Was he drafted in the first round?
Pick 496.
So not exactly.
Maybe the scouts missed it. Who knows.
I'm pulling for him Insider! :D

He's going to have a glorious career in AAA :D
Just in case anyone was wondering which division (AL East) was the best in baseball...
1. Rays
2. Yankees
3. Red Sox
Tied 4th Min
Tied 4th LA
Tied 4th SD
7. Toronto (Tied with many)
That is the list of teams with the most wins in MLB, in order, 1-7 and 4 of them are in the same division...
I don't know how it works. I just know the news said he was drafted by The Texas Rangers. lol
If AAA league members count, I went on a few dates with one my senior year of high school. Haha. Now that I'm an adult, that sounds creepy.
At this injury rate, the Sox might have to trade for a new team before the July 31st deadline.
We were finally kicking on all cylinders, but with Dustin definitely out for a long, long time and Clay in jeopardy - I can't see how we can win. Not to mention Jacoby and JD are out. Not to mention Youk is playing through injury and our best backup hitter, Mikey Lowell is on the DL. Not to mention Dice-K just came off the DL (oh ya, and Cameron too and our backup OF Hermida is still on the DL.)
Josh Beckett - Out.
I can't remember a year (and I've watched for many years intently) where the Sox have been this devastated by injuries.

If Pedroia needs surgery, I think it would be safe to say the season is in dire straights. We are going to have to replace that B on their hats with a P (Pawsox) because we might have a full minor league roster by August...
I'm watching right now and thought that ball Lester hit had a chance. Bacchus, we can't hit the panic button yet. We've been playing well despite pretty much not having an outfield for most of the year. I think we'll be fine, but Pedroia getting hurt is definitely a crippling blow to this team.
Lester is taking CUTS at fastballs. He is such an athlete that I bet he'd be a monster as a hitter if he actually focused on that part of baseball. I see him swing and he is a dangerous. One big guy with pure athleticism.
I want to add, that VMart is a warrior. He said something to the effect of, "Ya, it hurt, but I just kept playing and on the inning change I couldn't fit the glove back on my hand so that was it."
Yeah Vmart has always been like that, one of the reasons he is one of my favs.
Watching 10th of this LA/NY game and it is ugly... LA went from 6-2 to 6-8 real quick... was hoping we'd "win" the division tonight.
Anyone take a look at the current All Star voting? Haha, the Sox won't have any starters, yet they have the 3rd best record in baseball (although I am sure a pitcher or two will get the call along with a reserve fielder.)
I really don't care as our guys need the break.
The Padres will not have any starters even though they have the best record in the NL!
Obviously when a guy like Adrian Gonzalez doesn't even make the top 5 at first base in the NL, you know there is a problem with fan voting.
The good news is the NL fans always make the REALLY stupid calls, which is why they can't win the All Star game...
Still, I'd like to see a more hybrid solution in the future where the standings played into how many players from each team could be nominated and selected. The game decides home field advantage in the World Series, so shouldn't the team with the most at stake (i.e. the team leading their division) have more representation than another team not in contention that just happens to be in a big market with lots of voters?
Heh we might as well just let the Yankees play the game and win HFA for us ^_^
Definitely not a big deal this year because some of our good players will still be injured.. just glad to have the break so they can recover.
Heh. I like the little side comment of "Idiot" at the end. :D
The Rangers are tied with the Yankees for the best record in the entire league.
Impressive but come on, it's the American League West and the Rangers had the easiest inter-league schedule in all of baseball and capitalized. If the Yankees or Red Sox were in the AL West they'd win 110 games every year...
Did I mention I have the best tennis singles record in America this season? We'll, I played this really nice group of third graders every day for the last 3 months and amassed a 90-0 record, and then I went to the street over and lost to a high school kid in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
But I am 90-1! Whooo hooo! I'm the best I'm the best! I'm the best!

Ok well first off the Rangers may have had an "easy" interleague schedule, but they normally blow games against ****** teams and this year is different. Secondly the AL West isnt that bad. The worst team in our division is way better than Baltimore, who the Red Sox and Yankees get to play 18 times a year. If im not mistaken the Angels swept the mighty Red Sox out of the playoffs last year so i dont think the Sox would have such an easy time winning the Al West as you think.

First of all, the Sox are 4-0 against the Angels this season (and let's be honest, the Sox were not the best team in the AL East last season, the Yankees were and they owned the Angels. The Angels have won one post season series against the Sox EVER...)
And then of course we took their best pitcher to make sure it doesn't happen again. He's know relegated to 3rd string, and eventually 4th (i.e it will probably be Lester, Buchholz, Beckett, Lackey, Dice-K if everyone gets healthy.)
Secondly, the Rangers are 1-5 vs. the teams that matter in the AL (Yankees/Red Sox) and 6-11 overall in the AL East (yup, you got to play the O's too.)
Playing the Pirates and Marlins is schedule padding, while the Sox were playing the Phillies, Dodgers et al.
(And the reason for that is people like to see good teams play each other and the rest of the teams get to just continue to remain in obscurity.)
Here are some quick numbers...
Out of the last 14 World Series, a team from the AL east has won half of them. The NL won another 5. The AL Central won one and the AL West won one.
So, at this rate, you can expect the AL West to win a handful of titles, every hundred years and the AL East can expect, um...50.
I mean, you guys are 8-2 against Seattle. That can't hurt...
p.s. The Orioles are not as bad as their record shows. They just have to play the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays 18 times a year. Can you imagine the Rangers record if that was the case? You guys would be struggling for .500! :wink2:

Those are all valid points, but as of today the Rangers are tied for the best record in the league and im happy about it. Hopefully we can avoid a late season meltdwon and make the damn playoffs for once.

Fine. I'll let you enjoy your moment. :D
Records notwithstanding, Texas has played 3 more home games than NY so I have to give the Yanks the slight edge there.
The AL West is generally pretty bad... seriously, 8 games above .500 and a -3 run diff? The Angels are terrible... I am grateful that Seattle is bringing their A game against NY this week though.
Interesting speculation on the future rotation Bacchus... if I were setting the rotation today it would probably be Buchholz-Lackey-Lester-Wakefield-Matsuzaka just based on consistency of past performances.

Well, if I was setting the rotation, today, clearly Buchholz would be on the bench being he pulled a hammy running the bases. ;)
That said, Lester is the ace. There is no question about that in my mind. The guy has mind blowing numbers since his resurgence. Cy Young numbers with his last start being a complete game.
As for Wake, he is a slow motion timebomb and there is no way Terry will send Beckett to the pen and keep Wake in the rotation, lol.
Seriously, Beckett is an ace. He's been hurt all season. He will be healthy and when he is healthy, he is one of the top 10 pitcher in baseball.
Lackey is 4th and Dice-K 5th. That will be the rotation in late September/October.
And with the scheduling change that forces teams to use 4 pitchers in the ALCS, it will make a difference.
