I have no connection to this season because I never watched it, but I hope Julie challenges Melissa to a wrestling match out on the lawn.
Yea I don't really have a connection either. It was one of those seasons I only watched once because I loved the show. I never caught reruns or got invested in the cast. Didn't interest me. Other seasons like Miami, LA, Hawaii and B2NY I watched obsessively and always caught a rerun.
I wonder what perspective David will give today on how he was feeling back then because his lack of communication with the roommates was made into a big thing. From what we saw, Matt was trying the most to bond/sympathize with him.
This cast was just too vanilla. Even Melissa was against the one black man.
Exactly my problem with the season. Hawaii was pretty diverse with Teck, Ruthie and Colin providing the color and Kaia, Ruthie and Justin reppin for the gays. then B2NY with 3 black people. NO was like the cream in between the two cookies of an Oreo.
Does anyone remember that while this original season was in production you could go on MTV.com and vote on what piece of art should appear on one of the room's digital wall art screen?
New Orleans is one of those you had to be there when it happened (and the Real World was fresh for you) seasons. If you suddenly watch it today, it's not going to have the same impact. I think the first 3 seasons hold up better.
I remembered parts of Hawaii, but Melissa drew me into New Orleans for the entire season. Maybe one reason is I identified with her being biracial and that experience. I don't know if there was a biracial person on the RW before her, but this one definitely stood out. At the time, we found her hilarious and fresh. Today, I think people would think she's too extra and annoying.
Having said that, the "come on be my baby tonight" episode is still hilarious to watch today. lmao. That's the thing that holds up best.
That and I still think Danny was the hottest guy in the house.
Ok maybe it's my sense of humour but the "Come on Be My Baby Tonight" thing went completely over my head. I didn't get what was so funny about it. I was watching like "um ok, is this supposed to be funny?"

It's a very overrated moment. It's not that funny.

same I only know Julie/Melissa/David from the challenge.

I don't think they were against the black man, I think David just sucked.
yeah on the Challlenge too he didn't make any sort of an impression compared to his other cast mates.

You know Matt and Jamie then too but maybe you forgot about them. They're not exactly exciting.

This is so true. David & Matt were the weak links of the season, otherwise it's a standout cast.
David and Matt contributed.
David and Matt contributed more than Danny and Kelley.

This hurt me Gucci but I did laugh
My opinion is that Melissa made this season. Without her big, unique personality it's a snooze.
I've never seen this season is it good?
Not really.
Its ok. It gets more love than it deserves because of small iconic moments and it being some people's first RW season.
Gets way more love than it deserves. I think the first RW theory is true. That's probably why I love Miami so much it was my first.
