The NOLA listings were for 23 weeks...hardly "short term end dates".
Wow! Other than the end date I would think thats absolutely it! But the fact that it says to not apply for any other positions seems fishy. If this is it, looks like they'd probably start filming next month.
Don't you think there would've have been sightings and photos by now? Unless I'm wrong and the season hasn't started filming yet, but to my understanding it has...
I find it hard to believe they would do two "Back to" seasons in a row. But then again MTV never ceases to amaze me.
I actually wouldn't mind any "Back to" seasons. It's 2010 (going into 2011), times have changed and so have the cities themselves. Prime example: New Orleans 2010 vs. New Orleans 2000 (and even the greater New York area; Brooklyn 2009 vs. New York City 1992 & 2001).
I would love to start seeing The Real World go back to a few of it's original locations from the 90s. San Francisco especially, it's a totally different city than what it was 17 years ago.

OK, but the Chicago job says nothing about the possibility of an extention.
The job listing in the first post of this thread says 23 weeks.

I took "Please do not apply for any other positions!!!! SERIOUSLY!!" as a possibility of an extension.
***,haven't they already been to Texas 2 times already?
They need to go to somewhere new!
They were in Texas 2 times? I thought only Austin.
I don't think MTV will pay people to scout out new locals. I think they are becoming lazy and cheap. I would think they would re-use a city they have already been to.
Miami, Chicago, LV...
(Brooklyn is basically the same as Manhattan where 1 and 10 were filmed, Cancun is where they have there Spring Break and New Orleans was filmed in 2000)

Don't forget Los Angeles and Hollywood are one and the same.
It was only in Texas once. S7 was supposed to originally be in Dallas, right?

Was S7 supposed to be in Dallas? I never knew that.
You're right. I forgot to add in Hollywood. 4 out of the last 5 installments have been used by MTV, in some capacity, before. Hollywood (S2), Brooklyn (NYC S1,10), Cancun (Spring Break), Washington (NEW) and New Orleans (S9).
And they filmed FM in Australia, where S19 took place.
Cancun was also used for the vacation of Hollywood even in the same hotel I believe. I see them going back to Miami this season for some reason.
Doubtful due to Jersey Shore being in Miami

But there are a dozen of cities that they haven't done yet so I think they need to put a little more effort into choosing cities.
Oh and Whoever said that BMP is getting Lazy and Cheap is spot on.
I think both series are going to be renewed. Considering that RJ Berger is getting a second season after it's HORRIBLE ratings.
RJ Berger got picked up? Literally half the ratings, in a far less competitive time slot. Pathetic.
Yeah I can't imagine RW getting the can. It's getting Demo numbers that few cable shows in history have been cancelled for. The Challenges (I assume) cost a bit more and have less value to the network in a historical sense, but the ratings still make sense IF they don't have anything better. Renewal of RJ Berger to me indicates they don't.
P.S. Amber Lancaster, from RJ Berger, is welcome on any challenge, any time, I don't care if she's never been on RW or RR.
I also honestly don't think the challenges are going to end yet,
knowing it has been a long series for a while already.
MTV has a lot of horrible shows that get horrible ratings.
The Challenge series isn't so bad with a average of 1.2 or 1.3.
So if Real World and the challenges do get picked up for more seasons, is it not going to be produced by bunim-murray anymore?
Why wouldn't it be? I'm sure Bunim-Murray holds most if not all the rights to the programs, including the formats, as well as the archival footage, which is useful in the challenges.
Hey! I like RJ Berger!
But back on topic, I can't see them canceling the challenge. I think it's time for it to go, but at the same time, I'm sure with the right amount of promoting that it can do better with the ratings. I mean, look at how well RW is doing this season!
Why wouldn't it be? I'm sure Bunim-Murray holds most if not all the rights to the programs, including the formats, as well as the archival footage, which is useful in the challenges.
I was asking because I heard before that they sold the series.
I was asking because I heard before that they sold the series.
That wouldn't be a smart move for BMP, that's their trophy show. They would sell any of their other (lame) series before the Real World OR the Challenge.
I was asking because I heard before that they sold the series.
I think you misunderstood. Jonathan Murray and his partners sold control of BMP to a French company about 3 months ago. But Real World stays with BMP under the umbrella of the new company. Kind of like how Frito-Lay was acquired by Pepsi many years ago, but Cheetos don't say Pepsi on the back of the bag, they still say Frito-Lay, because Frito Lay still makes them.
Now it makes sense, I was wondering why the Banijay logo was appearing after the Bunim/Murray one.

NOLA has more than 2. So did DC, Cancun, Brooklyn, Denver, Austin, Philly, San Diego...
I don't think racial diversity is an issue for Real World.

Well there still hasn't been an Asian-American Male on the Real World...EVER..that's sad.
There hasn't been an Asian-American on The Real World, but maybe it's because not enough tried out, or they just weren't interesting enough to make the cut. I don't think it's a racial thing.
