I already have a feeling this is going to suck
Care to elaborate about your "feelings"?
The only thing we know about this season is the location. You know nothing of the cast, you know nothing of the house, and you know nothing of the dynamic. So how can you say that it's going to suck?
Yes, there have been casting mistakes in the past, the last season was awful, and the franchise is slipping, but all it takes is one great cast to get them back on the saddle.
Yes, there have been casting mistakes in the past, the last season was awful, and the franchise is slipping, but all it takes is one great cast to get them back on the saddle.
I agree. I hope that they pick a really good cast this time, where every single person brings something to the table and they all have their own stories to share. I love the idea about helping NOLA due to Katrina. I think that would be a great assignment for the cast.
I hate to get ahead of everyone here -- but without a doubt this will be a "party" season. The casting directors told me they were alternating between seasons (just as we've confirmed on here). So I doubt the cast will be as deep as DCs.
Also -- the casting director at the casting calls only kept people for callback who liked Cancun season over Brooklyn. Just letting you know. My friend and I both witnessed that in two different casting calls.
I would expect they will have an episode or a job that will do something with rebuilding New Orleans -- but the entire season will not be like that.
I've never been to a casting call, but I don't see them only casting people who liked Brooklyn over Cancun that seems foolish. Hopefully BMP will just cast the 7 most interesting personalities. I'm sure they will go out and party but New Orleans is a diverse town with a lot more to it and a alot more to do than Cancun.

It was extremely slanted -- they were only passing people through were VERY different than people they let through for RW23.
At the casting calls I've been to the past 2 years, they always talk about the prior seasons. For RW23, they talked about how "America went through an obsession with blondes and partying and our show echoed that. What is your opinion about those seasons? What did you think of Brooklyn?" None of the people who talked about just partying made it through from my table. The people who did make it past that call were artisitc, unique-looking people that seemed interesting.
For RW24, they asked everyone did they perfer Cancun or Brooklyn. The only 2 who got moved up where two that like Cancun. They were both muscular guys who were morons and seemed to want to cause trouble. It could have just been my group but my friend who went to the casting call earlier that day made a similar observation about her table.

I think it makes perfect sense.
They obviously are alternating between so-called "party" seasons (Hollywood, Cancun) and so-called "mellow/serious" seasons (Brooklyn, DC). Why would they want people who enjoyed the more serious seasons to be on a season they are prepping to be the opposite? It wouldn't make any sense.

I don't see them chosing someone to move through just because they like Brooklyn or Cancun. I don't think that gives anything away about a person. Cancun was a disaster even if you like to party. Besides Mardi Gras I wouldn't define New Orleans as a party city. New Orleans is a very artsy city.

Well, this is BMP. They are idiots. You saw Cancun. You admit it was a disaster. This is what we as viewers get to deal with...casting mistakes.
Brooklyn and Cancun were very different seasons. I don't think I could have pictured any of the Cancun kids in DC. I think, from what I have seen so far, that the majority of the DC kids have a head on their shoulders and aspirations. I did not see that from an entire season of Cancun with the exception of CJ. I think it's much easier to cast for a "party" season than a season like Brooklyn or DC. They aren't looking for depth.
New Orleans is very much a party city although it does have a lot of other things to offer. I would venture a guess that the majority of adults ages 18-24, if given "New Orleans" as a topic, would most likely either mention Hurricane Katrina or Mardi Gras. That's just how things are now.
That's why I believe that New Orleans is going to be a "party" season. I think if they wanted it to be an "artsy" season, they wouldn't have had it in the first half of the year during Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest.
Knowing what BMP has turned into, I might be crazy but I'm thinking this will be a good season with a good cast. I'm basing this entirely on my love for the city of NO which gives me no argument. Just wishful hoping that they'll do the season justice.

I agree. It is basically a confirmed party season for the following reasons:
1. Jon Murray said they were going to alternate seasons...and this falls into the party season filming slot.
2. The cast members are being given jobs (not having to pursue their passions)
3. The application forms were shorter and less detailed (it is much harder to cast a DC-style season...so they need more information to do that)
I'm not saying they want do something with Katrina...that will likely be mentioned for an episode or two...but it won't be the central focus. I imagine Katrina will appear just as much as Aiiya's cutting stuff did.
Katrina happened 4 years ago I don't expect it to be a huge deal, especially if they are living in the french quarters which has so little damage. I'm sure we'll see a couple of episodes of the damage still there though. I hope their job is working with the kids from the Ninth Ward or something like that not rebuilding houses that's been done. Hollywood was a supposed "party" season and they didn't have a job....In Cancun their job kind of ruined the partying and the whole reason the season was in Cancun. I still think with the diversirty of the city that it will be a developed cast and yes I expect a lot of partying.
from someone's twitter stating they may be working on RW24...in New Orleans:
"It was hot in new orleans all the way to the bay today i picked up sas at the airport and i MAY be workin on the next real world!!"
"WORKING for the show no way would i be on it"

They worked with kids in RW Boston ;-) Remember the kid making the insensitive remarks about gay people to Genesis (the lesbian)??!!

It was yesterday to the Katrina survivors. Denver's job with Outward Bound was with the devastated kids from NOLA area .
If you watch the first episode of Denver you'll see the wrath of Katrina.
Sorry, the Katrina aftermath is on the casting special.

Word to this post.
I couldn't stand when one of the cancun cast members (I forget which one) put "the same thing would probably happen with the Brooklyn cast if you put them in cancun." No it wouldn't. First of all Chet and Scott don't drink, and although I'm not a fan of all the castmembers of Brooklyn, they have brains. In fact, if BMP stuck them in Cancun they'd probably be like ***.
It really does not have **** to do with the location. Yeah, of course gonna they're gonna cast partier's for Cancun, but Vegas was a party season, and it was a good party season. The Cancun cast did not bring it, at all.
I love how they were all like "yeah we did so much stuff besides party, you will see it when the episodes airs." That dif thing? One freaking thing. You were basically a professional party planner, don't claim to be something your not. There is nothing wrong with party seasons (I blame everything on the cast, not Cancun), but they hyped their season up to be something it was not. ***** at one of them saying the reunion was one to go down in the books, really, what happened?
I know I will prefer DC over Cancun, from what I'm seeing already, but that does not mean the season will be amazing, which I hope it will be.
As for NO, they can cast people who like to party with interesting stories. That seems to be one of the problems, they can never have a good balance. The Brooklyn cast was one of the more diverse cast (diverse in that they were all extremely different and had different stories) but it wouldn't have hurt for them to have a little more fun (and not bat**** crazy cancun fun).
BMP just needs to have a good balance, it shouldn't be one or the other. I think thats why Hollywood was such a hit, I mean not all of the cast had serious issues but they were interesting people, love them or hate, even the d-bag. The cancun cast: just nothing. The problem is nothing was memorable about that season. At least for people who think Brooklyn was boring Katelynn and Ryan will always be remembered and they both are inspirational people.
I just don't get why BMP can't have a good balance. Wiggy did say that the DC cast were partiers, but so far, I just don't see it. BMP will show what they want regardless, but I think the show would have better ratings of it was a mix of both.

I definitely do not agree with this 100% considering the FIRST New Orleans season featured cast members with VERY interesting back stories. None of them necessarily had career goals to pursue in New Orleans but their backgrounds made for one of the best seasons in the franchise.
At the same time New Orleans real world was 10 years ago, and considering they've definitely changed casting styles since, it could be a party season, but it could not be. I think you guys think you know BMP better than they know themselves, you never know what they might have up their sleeves.

Yes...I forgot to mention that I think the casting style has changed very much since it began. I think it's changed pretty drastically over the last couple of years.
The first New Orleans season was one of my favorites and I have my fingers crossed that the incoming cast can live up to the hype that the original season produced.

Thats what I mean as its not so much the location, its also has a lot of to with the cast. But lately they've been catering to two separate audiences, so molds is right. Casting has changed, and not for the better.

I'm not trying to downplay the devestation Katrina caused and how locals are still affected by it, however I just don't think the job should be rebuilding houses. I think it would be cool if someone was ast who has lost everything to a natural disaster and see them get involved in rebuilding projects on their own and not have it orchestrated by BMP. I think the job should be something like what they did in Chicago season, I don't think the Denver season had the same affect cause they were with the kids for what like a weekend?

I agree -- I wish there was more of a balance in the casting -- I agree with you 100% on that statement.
For RW24, there were several people in our group that said they liked both Brooklyn and Cancun and that Brooklyn was too serious and Cancun was too over the top. But the casting director only selected the 2 people at the table who liked Cancun and who, honestly, annoyed me.
I hung around after the casting call and watched which people came out with additional paperwork. There was definitely a strong trend among the type of people coming out. The people did not 'look' interesting or balanced -- there were a lot of muscular guys with skin heads, thin grungy trouble-maker looking guys. I didn't see any females come out with extra paperwork so I can't speak to that. There was even a kinda interesting VERY PRETTY Asian girl in our group and she didn't even get paperwork -- then again, she also said she was a Brooklyn person and did not enjoy Cancun.
My observations were very limited as I was only there for a couple of hours. But I do know what I saw was VERY different than DC casting.
Cancun was way too much partying and Brooklyn was way too boring. Neither were "serious" seasons. Hopefully New Orleans (and DC ) can be better.
Brooklyn was a serious season, you didn't watch the whole season so how would you know?

Eeek, well we can only hope for good casting. BMP needs to take advice from the audience.
