the FAQS says new people can sign up during the first 3 rounds, so the whole thing seems a bit ridicuolus. They put the top 5 vote getters, then 5 wild cards that they choose for the final round. So it is possible to get zero votes and still be in the final round...you just need to post the neccessary blogs and such each round.

However, the votes are cumulative throughout those two rounds, so it's pretty pointless to have the two rounds- and the second is advertised has having the "top 50% of the first moved on to the second", although all applicants are still considered. Apparently after that, only the top 50 "vote getters" (verbatim) make it through to the third. There is obviously cheating going on- and that is why there are wild cards, I assume.
