Boston just signed Troy Murphy. He should be a nice asset in the playoffs.
It was a huge move. Basically, he weighed the options and wanted to be with the team he thought had the best chance of getting him a ring. I might be biased, but I think he made the right choice.
In the end, the Celtics need their ailing big men still on staff to find a way back to the floor if they want to win this thing.
So the big question now is, what was the bigger move: Mike Bibby to the Heat or Troy Murphy to the Celtics?
I would probably say Bibby helps the Heat more than Murphy helps the Celtics, but I think the Celtics are still light years ahead of Miami and will have no trouble with them in a 7 game series.

As an ASU guy, I am biased. He was always on my most hated list (being he was good back then.)
I never liked the guy so I am happy he went to the Heat in his "old age" as I would have had to sing his praises here if he wore the Green.
That aside, it is a tough call. I think the Celtics filled their needs, especially if they get their injured big men back on the ship. If they do that, it really doesn't matter what the Heat do as I honestly don't think the Celtics will be facing them for the conference championship.

...Because the Celtics are undoubtedly going to reach the conference championship, right? Haha, there's plenty of talented teams with fresh young legs that they might not be able to hang with.
You might not be worried about the Heat, but I think it'll be really interesting to see how being in Miami opens up Bibby's game. He'll be another three point threat that teams are going to have to worry about. Also, with Udonis Haslem coming off his injury soon, the Heat will finally have a healthy roster. When the time comes they'll be ready to take on whomever in the conference championship.

Healthy roster or not, the Heat will continue playing third fiddle to the Celtics and Bulls (GO BULLS) until they can prove that they can actually win a game against one of those teams.
Now, this talk about Bibby being a factor for the Heat has me confused. With respect to this season, the guy has been pretty uninspiring. Commentators look to his high three point percentage, but lest we forget the guy is only averaging 9.1 points per game, so it's not like he is taking that many shots anyway. As a result, that percentage is bloated.
As far as the East goes, the Celtics are the best team right now, followed by the Bulls. For my part, I am begging the Basketball Gods for a conference finals featuring a playoff rematch between the Bulls and Celtics. That playoff series in the first round a couple years back was nothing short of epic.
Bibby serves no purpose for the Heat... really no point guard does. I don't even know why they have point guards on their roster... I'd maybe have one to come in off the bench to manage the team if LeBron and Wade are both on the bench, but they handle the ball so much for their team that point guards don't really serve a purpose.
Lack of shot blocking and rebounding is going to take the Heat down come playoff time. They'll win a lot of games during the regular season when most of the good teams half *** it and are just killing time before the playoffs start, but against a good team with defensive minded personnel, that 1-on-5 gimmick **** isn't going to work. Hasn't worked for LeBron in the past and it won't work this season either, I don't care if he does have Wade and Bosh around him.
The Sacramento Kings version of Mike Bibby is not walking through that door, Miami !! He was awesome back then and should've won a title with the Kings if it weren't for the dirty *** refs helping the Lakers.....but now Bibby is just a 32-33 year old average/below average PG. Still a good shooter and ball handler but everything else....ehhh.

Exactly. The Hawks play a lot of isolation basketball too kind of like the Heat and it did little to help Bibby as far as opening stuff up for him, I doubt he'll have any better luck in Miami; the Hawks at least had some interior threats for opposing teams to worry about.
Speaking of Sacramento, that stretch of Kings teams from the early 2000's is the best group of teams that never won an NBA title that I've personally seen. It's too bad Stojakovic went mental in Game 7 of the 2002 conference finals and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

You ain't kidding man. Heck, it kinda depresses me thinking how the Kings never won a Title in those 3-4 years...and I'm not even a Kings fan, lol.

That and it did not help that the refs hijacked the series for the final 12 minutes in game 6 of that particular series.
Lakers shot 40 free throws total in that game, but 27 of that 40 came in the fourth quarter. Ri-*******-diculous.

This x 10000000000. The most ridiculous and one sided officiating I've ever seen. Plus, the ref that got caught cheating/betting on games (Can't remember his name) was one of the officials in that series. To me, it was obvious the Kings were just a flat out better team than the LA Lakers that year and really in that series until the refs took over.
Turned the game off at half time thinking Miami had it won easily, wow was I wrong haha. I don't care how good Lebron and Wade are, you can't win in the NBA if you can't rebound.
They definitely don't suck but I enjoy watching them lose.

Overall record wise they don't suck but against winning teams they do.

The Heat put themselves in position to win pretty much every game they play. Yes, they have lost to the top teams in the league, but they don't get beaten by more than five points against those ball clubs. They can play with the top teams, but they can't close games out. That is their problem.

I don't know...blowing a 24 point lead on your home court against anybody like they did tonight is pretty bad. Splitting with an average NY Knicks team (Knicks winning the last two meetings) is not good either, and I'm not sure they have even beaten Boston or Chicago at all this year (I know they're 0-3 vs. Boston).... Miami just seems extremely overrated and probably won't make it out of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals if they even make it that far....just my opinion.
You're right, they have not beaten Boston or Chicago yet this season. The Heat have a number of established teams ahead on their schedule in the next eight games, so it'll be interesting to see if they can show that they're capable of closing out the league's best.

I just looked that that 8 game run. You're right, It is a serious test.
We will know a lot more about the heat after this two week period.

"The Miami Heat are exactly where everyone wanted us. Losing games, (so) the world is better now." - Dwayne Wade
There is enough melodrama and hype surrounding this team to warrant a low budget, poorly edited reality TV show on VH1.
The Miami Heat have now dropped their fifth straight game with the most recent loss coming from the Trailblazers. This is what their schedule looks like for the NEXT five games.
vs Los Angeles Lakers - Thursday, March 10th (TNT)
vs Memphis Grizzlies
vs San Antonio Spurs
vs Oklahoma City Thunder
@ Atlanta Hawks
You might think their least challenging opponent in this stretch would be the Grizzlies, but they're no pushover. In the past week, the Grizzlies have pulled out victories against the Spurs, Mavericks, and Thunder. Not to mention, they've already defeated the Heat once this season already.
"We could probably lose every game we have left and still make the playoffs." - Lebron James.
Hell, dude, why speculate at this point? Make. It. Happen.
