HaHa, sounds like a... Ok, can't wait for that. Thank you.
I can't wait for this season, but I'd like to hear more about the girls on the show.
It probably works fine on MTV.com, on Netflix it says it's unavailable.
really? i guess someone must've kept the copy.
Random mention of the show in this joint Dr Pepper/Snapple group and MTVN press release. Apparently they're still using it for product placement. The PR mentions that the season is the 25th - maybe MTV is going to make a big deal out of that. Either way, its a good sign for the show that CPG companies are still signing on with it for major projects like national rollouts.
Just read that "sun drop" ad. Interesting.

I don't know if this has been pointed out yet but it's just been announced that MTV Spring Break 2011 is taking place in Las Vegas in March (roughly around the time this new season is supposed to air). Definitely programming strategy on MTV's part. So if anyone's still wondering why Las Vegas, that's one explanation... either to coincide with MTV Spring Break 2011, or to get the MTV audience ready for it.

So it's pretty reasonable why it's going to air in March. Murray actually answered that here's what he said in the article;
basically because they’ve run out of cities.

MTV doesn’t seem to think its audience will notice, because the names just ignore the previous seasons.

Vegas, L.A., maybe San Diego, Miami, New York — these are the cities that young people dream about living in. … The show has always had a fantasy appeal to it.

the place they choose “has to be a big enough city so we can get lost in it” so that the show won’t become “big news. … When you’re in a large city like New York or Los Angeles or even a city like New Orleans or Las Vegas…people aren’t so focused on you, it’s good not to have people lining up in front of the house to see what’s going on.
Why The Real World keeps returning to the same cities + reality blurred

I didn't say it was THE reason, I said it was one of the reasons. And I also know for a fact that MTV had some degree of influence on the decision of the city and it's totally in line with their plans for Spring Break 2011... Not to mention Las Vegas was determined as the next MTV Spring Break location soon after Spring Break 2010. Of course Murray has his reasons as well, hence;
I don't know if this has been pointed out yet but it's just been announced that MTV Spring Break 2011 is taking place in Las Vegas in March (roughly around the time this new season is supposed to air). I think MTV goes wherever the Spring Breakers are. They have done Vegas for that before and it isn't as big as a production as it was back in the 90's with 24/7 coverage. I still think RW should try Memphis or Nashville and go overseas again.
Michael Adam Royer just posted a Facebook update: "Just found out my show airs march 9th at 10pm, can't wait!! It gunna be the best season of real world everrrr"

Hopefully this break gets people more hyped to watch and MTV decides to renew the series.

The @RealWorldMTV twitter is already updated with a Vegas look and following the new roommates. Speaking of twitter, I also came across @rwmoments which posts a different RW moment with every tweet, pretty cool!
Hopefully this break gets people more hyped to watch and MTV decides to renew the series.
Not sure one can equate a break with "hype." Enlighten us, please.
I'm just waiting for a teaser! When MTV? When?!
Not sure one can equate a break with "hype." Enlighten us, please.
Actually, yes you can. Take the new 90210 or the recent renewal of the children's Power Rangers franchise which was off the air from 2009-2011. The break was so big that the hype built up for new promos, teasers and the like. Same with 90210. After they originally announced the new series everybody and their mother were trying to find out information about it, who was coming back, quitting for good, etc. Not to mention US!Skins. So yeah a break does build hype.
I'm just waiting for a teaser! When MTV? When?!
Ok everyone wanted to know the premiere date/time of Real World 25: Las Vegas, right? MARCH 9th, 2011 at 10:00PM - mark your calendars! (from the verified account of @RealWorldMTV on twitter)
I'm just waiting for a teaser! When MTV? When?!
If it's airing on March, teaser trailers should air around mid February. Knowing how MTV has changed up things, the teaser trailers might air like the ones for Jersey Shore 3.

When was the last time they really did anything creative and dynamic with their returning series promotion? Most of the time, good things seem to fall into their lap (Jersey Shore) and are not the result of intense, creative advertising. Recently I saw The Bachelor commercials on SyFy and BRAVO, both NBC-owned cable channels. I thought it was an interesting expenditure to seek out an audience from two somewhat diverse core viewer demographics.
True true. Mtv has been know to slack but I hope they get their mess together this new year.

There are tons of quality scripted dramas, reality/competition shows, and comedy outlets. MTV doesn't even do a good job promoting the show within its own network let alone spend mony on outside advertising. Neither a break nor a huge advertising campaign will help until there is better editing, better casts, and better backdrops IMO. The Gold Standard in reality TV is now yard sale TV. I am hopeful that Vegas may a surprise season for different reasons than some may expect, but it could just as easily run the train off the tracks, down the embankment, and into the river.

Do you guys feel like they screwed up the schedule for this one? This show could easily be pulling 2+ million viewers if it were to air this month. The overall ratings for MTV are up, a show like "I Used to Be Fat" would be scoring rather low but instead it's getting 1.2-1.4 million.
I believe I used to be fat has a slightly different appeal and would do okay regardless. Putting Vegas around the time of Spring Break might feed into getting more of the decadent college crowd to watch.
when are we supposed to get a teaser, trailer, official cast release, anything........?
