Out of all the men, I feel Leroy would win in a fight. The way he talks and the fact that he's a garbage man tells me that he wouldn't back down. I think he's my new favorite castmember. I feel like if the challenge gets renewed, he would definitely beat Alton as the best black alpha male. Alton can climb, but Leroy has that natural strength.

Alton has done more than climbing. Alton has strength as well. It's just that climbing very much stands out for him.

Are garbage men known for not backing down in a fight? haha. Kidding!
I was really surprised the 2 rookie teams won a challenge, even though it was really up for grabs and the winner had no power other than immunity and btw why no prizes?
Were we watching the same thing? Adam and Leroy won $1000.
Even though I knew Adam was gonna be kicked off the show for punching Ty and I really can't stand the guy he's a major *********, but I was really disappointed to see him go I wanted to see how well of a team him and Leroy could of been.

I thought that was funny, too. I guess he's not afraid to get down and dirty? ;)

I'd be upset about losing 1000$ based on time when they never said if there was a tie, that would be measured. You would think a rejump would decide who is better and deserved it more? Kind of like when they do missions and split them up, than the two winners face to see who wins.
Were we watching the same thing? Adam and Leroy won $1000.
no I meant they didn't get like a new flat screen TV or anything like that.

I can guarantee that the cast knew about it beforehand. From what I'm told, TJ tells them about the mission, and then production goes over it with the cast in depth to make sure that everyone understands how it works.

It was made clear that they were being timed so I'm sure they all knew how a tie was going to be broken.

^Like Molds said, it was funny though that TJ asked "Any questions?" and in unison the whole cast goes "No" hahah, seems like they did that just for editing purposes.

That is fair than, I take it back. But I just think a rejump is better, but not my call :)

I'd have to rewatch it to be sure, but I think they did say time was a factor at the beginning or implied it at least.
What I didn't get is that they had to jump from behind the line, was this just to ensure there were DQ's and there wouldn't be like 5 pairs who all made it without touching any of the red things?
Why didn't they just move the red hashes (or whatever it was) a bit further and then just jump from where ever u want.

To make it harder.

Before each of these events, someone from production comes out to explain the rules. Where prizes (like money ;) ) are involved, The Game Show Act actually requires that the rules be written. Because of the environment, in lieu of handing everyone a piece of paper with the rules, the production company presents them orally. Quite often there is a lengthy Q/A as well between production and cast members. I can only recall once in the history of the challenges when we've seen any of that, but it always happens.
I liked this idea for a team mission, minus the dq line. I agree with Skeet. But i am worried they won't have that many good team missions.
IMO, Two things will make this challenge awesome still; The male jungles should be intense and the cast on this challenge was well casted and will make it a good challenge.

Very interesting, thanks for clarifying! So much more goes into it sometimes than it seems.
I think MTV should do a Challenges Uncensored Part 2. I know MTV doesn't do that show anymore, but it would be nice to see some behind the scenes things and explanations about the group of challenges after Battle of the Sexes 2.
I don't think what Laurel did was wrong at all. It was the smart thing to do for herself. Aneesa and Robin didn't have as many friends so no one would feel bad voting for them. I see where she's coming from. I do agree with Katelyn as far as saying that Laurel is the only one who has a chance to beat Evelyn and I know she didn't say these exact words but it almost felt implied that she thinks it's cowardly of Laurel to not go in herself. While that does make sense, isn't Katelyn looking out for herself too by wanting the two strongest girls to go in so one goes home so it's less competition for her? I think it's very annoying when someone calls someone else out on something that they would do or already do themselves. And before I get flamed for hating on Katelyn, I thought it was really dumb when Laurel got all mad for Aneesa telling everyone they should vote her in.
I know this is a few pages back, but if I was in Laurel's position I'd be afraid to go into an elimination round against Evelyn especially where there's an x factor (the level of ability of the partners) involved. There's been a lot of debate about Laurel vs Evelyn and people would start definitively saying Evelyn was better than Laurel if she beat Laurel in the elimination round. I don't blame her for being nervous and trying to avoid it.
I will withold my judgement on whether or not Laurel is cowardly until I see how hard she works to avoid elimination rounds in the future. She didn't seem afraid at all in Fresh Meat 2 and I don't really have enough to judge from Cutthroat since she just seemed more angry at the fact that she was going in over Cara Maria.
I thought the mission was a good idea and also thought it was intended to be exactly like a long jump. I noticed that Adam R's form was very similar to a long jumper.
However, you're absolutely right: Adam R's punching form is laughable.
Thanks for the TL;DR version :D
Thank you. People seem to think long jumping is a humdrum test of athleticism. Not a long jumper myself, but I've tried it a number of times on track fields. It's easy to watch it as a viewer and say it is lame because nobody is wrestling or slamming anyone into a cliff face yet, but it was solid for a first challenge. Leg strength is something to be noted for future challenges.
And you're welcome. I try to be accommodating seeings as how I can go on :P
I didn't really like the first episode as in I really, really, really didn't like it. The first mission was lame and the elimination was something like you would see at a girl scout camp for little kids. It wasn't nearly as daring or challenging or as intense as any of the previews have painted this season as being. I was surprised nobody got hurt on the cliff as that was a questionable set up to me. Other than Adam going home quickly instead of it being drawn out into 2 episodes and Mike showing up in episode 1, I can't say I liked anything else about it.
The elimination was a test of muscle endurance. In torture chambers, a common form of torture is to force someone to stand for hours on end. This is torture because inevitably your muscles tire and pain sets in. This challenge was similar to forms of torture which are geared towards causing muscular pain and exhaustion. There is nothing girl scout about it.
And yes, the trailer shows a ton of intense eliminations and challenges. But that is what a trailer is designed to do. It shows the best parts of the Challenge so that people will keep watching in anticipation of those moments. Take Cutthroat, where the first trailer showed CT carrying a human backpack. I know for a fact a lot of people watched that show for moments like that. But Cutthroat as a whole was a fun challenge, even though not every moment was peppered with intensity and insanely physical challenges.
You just gotta check your expectations at the door and watch the episodes without expecting each one to be mind-bogglingly epic. Nothing is like that. Well, sex can be like that. And sky diving. Or climbing a mountain. Or being shot into space. I should clarify: nothing that requires you to sit and watch a screen can be mind-bogglingly epic.

I appreciate your optimism. It is refreshing in the wake of the people whose lives seemed to have been ruined by what they perceive to be a lackluster episode.

It also makes it a lot more difficult that they were forced to hold hands. You have to take into account how fast the other person is going so you take off at the same time and one person is not holding the other person back (which affects their distance). If all they had to do was jump off, it could have been a different story.
What is the big deal about trying to avoid elimination rounds? Who jumps at the chance to go in and possibly go home? The whole "if you're not here to bleed for money then what the **** are you doing here" line is wrong in my opinion too. A lot of us are saying stuff about how so and so is so strong because they've won X amount of elimination rounds or so and so is the strongest because of how big they are and while those arguments can and will always be made, the contestants are there to win the big money AT THE END and going into an elimination round lowers your chances of winning so it isn't cowardly, it's smart to not go in. I've just come to the conclusion that...

and that goes for everyone.
That would have been a cool individual challenge too just to see who has best long jump. But a good team challenge for sure because as Molds stated, holding hands makes it a ton harder.
No dailies it seems which sucks. But they have usually one-two unaired clips on mtv.com from the epside after the episode airs, and cast interviews just like on vegas 2. That's something! I think I am the only one who likes that though haha from what it seems.
I think you're about the 12847635th person to ask...
No, no dailies.
Cara Maria posted on her formspring yesterday that there will be dailies and that she wouldn't lie. But judging from the "online exclusives", I'm starting to doubt there will be any this season which sucks.
