So which name isnt your real name?????
I'm only kidding. It is my last name. However, be assured that I am not Christopher or Martin ;)
The Washington Post would like to interview me at 330pm... perhaps i will 'clarify' all of this then...
The Washington Post would like to interview me at 330pm... perhaps i will 'clarify' all of this then...
Oh Snap! Sounds like a good time;)
The Washington Post would like to interview me at 330pm... perhaps i will 'clarify' all of this then...
Hmm, why do they want to interview you? I mean you only have 2% of the information. Shouldn't they be talking to someone with 98% of the information that practically lives in the spare room at the house? Oh...maybe this is for something other than The Real World? :wink2:
Interview is done...we discussed the issue of journalistic best practices...she mentioned it to me! also, stopped by the house on my way to starbucks for interview... mike, ty and josh are all individually running around going about their day without cameras or bmp staff. mike went to safeway, josh is walking around and ty was at the gym.
i guess my 2% are those that matter?
Ahh, yes - that makes sense. :D
Note: I got 98% of this information when hangin’ with these fine roommates
I was told by a very reliable source that she has only talked to 1 cast member and was told at that time to "go away" by another. She has not recieved any info from them directly. I am sure they are all thoroughly creeped out by her stalker ways and she just isn't pretty enough to use her "wiles" to get into the house so I call Bull****.
Just got a message from EB paraphrased - your name is on the page...that settles it. so i guess she thinks when you're wrong, you can post a backhanded comment and that makes it right? REALLY??? And I got the same email about how eb stands by the work from stephanie... So I wonder this: the fact the 'credit' keeps changing indicates they realize the foul...no?

dramaaaaaaa. Are we still talking about Elizabethany?
I would assume so TJ.
So... Earlier today I wrote a response on my phone, and then the link expired and I lost everything and that was a fiasco in and of itself. As far as MetroMixDC goes -- I believe they (hopefully) have gotten the message. After receiving an e-mail from Stephanie (producer) who basically copy and pasted (hmm...) the same email she sent to Bacchus, I also got a message on Twitter from @metromixdc. In fact, I got several messages. A private DM and a public one. The message read: @metromixdc: @RealWorldDCNEWZ @ollignom thanks for alerting us to improper sourcing. We will make it right for you and we appreciate what you do. Now what I find interesting in this is 1) Martin (EB's cohort - @ollignom) claimed yesterday that he didn't have an issue with the sourcing of his pictures from Cobalt... But that's another story. So I just checked out the Metromix site... and Elizabethany's previously snarky comment (about the 98% v. 2%) has been edited with live links: Note: Thanks to these contributors: Christopher Wiggins, Martin Mongillo, and Sarah Mullins. Each name links to the respective Twitter feed. Now, if I were selfish, I would be (almost) satisfied with this... But, what is missing?? VEVMO.com. In fact, if I were keeping tabs, AND I AM, I would say that the sourcing is still incorrect since Vevmo needs credit, I need credit twice (for my twitter feed AND for the information on cast member last names posted on Vevmo) and truth be told, we should be compensated for the scoop that EB "improperly sourced" from us. After all, MetroMixDC did send out a request for information and pictures, and they said they will pay for pictures and scoop. Well, MetroMixDC: where's my cash? In fact, MetroMixDC, how is it you're paying EB to blog for you when she 1) doesn't actually hang with the cast - as evident by her most recent video (which I will not publicize or link to in any way): however, in said video she claims to be hanging with the cast (but mysteriously, no video exists because she is trying to "protect them".) Again, I call bull$@. 2) She gets ALL OF HER INFORMATION from Vevmo.com, she figures out where the cast is going from my Twitter handle @RealWorldDCNEWZ OR she goes to get the Facebook/Myspace info of cast members which (drum roll please) WE here at Vevmo posted. So my question: What are they paying her for? In my interview today with the Washington Post, I discussed how a hobby blogger who claims to have a broadcast journalism degree from WVU (class of 2009), might be forgiven some minor mistakes... However, sourcing is a major error for any journalist. In fact, when I was in Journalism School, I would have failed not just an assignment, but the entire semester if I had improperly sourced, made up a source, taken false credit, written a snarky excuse for sourcing (as she did with her % comment which obviously MetroMixDC finally removed...) I also talked about how there is plenty of information and a host of outlets that we can all use to cover this season of TRW and that this is more about the principle than anything else. The article should be out tomorrow or the next day. I'm looking forward to it. Even the dear folks at AntiRealWorldDC were interviewed (and I suspect EB was as well at this point...at least the reporter seemed to know that she was having some sourcing issues - she brought her name up, not me!) SIDENOTE: You know you've really effed up, when a reporter from the Washington Post is doing a story on people who cover the Real World DC, and then asks about you by name and your sourcing issues.... Not a great way to find a legitimate journalism job in the future. C'est la vie. I suggest to EB: Stick to your videos. They're cute -- they are creative. But, don't try to flex muscle you don't have. You're just out of school and you think you know so much...and you may have access to Hot 99.5FM and Sirius/XM shows. But, ultimately, you've got a lot of professional growing up to do. Stick to entertainment - but remember CITE YOUR SOURCES. Note to EB: I guess this means that we probably will not be working together...despite our original e-mail correspondence when I released the address of the Real World DC location and contacted you about your videos. This also means that since you chose to take my and Vevmo's info, then demand an apology from me for calling you out on it, THEN let slip a threat of "libel charges' knowing **** well that in order to prove libel first and foremost the statement must be FALSE, our anticipated partnership will likely also not happen. But, you know what, the ball is in your court. So, all in all, we're on our way to resolving this issue which really should never have been an issue. I say - we still need to be persistent. In other news: as I was on my way to Starbucks for the interview, I noticed that Mike, Josh and Ty were each walking around Dupont Circle on their own, no cameras, no BMP staff. Mike went shopping at the Secret Safeway...Ty was coming back from the gym (iPod in ears) and Josh was walking back and forth in front of the house until walking away (while of course smoking). An executive transportation bus showed up and parked outside the RW house and a group of girls with cameras congregated outside the house, waving at somebody inside...but nobody ever responded to them and they disappeared. Several news reporters and camera crews were in the vicinity as well, but I know that the only story that ran today was Lindsey Mastis' story on MTV Real World/BMP issuing a written apology to her and WUSA 9 for the behavior of Ryan Romkema, the cameraman who blocked the news reporters shot on July 2. Alright - that's it for now - it's 100 degrees out, and I've got to decompress. I swear, one of these days, I'll actually sit down and write a cohesive posting. When I'm not fired up.

Plagiarism, improper sourcing, stealing work - all the same.
By the way: I'm LIVING for the fact they acknowledge that there was "improper sourcing". Plagiarism, improper sourcing, stealing work - all the same.
I am glad that they have rectified it to some extent although clearly some of that information was taken from here and we were not afforded a link. That being said, it was a good team effort to light a fire in this situation and I am glad they recognized the error of their ways.

And in a professional manner, not in the EB way. By the way, EB sent me a message earlier saying that some last names will be removed from MetroMixDC (her blog about meeting the cast). I don't think this has happened yet. And, while I'm pretty sure she said this to try to avoid having to source the information, I believe that in order to drive this lesson home (short of her being fired from MetroMixDC) the last names should be removed as she promised, or a source should be cited after each-and-every last name of the initial cast roundup on her blog. But that's just me.

She was fired?
Wow, definitely not a good way to start your journalistic career! An old college roommate of mine is a journalism major and she would NEVER not give credit where it's due. Maybe she should move to DC and do some reporting of her own? She is looking for work after all and is right around EB's age, though I think she is much more interested in political reporting so she would probably just stalk Obama instead so she could profess her love for him and bond over all things IL!
She was fired?
No.
We should insist on the link. And in a professional manner, not in the EB way.
I'll continue to be a thorn until common courtesy is applied in this matter. As for your Post article, I can't wait to read it!
Don't get me wrong: ultimately this whole thing is small potatos. I've just dug in because I can't stand when somebody does wrong and then has the audacity to be unapologetic about it and in turn tries to be snarky, cutesy, *****y or all out lying about it. In PR we use the mantra, "admit it and apologize" whenever you or your client has made a blatant mistake. Had she done that, this would never have become a five-ring circus. Just wanted to be on the record with that. Allay the questions of my critics as to whether I don't have better things to do or why I don't "get a life."
Don't get me wrong: ultimately this whole thing is small potatos. I've just dug in because I can't stand when somebody does wrong and then has the audacity to be unapologetic about it
I agree entirely. That sideshow copy & paste blog gets about as much traffic as my inbox on a slow saturday. The only reason I am involved in this "drama" is because of the pure disrespect and shady egoism displayed. When challenged initially, she should have just said, "Whoops, let me go ahead and cite that." - but instead fortified her untenable position. As minuscule as this blogger stands on my radar, there is principle involved and the criteria has been met for me to care, albeit only a little bit.
there is principle involved and the criteria has been met for me to care, albeit only a little bit.
I am adding this phrase to my repertoir....
I've got to give MetromixDC credit. After their producer earlier tried to blow Bacchus and me off and stand by their newest re-post happy freelance blogger, a different representative has taken the lead. This person just followed up with me to ensure they have the proper sourcing info. I asked them to please add Vevmo.com since Vevmo is the primary source for 75% of the factual content on that blogger's Metromix blog. The remaining 24.5% comes from her following @realworlddcnewz and 0.5% comes from her overhearing things while she's out stalking the cast. I've got to say, it took a day and a half, but I believe the right person is taking charge over there to enact damage control.
I've got to give MetromixDC credit. After their producer earlier tried to blow Bacchus and me off and stand by their newest re-post happy freelance blogger, a different representative has taken the lead.
This is reassuring news. I am glad to hear that they understand the importance of "standing" in the blogger community. Especially on a story that is generating this much buzz across the city. I am sure from their perspective it is not worth flushing a reputation down the toilet over this incident, especially as it has picked up speed and is about to get a wider audience with the impeding Washington Post article (although I am assuming there will only be vague references.) I'll be watching to see if the appropriate edits are made. I'll especially be watching future posts to see that all materials are properly related back to their origin.
Oh yes, vague references I'm sure. The primary focus of the article is a feature on those who have been covering the story in the blogisphere.
Oh... EB sent out a tweet last night indicating she was so mad she could scream because of "haters" who are trying to ruin her reputation. Although I find it hard to believe, it would appear she still hasn't learned her lesson... Is that sad or pathetic? I can't decide.

And I think it's equal parts sad and pathetic.
