The Island: Episode 4 - Discussion
In this week's episode: Evelyn and Johnny fight over food, Ashli has a ***** fit all over a befuddled Robin--then cuts her foot, Dunbar ****** people off. Ashli, Paula and Jenn face off. This thread is for discussing the current episode (#4) of The Island. If you want to talk about what's currently happening on the show, this is the place to do it. If you want to talk about The Island Dailies, head over here. Head here to discuss spoilers, and here for speculation about how the challenge will unfold.
I'm looking forward to some Ashli entertainment tonight. We have not had any of that around here in quite some time. Call me nostalgic...
I don't know how much more of Johnny I can take! Lol. The thing is, Johnny had never gotten on my nerves in the past challenges.

I can't stand the kenny-johanna-johnny-paula-dunbar alliance! Ugh!
I kind of feel like Ashli is to worried about feeding her ego. I think she should just go home... THATS the HONORABLE thing to do. ..... in my opinion. :)

I think it's going to come down to Johnny, Kenny, Dunbar, and either Dan or Derrick.... I'm going to go with Derrick i hope KA wins a key and gives it to Evelyn!!! i love cohutta with his net on the couch!!!! :) LOL
I am not feeling the block voting. If they go with this format again they are going to have to mix it up. It took Survivor years to figure out how to stop massive alliances from forming on day one and to some extent they still do (although having lots of mini tribe swaps does open things up.)

I thought ashley was gonna quit?
God I hope Derrick and Ashli win just for the pure fact that putting Ashli in was a ********* alliance move!!!! I LOVE DERRICK!!!!!!! LOL Paula got run over like a train!!!!!! I hope there's some redemption next week and I hope the alliance crew FEELS the HEAT!!!!! I can't believe they really let Ashli be a waste of a contender. I'm sooo disappointed that they let this happen.

Ev whines too much. Johnny needs to lay off the name calling... and I agree that the men should have slightly larger portions... the keyword being SLIGHTLY. Oh, and Paula did work hard for that. She got her butt kicked.. she was bleeding for Christ's sake. Bedtime.. goodnight kids.
Wow, **** poor move by Jenn to make a deal with the devils. Hope it doesn't come back and bit her in the behind later on. As long as that alliance stays intact, the smaller the chance she has of being there at the end. Ashli should have left when she knew when she go the stitches. At that point it's not really quitting anyway because she is seriously hindered with that injury. The key should have gone to a more worthy opponent, which is IMO, EV. I'm not usually an Evelyn fan but she had her points. She should have had a chance at getting the key. She surely would have been more competitive than Ashli. And TJ was right, Ashli seemed to be essentially quitting there anyway. EDIT:
Ev whines too much. She should have had a shot at the key, but was unfairly iced out because of that ridiculous alliance. As for Paula working hard, eh, that depends because we only saw an edited version to what seemed like a very long challenge. Jenn was probably working just as hard for that win as well. Getting your butt kicked is getting your butt kicked, blood don't mean anything if you're not strong enough to win the challenge. Paula has never seemed like a physically strong competitor to me anyway. And seriously, Johnny needs to get a clue. If he talked to me like that, trust me, there would be no walking away.
omg, i'm starting to hate this show!!!! For one - who the hell does johanna think she is, sitting there all quiet in a corner, part of her little alliance, where she does absolutely nothing (short of kissing &ss) and somehow is EXEMPT from every challenge or criticism or even the suggestion that she goes in????? Second - I feel SO bad for evelyn. She is probably one of the only legitimate people on this island and is getting totally shafted. I can only hope that they change the rules around somehow and she is able to get the key she actually deserves. What Jen did tonight to help Paula confirms the trash that I thought she was. Third- Paula getting a key...um?!?!? Against naive, idiotic Ashley who would even agree to go up against those two knowing full well that they only volunteered knowing they would win against her???? are you serious??? Who cares if you are staying on the island, using resources, food, etc - it was her RIGHT to stay even with a torn up foot!! These people are all such scum bags and it pains me to see certain priviledged ones who have no right to be, exempt while others are subjected to all kinds of politics and tricks. I REALLY hope johnny or johanna or paula go home...and soon!
Im with TJ on this one. It's apparent the game is clearly being mishandled by the alliance. Looks like next week things will be shaken up a bit. As for the alliance, it amazes me that the other players who are not in the alliance dont group up their votes against alliance members. People let themselves be pushed around, over a "back to highschool" type mentality lock on this game. Now im not saying its not a brilliant move, and Johnny and Kenny are simply enhancing there chances to win and letting the girls handle the girl vote.
It's very simplistic psychology, the "rest" are afraid to vote against the alliance because they see them as so powerful that they think that if they go against them, they will leash those players wrathes against them...they vote with them because they are scared and don't actually think others will vote againast and hence overwhelm the alliance. It is such a ridiculous game...the thing that bothers me is that the people on top are the most incapable, trashy, losers of them all..yet somehow they place themselves in a position of unjustified superiority. GIVE ME A BREAK!!
It's interesting to hear about how much the click like mentality played in every facet of the game. (food, luxury items, cigarettes) things were shady.
The sad thing is, this is the best Challenge format ever. It really is a challenge this time, all the way down to the living conditions. Notice all the chicks covered in bug bites? But by TJ's reaction you can see the producers too were growing weary of the way it was being handled.
i'm dying to hear Bachhus and V1 comment on this episode!!!
I'm dying to know what the big twist in gonna be next week...I know it's gonna be good because it upsets Johnny, which means it'll amuse me! haha
It looks bad right now, but I hold on to the solice that they will only be 4 winners. ...... which mean of Kenny,Dunbar,Johnny,Paula,Johanna, and Jenn .... at least 2 of them have to lose. And without trying to turn this into a speculation page, I don't think Derrick can be beat, so I'm hoping at least 3 of the above screw each other. Say what you want about Ev, but she is calling it like it is ... while Robin and other who see this going on is doing nothing about it. Johnny has to be in an alliance because he is otherwise incapable, so is Kenny .... they only received their keys by popular vote.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!
Exactly, the clique, alpha group mentality seems to have slowly set in on this group of people. What the "outsiders" like Kelly Anne, Jen, Dan, Cohutta, etc. need to do is band together and break apart that alliance. They wouldn't have to necessarily create another alliance, but they do need to realize that as long as they're not part of that inside group, then they're expendable for upcoming challenges. Whatever that core group wants, they should vote against.

It amazes me they were afraid to do it, over what? popularity, worried someone you dont know wont like you? ridiculous. even tyrie.
And another ridiculous thing, is why do they get to determine ahead of time is going in?? Nobody should be able to vote themselves in and establish this all ahead of time depend on who else wants to go in. It should be at least more of a "vote". I just cant get over how naive ashlii is for doing what she did...so naive.
Right, people like Tyrie and Kelly Anne are going up to the chopping block sooner or later. What they need to do is form a strategy while there remains cast mates that aren't biased because once they whittle away all the noobs and outcasts, it'll be too late for any of them.
I agree hello, the way Johnny (mainly him0 is manipulating and setting up the deliberation, before the deliberation even starts, is ridiculous. I agree with Ev 100%, I didn't at first but now I completely do. I can't wait to see what happens when someone wins two keys and who gets the extras.
i'm dying to hear Bachhus and V1 comment on this episode!!!
You all are doing fine without any input from me. B is probably watching the Red Sox lose tonight (well they are losing 0 - 1 as I type this) . This is the one and only time I hope I ever agree with TJ, Ashli's speech was a quitters' speech. I applaud her heart in doing the face-off against medical advice, but she apparently didn't get the pep talk she also needed from Derrick for her to want to stay. Of course, Derrick's alliance wanted her to go so he would remain silent.
Not an Ashli fan at all, but you have to give her props for wanting to go in the Face Off at all, and with a grotesque injury at that. I cringed when they showed the medic scene.. Even though it was selfish [and stupid] of her to take Ev's spot, I kind of respect her for pulling off an Abram (and I find it hilarious how Abe was spared the quitter accusations when he did the same exact thing). But, maybe she really did see Jen's being more deserving to stay, and plus we don't have to see her whining anymore. Everyone wins. :)
I'd like to know how Dumbar fits into the alliance other than Paula has a yucky crush on him and he's physically "big" build wise. :)

Ah, true. :) Then again, Ev said it herself the silver lining in the cloud was not having to hear Ashli's mouth anymore. Hehe Poor Ev..we've never gotten to see her do *anything* besides getting exiled..
Except Evelyn, now, and this will have an affect later in the game.
Hmmm..... I hope this story has a happy ending or at least a partial one ....
