I like the pink hat... Even if it's a Yankee hat.
As much as I hate boston, I hate the Yankees 1000 times as more. Go Boston!
I like the pink hat...
Let's go Red Sox! Interesting that Drew is batting 7th, but I guess Terry wanted to keep it L-R (even though Drew is a more prolific hitter than Beltre.)
It is kind of weird for Pedro to be opening our season, but understandably he was the centerpiece of the Boston organization for so many years. Of course, he lost us the series chance in 2003 and wasn't really effective in 2004 and then left on shaky terms. Blah, ESPN2 is blacked out, not that I'd want to listen to those [strike]Yankee cheerleaders[/strike] sportscasters anyway... (Although I do see they have Nomar and Schilling on staff.) Favorite Pedro moment: Edit: Just saw this on Twitter and laughed... - Nomar just picked the Phillies to beat the Red Sox in the World Series. Will he make it out of Fenway alive tonight?
I loved the kid giving the herb brooks speech @ Fenway. When he said screw the yankees, it made me think of the picture of a kid flipping off the Yankees. Also, GO SOX!
I loved the kid giving the herb brooks speech @ Fenway. When he said screw the yankees, it made me think of the picture of a kid flipping off the Yankees.
It was good and will be a youtube moment tomorrow. Great first inning. Let the rest of Beckett's night be in that mold.
I think the Yanks are shaking in their boots after that speech ;)
I thinking if CC gets a little off balanced the momentum of his belly could cause him to tumble... This is a physics reality!
Ugh....a Pesky homer.
Back to back shots.........not looking good to start off a season BECKETT!
Back to back shots.........not looking good to start off a season BECKETT!
The first one was a 302 foot line drive, which would be a single in most parks. The second one was because he let the first one get to him... He'll settle down in the third, but two runs is a good spot for Mr. Belly man (otherwise know as CC Sabathia.)
And we traded Granderson because...why?
And we traded Granderson because...why?
Ya, that wasn't pretty molds. I don't think there really is a good answer for that...
And that is why I took Youk were I did. We are going to be seeing those doubles off the wall all year long...
I'm going to guess that if Papi does not homer in the first 10 games, Lowell will become the DH against lefties and then the DH period a few weeks later.
Cameron was safe by a mile....
I'm going to guess that if Papi does not homer in the first 10 games, Lowell will become the DH against lefties and then the DH period a few weeks later.
Great double play, go Yankees !! 27 and counting, woo hoo !!
Dr. Dre in Red Sox gear ??? What the !! My goodness !!
Breaking ball is not working for Beckett. He keeps feeling the outside of the plate, but just missing.
Fastball is a coming... Beckett only has two pitches right now (Fast and off speed) and in trouble. Needs to tune his breaking ball this week. If he can't find the plate with it, he is predictable and not himself.
5-1.......that's it......tv now shutting off.
5-1.......that's it......tv now shutting off.
This is when I start flipping back and forth. Beckett just didn't have it tonight. Need to count on the fact that CC's count is high as well and he can start becoming vulnerable. That said, there is a lot of good TV on Sunday night.
Dustin beat that out. Sox are not getting any calls... The AL Umpires are based out of Manhattan, so it is no surprise. But, I love his fire! That is what we need.
Finally...Francona should have pulled him much earlier when it was clear he did not have his stuff. I love Beckett and think he'll win 17-18 games this year, but when your guy on the mound doesn't have it and you have the pen the Sox do, you go to the pen.
Alright, time to run CC. Let's go Sox. Edit: He got back his composure, but I think he will be lucky to make 5 1/3.
I mentioned this earlier, but that is why I took Youk where I did. Big game hitter (not that this is a big game, but it is in some sense...)
Aww...and Sabathia is gone...5 1/3...did I say that? ;)
Nice clutch work by Youk. Forget Ortiz as Mr. Clutch. Let's introduce Youkilis as the new Mr. Clutch and Ortiz as "34 Swings and misses". Edit: Nice Hit by Beltre.
And it is TIED.
