You think I should? It was a pretty good deal. Maybe I'll go back.
Heck, I have a closet full of Red Sox jerseys (some retired, like Pedro and Clemens) including a Pedroia. We could be twins! On a much more somber note. Francona needs to bench Ortiz indefinably (or until he loses 30 pounds, starts running instead of jogging to first base and can make contact when my little 8 year old cousin Catlin is throwing him the "heat"...
Anyone see the Tigers highlights? :D Not exactly the best way to win a game, but I'll take it.
Anyone see the Tigers highlights?
Let's just say, I'm foaming at the mouth and barely able to contain myself as I await baseball tonight at 7. :wink2:
Verlander is killing me in the Fantasy League
Heh 6 games in and Petey already has 3 HRs compared to 15 total last year... that is just GREAT stuff! Good show from Varitek but I'm still behind VMart for the time being. **** Tito's loyalty to Papi... Lowell really should be batting DH right now.
Ok, Ortiz has now struck out 9 of his last 10 at bats. Do the honorable thing Terry and make up some kind of injury to get him sent down to Pawtucket. Lester looked really shaky in the first. I don't think it is going to be his day. Love the new Target field. Kind of makes me jealous that 90% of teams in baseball have shiny new stadiums built over the last 20 years (and not 100 years like Fenway.) Although, I do feel there there is really no better place to see a day game than at Fenway in the summer. It and Wrigley are the only two old times gems left in baseball.
This just in: Josh Beckett's career slugging percentage (.231) is higher than David Ortiz's current slugging percentage, which stands at .208, or so low that a pitcher, YES A PITCHER, would be a more viable option to bat 5th in the Red Sox order at this point. I'm ready to go into pitch fork mode...
Heaven forbid you look at Micah Owings batting average in his career
Heaven forbid you look at Micah Owings batting average in his career
**** .298 lifetime, with a .544 slugging percentage. Wonder if they'd consider throwing him our way for Lowell and Ortiz (we'll pay their entire salaries, of course - all $24 Million) and a couple prospects? ;)
Damn .298 lifetime, with a .544 slugging percentage. Wonder if they'd consider throwing him our way for Lowell and Ortiz (we'll pay their entire salaries, of course - all $24 Million) and a couple prospects? ;)
He was the best batter on his college team. We sent him to CIN for another player at the same time when sent Carlos Quentin to the WhiteSox for another player. Both of those players were then used to get the DBacks Dan Haren. I miss Micah because the guy refused to have a pinch hitter and he would pinch hit for other pitchers if asked. His first hit for the DBacks was a HR over the left field wall too.
Well... 0.500. Not a great place to be in the AL East but we've a long way to go. Should be an interesting race if the first week and a half are any indication. How long can Pedroia go with the 50% HR/game ratio? Who knows but I hope it's a while longer!
How long can Pedroia go with the 50% HR/game ratio? Who knows but I hope it's a while longer!
He projects out at 81 HR this season. Sweet! The PEDs infested Barry Bonds home run record will fall!
Bottom of the ninth, Red Sox up to bat with the score tied, and...AND....they roll the tarp on the field. Just looked at the radar and this one will not be completed tonight, or maybe not even tomorrow (with a forecast for rain, rain, rain and rain.) Looks like a double header with an extra inning or two from a third game on Patriots day!
And the Sox go down in order in the bottom of the 9th...
Bases loaded with no outs. ****. David Ortiz is up... ::sigh::
Come on Big Pop Out, hit a pop out! - so the runner from third can score. (Never mind, he hit into the shift as usual.)
Waive Ortiz. Waive him today. Make him an unrestricted free agent and we'll pay all 12 Million of his salary for anyone to take him...
I am too ****** off to be legally allowed to type on the internet right now. I am ready to say, fire Francona and he along with Ortiz can find new jobs together. He is not managing. He is being loyal. Loyalty does not win games nor does it explain the ticket prices we pay in Boston.
**** I wish Beltre hit after Youk instead of after Papi... Suck is apparently contagious :(
I don't think I'll even watch the scheduled game tonight.
Go Celts! (Great Bruins Hockey game today too, eh?)
First no-hitter of the season a little earlier than I had expected!
Top of the 19th? Now that is a ballgame.
First no-hitter of the season a little earlier than I had expected!
Always love to see a no hitter, but he threw 128 pitches. I bet he throws four innings next start and then ends up on the DL. You don't throw this many pitches in an outing, no matter what. You set the ceiling at 110 and then you pull them (if you want that pitcher to be effective during the remainder of the season.) Great personal accomplishment. Let's not hope it is his last in the near future.
Go Celts! (Great Bruins Hockey game today too, eh?)
A GREAT Bruins game today definitely! :D
Did anyone see Ty wiggintons perfomance today. He has as of so far played really well.
I can already see the headline in the Globe tomorrow: BOSTON MASSACRE (They do tend to over use that one, lol.)
My only consolation is that at least its the Rays who are stocking up on wins. I'd rather they win the division/WS anyday over the Goon Squad ^_^
My only consolation is that at least its the Rays who are stocking up on wins. I'd rather they win the division/WS anyday over the Goon Squad ^_^
Agreed. If we are going to flop during this bridge season, I'd much rather have the Rays be the beneficiaries.
I find it funny how the Blue Jays are actually above .500 right now. With the fact that they lost Halladay they so far have played decent.
