Things that went down on The Island and The Ruins wouldn't be able to air now days without getting this show cancel. From the horrible treatment to girls to the **** shaming to the transphobic comments against Evelyn to Tonya treatment to the mysoginist prank to removing the girls top to getting in the showers while the girls were showering without their permission and the list goes on with things that also didn't air.
13(??) years later and I..I'm still in shock at how the men treated the women in a lot of seasons but specifically on the Island. And Bananas is the main person I remember doing it. The way he would speak to Kelly Anne and Evelyn..
The Island and The Ruins treatments against the girls were horrible production enable those 3 guys behavior in such a way that now days wouldn't be able to fly. Which is weird because The Duel 2 wasn't as dark as those 2 seasons even though it air in between maybe like you say Bananas played in a major role on the darkness of those seasons.
I rewatch those 2 seasons a few months ago and I am surprised that they though that behavior was okay.
I feel like 90% of the cast made transphobic comments about Evelyn in the late 2000s.
The way they treated Evelyn on the Island was horrible

Yea I just rewatched the S#!T They Should've Shown and most of those "pranks" on The Ruins where they guys ganging on Tonya with the baby powder, tossing pee water on Sarah, tying Casey to a chair and holding her up to a fan that had dirty underwear on it... definitely would not fly today. And production put all that in the actual episode like they were proud of it.

It makes me sad knowing someone who worshipped the show is over it. That shows you how bad it really is. This isn't Big Brother. All that isolation isn't necessary and killing the vibe. Production clearly wants to create a toxic environment so drama can occur but the format of the game will naturally bring drama as we saw during the golden era.

Another thing about John that is so irritating is that throughout the years he would do non-stop self-promotion but whenever a new star arose and tried to come for the crown, he goes out of his way to discredit them. Devin becomes the first dude from AYTO? to make a final, John says he accomplished nothing the whole season. Cory, Hunter and Nelson have the initiative to join forces and form TYB, John says it stands for Thank You Bananas, Paulie wins loads of tribunals on WOTW, John calls him a parasyte and says Paulie just wants to be him. I could go on and on. The more frustrating part is his fans don't see through that manipulation and so that's why Amanda gets so much hate, that's why Devin was so loathed, that's why Paulie has so much hate. What he did was build up this fanbase of idiots that think the show needs him and anyone with a brain that knows its better to target John will get trashed on by his fanbase. Go on Reddit, people constantly complain about Paulie being super arrogant when that's exactly what John is but he somehow he gets a free pass. The only people John ever spoke positively of where the people in his camp. Think of that moment in the reunion where he calls Josh one of the most loyal people he knows and says the oppossite for Paulie to try and put him in a bad light even though he's describing himself. Cara's response was great. "It takes one to know one."
Its a positive to not have him on another season because there are other interesting characters this show can be built around. We all enjoy the show for different reasons. I love that is used to be like a fun adult summer camp. Being on the show used to be like a dream as a teenager. I enjoyed watching them have fun, party, mixed with good ole messy drama. I never cared about the missions. Now they don't have fun and the little drama they have is so awful and embarrassing. Getting paid to party with friends is why they all used to show up. Now they show up for social media clout and it's turned tragic.
