Geez, this AL team sucked...they were completely dominated by the pitchers/relievers of the NL. Well, the NL did throw some naaaasty pitchers/relievers at them. The NL has now won two in a row, go NL !! Home field advantage in the WS, baby !! I just hope my team makes it there.....

I assume you mean Gonzo. I think they are like 1. and 1A. The thing that sticks out to me is the 31 bombs compared to Gonzo's 17, and Bautista has 63 less AB's.

HRs are awesome, but check the BA on Gonzo. I agree, it is tight between the two. Sure, Adrian has more opportunities, but damn - he is clutch in RBI situations and he leads the league in that category (as well as TB, H, Doubles, etc.)
A reporter asked AGonz why his BA went up...
It was simple, he said (Paraphrase) "look at my walks."
So you walk AGonz to get to Youk and Ortiz. Not good...which is why they only do it at the rate of half what they did it when he was in SD. Thus, he sees more pitches.
Anyway, Gonzo is not a HR hitter. He is a pure hitter. All fields all day. When it goes over the fence, it does.
Bautista is a great hitter. If I could choose between the two, It would be easy.
Fielding wise, AGonz is the best in class.

He is so far above anyone's wildest expectations at this point. He's giving AGonz a run for MVP and definitively pushing Pedroia.
He's everything I dreamed he would be after seeing him play in the post season in 2007 and more. Sure, it has taken time to get there, but now he stands in elite company as one of the best (if not the best) leadoff hitter in baseball.
p.s. And yes, I was being a just a [I]bit[/I] biased, lol. (Little did I know...)

In my opinion, he should be ahead of Gonzo in the MVP race. Ellsbury is responsible for A LOT of Gonzo's rbis. Granted that also means Ellsbury scores more runs, but RBI's, IMO, is a much more cared about stat than runs scored.
Gonzo is a great player, having a great season, and is one of the best in the league without a doubt. I am not taking anything away from the season he is having. But a lot of people could be putting up good numbers with Ellsbury, Pedroia, and Youkilis in front of them and Ortiz and Crawford behind them.

So ellsbury is better than bautista interesting. I'd understand he plays on a 4th place team but he's still that much better than everyone else.

You don't get MVP if your team isn't winning. It is an award that goes to the player that (generally) does the most in getting his squad to the post season. It is an award that goes to the best player of the best playoff bound teams.
How can you win Most Valuable Player, when all you did was pad your stats without results. The "Value" in MVP equates to wins.

Exactly. Bautista will win Silver Slugger without a doubt, but MVP is a totally different story.

But Buatista single handily produced more wins than ellsbury did for boston. Buatista is not only the best player but the most important player for his team. The yankees could survive without granderson just like they are surviving without arod. The redsox could survive without ellsbury.

These are the batters who have scored the most points thus far this year (p.s. A lot of them are Sarks, heh.)
Jacoby leads Jose in Hits, Singles, Doubles, Triples, Runs, Stolen bases and BA.
The categories Jose leads in are HR, Walks (which are meaningless most of the time unless you can get into scoring position) and RBI (by two - batting 3rd or cleanup for Toronto vs. Jacoby leading off and batting after the bottom of the order in Boston.)
So I don't see what you are getting at...
Granderson is a much better player now than Arod (who is in major decline) and the Sox would not be in a tie for first place if they had Scutaro batting leadoff w/ Mike Cameron in CF.
In my honest opinion, the 5 players going at AL MVP honors as of right now are Granderson, Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez and Cabrera.

So your argument is that because a semi-decent team has one player who's much better than his average counterparts, he should be MVP?
Right now I expect Gonzales, though I do think that if Granderson gets more RBIs then him by the end of the year, he should definitely get it since he'll have more runs, RBIs, SB, home runs, triples etc while Gonzales will have a decent chunk of them with a better average.

Well yes that would be the value component. The best player in the league is easily bautista the best player. Saber stats would also tell he has the single highest value and WAR.
