So only Tori and Katie have won a challenge before -- but they won in GROUPS-- individually.
The only challenge format we have seen thus far that you can win as an individual is the Duel. So only Wes, Evan, Jodi and Rachel have ever won a challenge as an individual.
So saying they won in groups is kind of a moot point since almost everyone that won, has won in groups.
I agree with faceless, even if you win, it's still a win. You went home with money. Even everyone that has won in groups goes into an elimination round. Katie won infernos to get herself to the end even though her team hated her and she helped so much on the final mission puzzle, without her, her team may have lost. Tori won a Gauntlet, if I remember correctly. I mean they all go in sometime and a win is a win in my book, whether it was individually win or a team win. :)

Not necessarily true. The entire rookies team in G2 with the exception of Alton and Kina never stepped into an elimination round.
Don't forget the Gauntlet 1, I believe Roni, Theo, Adam, Dave, Darrell and Rachel on the RR side and Nathan & Norman on the RW side never stepped into a Gauntlet.
I am a fan of the one hour format. With half hour episodes the season drags on and on and on...
Inferno III was a struggle for me (running 4 months) and while I liked some of the cast members from Sydney, there were really only two memorable episodes in a season that lasted 5 months!
The 30-minute format works if it's done right.
It worked perfectly for BOTSeasons, BOTSexes and The Gauntlet. A challenge and an elimination in a 30 minute episode, still jam-packed with drama and all.
I don't think it ever worked for the Inferno series because they had two challenges before each elimination round. That's when it started to drag.
It's just proof again how different the challenge has become.

Agreed...
Mark Long is on Twitter BTW: @marklongMTV
He would love to be the host for the next Challenge(s). I think we need to start a campaign. For those of us who remember his hosting, he is just more alive instead of laid back about it like TJ.

I wasn't about to name everyone who never went in, but yes you are right.
I would rather forget about Gauntlet 2, I thought the format/elimination rounds in that one were not the best...lol :)
I actually liked the eliminations for Gauntlet 2. I will say that the team captain thing seemed like a good idea but in the end it wasn't so great because the same person would have to go in every time. The Gauntlet 3 had a better format since anyone could really go in instead of one person. Also the eliminations were pretty cool. I felt that this was the turning point in the challenges because this was like the first challenge to have very physical elimination rounds. I know in the past they maybe had like one physical thing like on the first Gauntlet they had that Mud Bath mission but that wasn't as physical as the most recent stuff. Also there was Balls In for the Inferno 2 which was a great elimination. The Gauntlet 2 though had some pretty physical stuff though. I like seeing more physical eliminations rather than something like standing on a block and listening to music or eating hot chili peppers. If I was going to be sent home, I rather get a chance to prove myself in an actual elimination, not a food eating contest.
I enjoyed The Gauntlet II but I didn't like the whole concept that the team captain would go into the elimination every single time their team lost. That was a bit unfair.
They had some physical eliminations rounds in the first gauntlet... Climbing up the rope (Alton wooped LT's ****), The joust (where Mike hit Abram off the beam), and even the 2 hanging from the bar gauntlets were physical (Sarah vs. Irulan hanging by the feet and Katie vs. Rachel [B2NY] hanging by their hands).

I prefer those kind of eliminations (like The Gauntlet's) instead of the "fighting" type of eliminations. I don't enjoy watching the cast have to wrestle each other or get really rough with each other. It seems a lot of viewers enjoy it, but I don't.
Also I was thinking. What are some of the biggest mistakes made in the challenges by either an individual or team.
For example.
On battle of the sexes, I think Veronica not voting off Emily was a bad idea since Emily voted Veronica off right when she had the chance. Also the girls just getting rid of their strong players on a personal basis was a bad idea too.
Battle of the seasons- Road rules team voting off their strong teams to make sure they stay in the inner circle, especially getting rid of Veronica and Yes.
The Gauntlet- Alton sparring Coral and sending in Theo to the gauntlet. This is what made them lose the final challenge with Coral's spider bite.
Battle of the Sexes 2- Not getting rid of Arissa lol. The whole girl team was just going on personal basis for who they would get rid of and once again they ultimately lost like the first time.
Inferno 2- Beth telling Robin that stuff about Tonya. I kind of felt Beth could have made it to the end on that challenge. The ******** not listening to Karamo about them going to vote him in.
Gauntlet 2- The vets voting in Beth against Ruthie. I mean they want to get rid of Beth so they send her in against Ruthie who is like 50lbs lighter than Beth since Ruthie is very small. Plus they saw how some of the Gauntlets were physical. The only chance Ruthie had was Capture the Flag.
Fresh Meat- Wes picking Casey because of her looks rather than her abilities. Also Johanna and Jesse forgetting their flags at the puzzle stations. They could have been in the game still if it wasn't for that since they would have won.
The Duel- Evan agreeing to go against CT if Wes takes out Derrick. Evan def got the **** end of that deal lol. Also Beth and CT ripping the flag. Well Beth's wasn't as bad with this because she was the first to do that duel but since CT already saw what happened he should have know and the fact that he flipped out about losing yet when it happened to Beth he just didn't care. Tyler choosing Johnny was a bad idea because the Key West kids could have stuck together and kicked ***. Paula choosing Aneesa to go against rather than Casey. Diem adding more weight to the crate during the I Can duel.
The Inferno 3- Susie sending in Rachel to the inferno rather than the much weaker Colie. Ace not listening to Johnny about the mission for Giraffic Park about finding the right match and then saying Johnny never told him lol. Timmy forgetting to break the last piece of glass during "Smash House." Alton, Ace, and Timmy not doing the Grape Smash challenge because of the speedos.
The Gauntlet 3- Janelle choosing Jillian to go into the Gauntlet. The rookies sending in Frank over Ryan to go against Tyler. Danny making an agreement with the rookies. How Melinda saying "Good Job guys, sending in your two strongest girls" to her team when they sent in Tori against her. Please you are definitely not the strongest girl, probably the weakest on the team. Melinda threatening her team. The vets trying to get rid of their girls instead of Eric. The vets sending in Johnny against Evan. Nehemiah screwing up during the "I Dig You" challenge. The vets sending in Melinda over Tori into the Gauntlet since if they sent Tori in, she would have chosen Jillian and the vets would automatically get rid of one of the strongest girls on the team.
The Island- The cast deciding to do this challenge. Rachel making her speech. Tyrie making his speech.
The Duel 2- Robin choosing to go against Kim rather than Brooke who is much weaker. Paula aligning with Dunbar and getting out-cast.
The Ruins- Brianna choosing to go against Susie. Adam choosing Syrus. Wes assuming he can beat Cohutta. The challengers not sending in Casey when they had the chance. Darrell punching Brad.
Fresh Meat 2- Wes getting rid of his own alliance members and turning his alliance against him and Ev.

This had me ****ting my pants... :D
This had me ****ting my pants... :D
I just feel that Melinda was giving herself more credit than she deserves. It is not like she was excelling or proving herself much. I didn't hate her until that episode when she was sent in.
Wasn't it the first BOTSexes when the girls forgot to dismantle the cube puzzle and the guys just cheated and used the girls' puzzle to put theirs together? I'd say that was a pretty huge mistake.

It was the first one. Colin said if Emily was there, she would have for sure ripped down the puzzle, because she was that mean. or he said because she was the devil something along those lines haha.

Timmy didn't forget to break the glass. It just didn't break, there was a flaw in that challenge. It wasn't his fault.
Also I was thinking. What are some of the biggest mistakes made in the challenges by either an individual or team.

Haha! This one brings back good memories. Holly and Chadwick looked like the biggest hypocrites once Chadwick and Piggy slipped to fourth. And Jisela was so mad! She wouldn't even let Adam talk to the inner circle after Yes and Veronica were voted out. The first few episodes of that challenge were so ridiculous!
Here are a couple of other big mistakes...
Jeremy volunteering to go into the second male Inferno on the Inferno 1.
Antoine not talking his time on the Maxium Velocity challenge after Jamie disqualified. He could have made it to the final challenge!
Tonya becoming a member of "Club Zero" during Battle of the Opposite Sexes. I can understand people not wanting to take their clothes off...but not her. She could have gotten her score up and avoided going home.
Also, do you guys remember when Jaime tried to save Veronica with the Lifesaver on BOTSexes? I thought it was pretty silly that he wasn't able to save her.
I thought on the Inferno that sending in Mallory as opposed to Coral or Leah was a pretty bad idea. It wasn't a horrible mistake though since I think the outcome would have been the same, and Leah ended up getting eliminated anyways, but I always thought that decision wasn't the best.
On Battle of the Seasons, I think it was a stupid mistake for Stephen to well, be Stephen. Otherwise he and Lindsay probably would have made it further.
I think it's a mistake on the casting directors part anytime Paula or Jenn is cast since they add nothing, but idk if that counts.
Also, do you guys remember when Jaime tried to save Veronica with the Lifesaver on BOTSexes? I thought it was pretty silly that he wasn't able to save her.
I REMEMBER THAT! It was hilarious! The girls were like "Veronica, we're sending you home", then Jamie comes out and is like, "I'm using the Lifesaver on Veronica" and all the girls were like in shock! I was laughing so hard! I was like "DANGIT!" when Jonny Moseley told him he couldn't use it...I didn't see why.

The Ion Life Saver was meant to be used in advance. Otherwise, the game would've been too predictable.
The Ion Life Saver was meant to be used in advance. Otherwise, the game would've been too predictable.
Yea, Jaime never told anyone he was saving Veronica, and he did clearly state that prior to the girls eliminating Veronica we intended on saving Blair, so I guess he did break a rule.
I wasn't about to name everyone who never went in, but yes you are right.
I wasn't expecting you to molds. I was just throwing that out there as well.
Anyways, Jamie's failed attempt of saving Veronica was such an awesome BOTSexes moment.. how much more awesome would it have been if that had followed through, that girls team would've been in for a DOOZY.

[strike]oh yea, i totally feel you on that. thats what had me ****ting my pants, that was so funny. she did try to act all tough. she was definitely not one of the strongest players on the team. but, she did mediocre in the missions, but that comment was just waay over the top![/strike]

Does anybody else think the challenges now are TOO physically demanding? The exiles look too difficult....I don't really enjoy watching the cast suffer through these challenges and exiles. I miss the older challenges that were more fun and less physically demanding.

I feel like it has to be physical. They are competing for a lot of money. I don't think they should just compete in silly missions to win like $50,000. Even shows like "WipeOut" have physically demanding stuff lol. I don't think every challenge should be very physical, like on survivor. However I rather see more physical mission rather than silly ones because the physical ones get more interesting. It also depends though on the teams or concept. If one team was much weaker in strength then yes, physical missions would be boring because one team would dominate. In my opinion though, physical missions are a must.
