19 is old enough to understand what racism is, y'all love giving out these ******************
I agree that 19 is old enough to understand racism. I was just making a point that wasn't a grown adult. You don't have a lot of life experience, you are still living off your parents views. I grew up in a small southern town, we were all hardcore Republicans bc our parents were. Most of us who went off to college in bigger cities ended up becoming democrats and changing our views on a number of things. But I don't think that was Georgia's case. I just honestly think she did not know what blackface was. I dislike Georgia for many reasons but I don't think it's fair to label her a racist if she had zero knowledge.
confirmation bias, just because one black person is OK with it doesn't mean its not racist.
she also only half appologized and liked a lot of comments saying it was being blown out of proportion. she should have just appologized and left it at that, no one likes a "sorry, but..."
"That black guy " knows her privately, so he knows her more than we do. But i was more refering to his defence that white people in europe only recently know about the problems with black face.
His defense:
I didn’t know you couldn’t read so well. But like I said, I haven’t condoned how it looks. I’ve only said black face isn’t really a thing here so what ever she done probably wasn’t aimed at being racist as she at the time probably didn’t even know what black face was
Like I also said she is away filming for 4 weeks so can’t comment on it. She was at a kids face paint party. So I’m giving her the benefit of doubt as black face isn’t common knowledge here especially 5 years ago. Sorry if im wrong but it’s highly unlikely i am
theo is the only POC that I remember coming to her defense. Many people have come out and said it was offensive. We are much quicker to excuse friend and family behavior than we are a strangers. Maybe she's not racist but what she did was offensive and instead of just saying sorry she came out with an apology riddled in excuses and liked a bunch of comments excusing her behavior. I don't care if you're at a little kids party, if they are painting a swastica or something equally offensive you're just going to let them? No you stop them and correct them. Black face has always been a known racist behavior, but some people choose to not educate themselves because it's easier. Ignorance is not an excuse, a true apology should have been made without excuses and she should have shown more remorse than she did. She's only this apologetic now because she's worried about it affecting her ability to be recast on future TV shows.
I also did not refer to Theo as "that black guy" so do not put words in my mouth and maybe don't call someone out on their reading comprehension skills when your own are lacking.
I don't disagree with you, it was offensive if she knew what blackface was. I am just pointing out the situation here in Euopre is way different than in america.
Black Face isn't a known racist behavior in Europe, stop saying that if you don't live here!

I remember the emily thing. People tried to bring up the same excuse for that as well saying she wasn't racist or offensive because she dated a black man. Just like some guy here is trying to say it's okay because Theo said it's okay lol
I never said it was ok, so do not lie. I SAID that theo explained that blackface wasn't a thing in the Uk and he gives her pass because she was ignorant. Theo never said it was ok.

I think her excuse was more-so that she grew up in an almost cult-like sheltered upbringing and had no idea what blackface was or why it was bad. She felt genuinely bad i think

19 is old enough, but again that's not what people are arguing. People are saying blackface doesn't carry the same weight in the UK - meaning a lot of people don't know about it or the history or why it's racist there. There are other places than the US you know

Dee wasn't that big of star...most people do not even know who she is.
Taylor S is a bigger star, 900 k on insta...really surpised they axed her, especially with her new baby.
They're going for low hanging fruit and people that are expendable. Dee isn't anyone important to the franchise same for Taylor who is basically a side character of a side character (Cory). This is why we haven't heard about firing of Bananas, Jordan, main cast from Teen Mom and anyone else who is actually "Important" to the franchises. I see them staying quiet about the people I mentioned unless there's a huge uproar (involving major publications) or if they come out saying something reckless.
OKay so it's not seen as racist in Europe...So? What are we supposed to just excuse it then?
I think what people are trying to say is because it may not be a big deal in Europe, Georgia didn't know it was bad. What she did was wrong but wasn't Emily kind of excused for similar thing (not knowing). I personally think Georgia didn't know and wouldn't be mad if she came back nor would I really care if she never comes back. I wouldn't be surprised if they just stop calling her to not risk backlash.
You can tell all folks know is these **** reality shows & haven't learned SHIT outside of whatever curriculum they used for their now mostly useless degrees (outside of essential workers who needed it) & haven't bothered to research or question things outside of the Tell-Lies-to-your-Vision box that millions have in their house; programming their minds daily.
Not only is Blackface a thing in the UK, it's pretty much embedded in European culture with Sinterklaas & "Black Pete", The Morris Dancers, etc. now whether they're doing it as a racial thing or whether they're "paying homage" to my Moorish ancestors; the fact is that Georgia was old enough & definitely aware enough to know what she was doing. She would've been better off just explaining it all instead of playing dumb & being a punk; she was aware of the practice just as a lot of UK Caucasian population (extending to the rest of Europe) are aware. They know who the "Blackamoors" are which is why there's so many depictions of them in some way, shape or form all throughout Europe.

That's her own problem... Shouldn't absolve her or give her any sor of an excuse.
OKay so it's not seen as racist in Europe...So? What are we supposed to just excuse it then?
It wasn't when Georgia did it, unless you took the time ot educate yourself (guess what - none of these reality stars do that lol). It's been seen as racist now due to influence of Americans. If someone did it now, it definitely should be reprimanded. But surfacing photos from when it wasn't really a thing doesn't really carry the same weight.
She, like Emily, made a mistake due to their own ignorance. They more than learned their lesson.

She learned a harsh lesson. It's the intent behind actions that matter. She didn't intend to be racist. It doesn't mean it wasn't or that it was ok. Now she knows better. That's what we're saying.
Georgia did it 6 years ago. I'm not saying it is isn't a thing there but from my knowledge they just aren't as educated on the history of racism there. I doubt Georgia knows anything about blackface in theatre and film there. Her cultural knowledge probably doesn't go farther than the Spice Girls. She was at a kids birthday party, I just don't think she was thinking anything about it when it was happening. She was probably just being silly. If she would have been doing a stereotypical pose, braided her hair, or something I would think she had the awareness. She stuck it out with Bear after he cheated several times, she clearly lacks awareness. She has no signs of insensitive or racial tweets. I swear it's possible for people to make a dumb mistake or decision and not be a racist.

It's prevalent enough in Europe to where I know she's seen atleast a couple other people do this same thing or she's seen the various statues, pictures, etc. I remember one of those English princesses came under fire for wearing a Blackamoor brooch to Queen Elizardbeth's Christmas dinner a few years back. Now whether it was on a racist tip or she was paying homage, who knows but saying all that to say Blackface & blackface depictions are definitely known & visible in the UK; possibly even moreso than here. There's some other UK/European festival where a bunch of people all don Blackface but it's not coming to me right now.
I think it's pretty laughable that we expect others to be aware of things that are more embedded in American culture, when most Americans can't even identify most other countries on a map let alone know anything about their culture. That's what I'm saying.
If she didn't learn from her actions and her ignorance, that's another story.

Ok but that's all knowledge that you know because you're educated on the matter. Watch Georgia taking the UK citizenship test on WOTW2. The girl doesn't even know anything about her own government let alone culture and history. lol Again, I'm not saying it's okay to be ignorant. I'm just saying clearly the intent to be willingly and knowingly racist was not there.
Esther along with a bunch of her other BKChat castmembers most definitely had an issue with the situation so that should tell y'all right there that it's a "thing" that's looked down upon overseas as well. If it was only embedded as a historically racist issue over here we wouldn't have heard Esther say a thing.....those festivals & celebrations that I was talking about have been under scrutiny by the melanated European population for years just as the blackface depictions have over here. THEY KNOW.
Let me just be clear, I think it's GOOD that she was called out. I think it's good they left her on the sidelines for a season. I don't think it's excusable to be ignorant anymore and there should be punishment for it. And even if it was in the past, she needed to be slapped on the wrist and needed to learn a little history.
However, I think that someone like Dee who is making snide and stupid remarks in the middle of a very heated cultural revolution is a much more stupid and punishable offense than someone who is an idiot and doesn't know their history and didn't know why an action would be racist. Dee deserves to be banned, just like Camila deserved to be banned (though she wasn't for being racist unfortunately). I hope all the castmembers who have done similar to Georgia are given the same treatment of being sat out a season or two. I hope that the men like Johnny, Jordan, Zach, etc. face punishments and it's not just the newbies or the females.
I don't think anything of the sort will be tolerated moving forward, but ignorance in the past, while annoying and idiotic, doesn't deserve a ban.

Ester knows because she's educated on the matter. Not everyone over there is ignorant to it, especially now. Again, watch the video of Georgia struggling to answer questions about her government and structure. This girl still doesn't know shit about her own culture and at 19 where she probably was just drinking and **** hopping, I highly doubt she took the time to learn it.

Theo didn't know, Montana didn't know, doubt Kayleigh knew. I've asked my UK friends about it a few years ago and less than half knew. You can listen to Esther talk and Georgia talk & tell which one is way more educated. Georgia has a diverse group of very close friends (yes, I know that doesn't make you antiracist) and none of her tweets have a history of racism or prejuidice. I just don't buy it with Georgia. I think some of you want her to be racist, it's like a "gotcha" thing for you.
I think it's pretty laughable that we expect others to be aware of things that are more embedded in American culture, when most Americans can't even identify most other countries on a map let alone know anything about their culture. That's what I'm saying.
If she didn't learn from her actions and her ignorance, that's another story.
Listen I'm only going to say this once... Blackface is offensive point blank period. IT doesn't matter what culture you are in if you do black face you are being offensive and fueling a toxic act that has been used to humiliate black people for more than a century. Just because someone in Australia or China do black face does not make it any less offensive. That "well it's only offensive in america" argument is so stupid.

Idk about Europe but in some Latin America countries like Colombia they still do it in some "Carnavales" in some city over there. I was shook when they had people with black face last year in the news to promote the "carnavales" starting like nothing when I was in a vacay there :
What does her nationality have to do with anything?
You are refering to the american cival war or am i wrong?
No I am referring to blackface. Blackface has been around since the 1800s and it was something used to humiliate black people in movies, plays, and cartoons for many years. It doesn't matter what her nationality is, if you do blackface you are being offensive.
19 is old enough to understand what racism is, y'all love giving out these excuses.

Idk about Europe but in some Latin America countries like Colombia they still do it in some "Carnavales" in some city over there. I was shook when they had people with black face last year in the news to promote the "carnavales" starting like nothing when I was in a vacay there :

No I am referring to blackface. Blackface has been around since the 1800s and it was something used to humiliate black people in movies, plays, and cartoons for many years. It doesn't matter what her nationality is, if you do blackface you are being offensive.
