How has Dempster fared for you thus far? I haven't been following the season very closely.
I won't have him until next week.

I hope he does well for you.
Josh Beckett of Boston Red Sox suspended six games for pitch at Bobby Abreu's head I'm sorry, I may be a little biased, but a 6 game suspension? Really? It seems a little extreme to me. The umps for the game even went on record saying that they thought the pitch was unintentional, and if not for the benches clearing they wouldn't have given him a warning. I could see fining him like they did for coming up to Scioscia and the ump when they were talking, but the rest is too much I think.
That is a pitcher suspension. So what it comes down to is he gets an extra two days rest before his next start. No big deal. He wasn't looking that sharp anyway, so maybe he needs to be put on ice for a bit. ;)

I was giving Sox fan's a hard time for it... but I think 6 games is a little much. If the umps went on record saying it was unintentional, I don't see what the problem is. Did it even hit the guy?

Did it even hit the guy?
Like I said, it is a pitcher suspension. They only pitch once every 5 games. So in reality it just equates to a one game suspension (but not really as it just means they get two more days of rest.) The bigger issues is that if he should have been suspended at all....but you can not give a pitcher a one game suspension as they would appeal and then serve it on a rest day (same goes for a 2,3 or 4 game suspension.)
Yeah I get that it is that long because it is meant to make him miss one start, but I guess I am more peeved with the suspension in general. He didn't hit him, it was after a late time out call, not super late, but late, the players already had high emotions and if they have ever seen Beckett ****** they would know this was not on purpose. Beckett could use some rest though. Maybe he needs to take a break and go hunting to regroup or something...

Are the Sox playing in Oakland tonight? The game is on soooo late.
Are the Sox playing in Oakland tonight? The game is on soooo late.
I am going to try and watch, but I hate west coast trips as the games are on too late and don't end until 1 or 2 in the morning...
Yeah, 7pm eastern. Hopefully tonight will be a better outcome! I'd like to win at least one series.
I am going to try and watch, but I hate west coast trips as the games are on too late and don't end until 1 or 2 in the morning...
These are the only ones I get to watch, unfortunately they are usually on FOX, yuck. I don't get NESN out in LA and I am usually in class/work when the games start so getting mlb.tv is not really worth it for me. Sadly they don't really show Oakland games too much down here so I get stuck following online again, but at least I get to see something!
Do you guys want me to call the wahhhhhhhh-mbulence?
No...it is not a bad thing as they are not playing well. See, when they lose on the west coast nobody cares being the audience is so small (too late for east coasters and west coasters are busy umm...doing what west coasters do.) The west coast is a baseball abyss. It is where you go as a player if you don't want to be seen, lol. However, when they are back in prime time for 80% of the country, they'd better start winning! ;)
The Beckett suspension is BS. This **** needs to be settled on the field where the game is played. Baseball's execs have forgotten where the game came from. Dizzy Dean and Bob Gibson were never suspended for throwing at people and they did it often.

I had to give them all a speech on good sportsmanship. "It's a competition guys. It's fun. You can't win them all." :sarcastic_blum:

I can see it coming already. The Yankees are going to start to lose... a lot. They are going to call it The Curse of Yankee Stadium!
Yeah, but not from the same division!
Oh you know when the Tigs play them it'll be a different story!!
Hope you didn't have Lowrie anywhere near your fantasy list B! Does that explain why he's sucked so much to start the season?
Hope you didn't have Lowrie anywhere near your fantasy list B! Does that explain why he's sucked so much to start the season?
Haha....some guy that had Lowrie tried to trade him to me and I was like, "Thanks but no thanks." As much as I love my Sox, there are some holes in the lineup. Speaking of the Sox. Great game last night, huh? :D

Speaking of the Sox. Great game last night, huh? :D
It was a great game! Coming back from 7-0 and actually providing some offense, gotta love that! I am much happier with Lowrie than Lugo. With Lowrie I actually feel like he could get out of this slump and I am not worried he is going to get a costly error in each game. Although now we don't have either...
