Yikes, the Braves are opening up on the Cubbies!
Great news! Baseball is going to be good this season (if the past few days are like the entire season)
The Phillies are good but that was against a team with 100/1 odds to make the World Series...
And I think 100/1 was being overly generous! :D
And I think 100/1 was being overly generous! :D
Hey! A win is a win..
I drafted Jason Heyward. Waived him to grab a pitcher. Saw his first MLB at bat (three run BOMB.) Grabbed Jason Heyward 25 seconds later. ****, this kid is going to be special.
Yeah Heyward is going to be a monster. Good Opening day for me. the Rangers won 5-4 over the Blue Jays with a walk-off hit by Saltalamacchia.

VMart is on fire tonight!!
VMart is on fire tonight!!
I think VMart is Fire in Spanish, No? ;)
Si! :D
Still tied at four. Run "prevention" and pitching means nothing at Fenway in April with the Yankees and Sox. It is the team that scores the most before the clock runs out...
BTW: I loved the territory map. It would be interesting to see where the real lines are with teams.
Jeter is good. I hate him, but he is good.
BTW: I loved the territory map. It would be interesting to see where the real lines are with teams.
There is an info graphic out there that shows where the blackout areas for teams are. I thought it was interesting comparing the two. I'll see if I can find it again... Edit: Here is a similar one from Wiki:
Jeter is good. I hate him, but he is good.
Luckily he gives us a gift now and then ;)
Walks in a run... The Red Sox never walk in runs. The worst kind of run.
Walks in a run... The Red Sox never walk in runs. The worst kind of run.
Definitely the worst kind of run. At least it didn't happen in the top of the 9th.
Youk!
Youk's on again! I love that man, I really do. Plus we have the same b-day so we are practically soul mates, right? ;) Why did I not draft him when I could?
Y Why did I not draft him when I could?
I think he is one of the most underestimated good players in baseball. He is not a "superstar" but he is a keeper. I love his spirit. The way he approaches the game. Joba in....now my hate come out, lol.
I think he is one of the most underestimated good players in baseball. He is not a "superstar" but he is a keeper. I love his spirit. The way he approaches the game. Joba in....now my hate come out, lol.
Completely agree. I've loved him from the very beginning when he was being shipped back and forth between Fenway and Lowell. You never heard a complaint and whenever he got called up he would come out and perform and play hard. He continues to improve and has proven to be an asset to our offense and infield being able to play multiple positions. Left field is probably his weakest though ;) I HATE Joba. I dislike him so much more than ARod. It's obvious he thinks he is god's gift to baseball but he really hasn't proven himself enough to have that attitude. And unlike Youk, I've heard him complain and be a poor sport WAY too many times. Having DUI charges really doesn't help your case much either in my book. Do not like Joba the Hut. Edit: Boo Cano.
Two down. I am an old school fan. No matter the recent success, I always think there is a zero percent chance of a comeback. Maybe that is why I get so excited when we do. In the back of my mind, I think that we have a 55% chance of getting those runs back in the bottom of the 9th, but I don't want to tell the front of my mind that.
Haha, I'm the same. I thank my dad and grandpa for that. Even if we are leading by 5, my heart starts beating faster and I start getting nervous when the 9th inning starts. I'm also pretty much totally defeated when we start the 9th down thinking all is lost for this game and the entire season. So it definitely makes any comeback that much more enjoyable! :D
Ah well, we can still take the series. :D
I'll be strikingly honest. I've been brought up to care about the Red Sox to the point that when they lose, like tonight, I have trouble sleeping. I have to escape my thoughts and settle into a dream state. It is a sad fact, but the truth. I live or die by my team.
Haha, I'm the same. I thank my dad and grandpa for that.
My grandfather (who is in his late 90's) told me 10 years ago that I would die, never seeing the Red Sox win. He was very happy to be wrong, for once. ;)
Same here. It's actually gotten better since I've been out west. I think it helps that when the games end I still have hours to spend doing something to take my mind off the loss before I go to bed. Back in NH, games usually end right when I need to sleep so it's all I'm thinking about while I try and drift off. Right now I am watching Idol and Biggest Loser to help me go numb and forget about the loss long enough to fall asleep in a few hours.

Ok, 1 and 1 and we have Lackey tomorrow vs...um, some guy. I feel good for the series. I'll sleep well. Not to mention I have Lost in the can to enjoy right now. :D
I'm fairly certain that fully applies to me and my Cubbies. I doubt I'll have any of your luck. :(
We were in the same boat a few years ago. I just don't think you guys have a chance against the Halladay machine from the city that brought us Born in the USA. I fully think there are 3 better AL teams, but in the NL, you have a rough road ahead.
For those who may have missed one of the greatest Opening Day hits this year, here is Stephen Drew's Opening Day Inside the Park Homerun: YouTube - Stephen drew inside park homerun
