pink rose on twitter talking about they should ve have promoted olivia lmao when shes like the least recognized/ liked winne rin love island history
It’s clear that you may not have never work with social media or marketing, which is why you might not understand why brands like airlines, IHOP, and doll companies have been using that show for promotion. My main point is that they had a perfect opportunity to leverage the hype around Love Island as a strategy to attract new viewers and make certain aspects of the show go viral, reaching people beyond the core fans and MTV watchers.
I’m not naive; I know that Olivia, Leo, Theo, and others are not responsible for the recent Love Island surge in the past two seasons. However, since they originated from that show, it’s a great way to capitalize on its popularity. The marketing team really missed an opportunity here. For instance, they could have utilized the "Mami, Mamasita" soundbite from Huda, which had gone viral with millions of views weeks ago, to promote the challenge pages when Olivia announced her pregnancy with another Islander. This is just one example of the many missed opportunities. They could have tapped into these viral moments to attract new viewers and spread the word that The Challenge is still ongoing.
Olivia is the most forgettable winner in LIUSA history no love island fan cares about Olivia enough to watch this show is what I think MrWade is trying to explain but you would rather play stupid as you always do just to have a debate per usual
My point isn't about Olivia; I know her season wasn't popular actually, no American season was before Season 6. What I'm trying to say is that BMP/MTV excuse of casting people from various shows was to attract new viewers. However, now that one of those shows has gained huge popularity, they haven't taken advantage of the fact that they have cast members from that show. This is a missed opportunity to use its viral success as a strategy to promote themselves like many other companies/shows has, attract new viewers, and tell casual fans that don't know about the upcoming season of their challenge.
1. The network hasn't adapted to streaming effectively. Episodes of their shows should be available on Paramount+ the day after they air.
2. There is a need for a skilled social media team with effective strategies to attract new viewers beyond the core fan base.
3. The shows should be scheduled on nights that do not conflict with other Paramount programming.
4. There should be a larger rotation of regular cast members alternating to prevent the show from becoming boring and repetitive.
1. Yup, this is tragic that in the year of our Lord 2025 this doesn't stream legally next day on P+.
2. Social media and promotion are terrible. Agreed here.
3. Tuesdays are RIGHT THERE. I don't understand it and I believe direct competition against Big Brother and Survivor, combined with the decline in cable, AND no next day streaming are exactly why the show is doing so poorly, ratings-wise.
4. Agreed here, but also this is what the spinoffs were about. Keeping a larger pool invested in coming back. The MTV casual fanbase freaked out at 39. With just the flagship and All Stars, you can only keep so many people in the rotation (my estimates are approx 24 vets on the flagship and 16 OG's on All Stars getting on one season every 2 years with obviously 10-12 Super Vets on almost every season).
The Challenge has dropped the ball on so many promising rookies in the past few years: Kelz, Priscilla, Tyson, Alyssa L., Middlebrooks, Shannon, Cassidy, Underwood, Grant, Kiki, etc. And there's plenty of players like Chanelle, Justine, and Monte who were a little underbaked but could've become vets given another chance.

Forgettable and likeable are two very different things BUT to PR's point it's name they know. Let's pretend everyone hates her...which they don't...then they may watch like people watch to see John lose

i gwe your points and not saying you're wrong . but all stars 5 literally was just on this same network and that wasn't promoted that much at all either,. Theres no justifiable excuse for these ratings. idc about cable tlk ( even though it factors in)

All stars 5 ratings were crap too? I've been discussing the show's overall quality ever since "Double Agents" because it has been declining since then. Even during the 2 seasons it aired on CBS, it didn't achieve the ratings typical for that channel. The issues seem to stem from a lack of adaptability to streaming, poor promotion/terrible social media, and a repetitive cast that fails to introduce new regulars long term.
Big Brother's social media marketing team have made HUGE improvements starting with BB26... not sure why they can't do the same for The Challenge
One of the funniest things is when one of the episodes were delayed and they didn't cancel their scheduled tweets so they spoiled the entire episode for everyone

I agree with all but 3...I firmly believe they put it on against BB/Survivor because it's the only way the get anyone to watch MTV that night. 1 is the biggest issue along with not airing it multiple times considering their other options.
I mean this show is horrible for a new viewer, they expect you to go into it knowing what happened before yet they dont make it easy to watch the seasons.
I disagree about LIUSA being unpopular until season 6. It started getting much more attention once it went to Peacock Season 4, but admittedly S6/s7 def got it to cult fan status. Nobody liked the boring musicless PG version CBS produced. Even the new fans are going back and rewatching old seasons, but nobody is rewatching the cbs seasons.
s3 is notoriously known as the least favorite season of LIUSA, and is the "forgotten season." It lost tons of viewers halfway through, due to losing so many popular OGs before the finale. Production of LIUSA doesnt call anyone from season 3 for anything except to be background people so they have been pretty far removed from the LI world. there were about 5 people who were OGs that are much better names and well received than Olivia (Trina, Cinco, Cash, Shannon, and Josh).
like Ive said before, Olivia winning was a fluke because her and the guy she coupled up with were the only OGs left, other than a couple that everyone said was a scam couple. S7 is the first season where two non OGs won, so that may change the pace going forward.
Olivia never really had a fanbase from LI. In fact, if someone mentions Olivia from Li, they assume its Olivia Attwood from the UK, or Liv from LIUSA6, who nobody even calls Olivia.
That being said, any promo is good promo so anything is worth a try, and tiktoks are easy to do. But I really doubt that Olivia could bring new viewers from LIUSA to this show.
If someone was to say hey you remember Olivia from love island ? The first Olivia that would pop into my mind is the Olivia from LIUK who was the main villain on both of her seasons
I think you guys are missing PR point. It isn’t about who they have on the show; it’s about having cast members who originated from that show as a way to attract new viewers without appearing thirsty. I have friends who aren't famous but used the audio recordings of Amaya and Huda on TikTok, and they received thousands of likes, millions of views, and gained new followers because of it. They could have made it seem that cast members from Love Island Season 7 could crossover to The Challenge in future seasons like the ones they have already as way to get new viewers to check out the show.
I mean this show is horrible for a new viewer, they expect you to go into it knowing what happened before yet they dont make it easy to watch the seasons.
Accessibility is a hard issue for a new generation, but it shouldn't affect maintaining your current audience.
For example, Survivor and Big Brother are very stably rated shows and they have returnee seasons with 10+ year vets and the fans are usually most excited for those seasons.

My friend didn't know there was an episode 0. He didn't understand why there was no introduction and how the partners were picked.
I dont think there's anything they can do at this point to make the show blow up on mtv or on a streaming network. Mtv has been a dead network for ages and they market the show as america's 5th sport and edit out drama. Nothing is going to go viral as this show has been on for ages... its just a slow death at this point.

Idc about big brother but survivor is a terrible example. People like returning player seasons of Survivor because they are rare, they don't happen often and fans want to see people back for another chance.
I truly don't believe they have a real/solid marketing team. Fully believe it's one person they've had on the team for 20 years that just pushes the same buttons every season to do the same marketing. No originality, no adjusting to the times/social media. It's actually bizarre to me.
They always put the first episode free on youtube/mtv. They dont put the other 20 episodes after...

There is nothing they can do at this point bc what is honestly so exciting about the challenge that's going to make them go viral like love island. A bunch of tired pushing 40 year olds running around while explosions happen?
Boom. Roasted.

MTV has 4 main issues:
1. The network hasn't adapted to streaming effectively. Episodes of their shows should be available on Paramount+ the day after they air.
2. There is a need for a skilled social media team with effective strategies to attract new viewers beyond the core fan base.

The challenge just suck with streaming and social media like who runs those pages? V1man?

They do have "Episode 0" available free on YouTube
And what's your point?
That those saying they didn't see it have options to stream it
They always put the first episode free on youtube/mtv. They dont put the other 20 episodes after...
And, not having them available to stream is a mistake. I was just sharing this was available because based on posts people didn't seem be aware of that.
Oh. Ok. Give them raises they put the prepremiere special on YouTube and then nothing else.
Literally said none of that
Simply said it was available as it didn't seem people were aware.
You knew we were aware. It was posted on several threads and discussed.
