they thought Mike/Dustin possibly, but i thought they meant Dustin declined the invite to bring in Dustin to replace Adam R to be teamed with Leroy. They weren't gonna send Leroy home to bring in a new team. Not sure if you meant it that way, but just clarifying what i meant. Maybe Dustin declined during original casting and as replacement, not sure.
Also I read here on vevmo TJ was gonna host the challenge, but at the start of the episode it really had me wondering like what the hell, where's TJ? And when he got an applause from everyone for being there that was nice. A challenge isn't a challenge without TJ.

Sarah would too but Katelynn, I doubt it :p Dunno what she's thinking but from this episode it seemed like she thinks she can beat everyone and say whatever she wants.

I'm so glad Leroy didn't fall for Wes' manipulation. Its good to see rookies have no fear and not be yes men to JEK
I didn't really like the first episode as in I really, really, really didn't like it. The first mission was lame and the elimination was something like you would see at a girl scout camp for little kids. It wasn't nearly as daring or challenging or as intense as any of the previews have painted this season as being. I was surprised nobody got hurt on the cliff as that was a questionable set up to me. Other than Adam going home quickly instead of it being drawn out into 2 episodes and Mike showing up in episode 1, I can't say I liked anything else about it.
CT's brother was shot in the back, and killed.
OK. I knew his brother was killed, but it sounded like CT also said he himself was shot in the back. Guess he didn't sound very clear to me. I think while this episode wasn't jam packed (aside from the stupid fight), for me it felt decent considering what it could have been. There are a lot of people on this I don't care much for, so I didn't have big expectations at all for this challenge. I wasn't really anticipating watching it. I just wanted to see some of the oldies. But I thought the episode was pretty balanced and not too focused on the cliques. The concept of the challenge itself is a draw and is interesting.
LOVED Katelynn getting in Laurel's face. "If you're not afraid to bleed for some money, what the **** are you doing here?" DEAD. I really can't stand Laurel. Kenny was hilarious as usual, love CT& Adam, love Leroy, and of my course my love Evan. I'm so excited for this season! PS. Jasmine, back away from Tyrie. No....just no.
I'm so glad Leroy didn't fall for Wes' manipulation. Its good to see rookies have no fear and not be yes men to JEK
You mean yes man to WES, not JEK. Love how people are still finding way to blame them when they had nothing to do with Wes speaking to Leroy.
