Just a heads up that this starts tomorrow night. Here's an article about it. And there will be two winners, one male and one female. I'm a tad upset about no results show, but it's definitely for the best!
"So You Think You Can Dance" fans won't be surprised to learn that, yet again, the Nigel Lythgoe-run passion project is changing the game on its dancing contestants. For the first time, two winners will be named at the end of Season 9 -- one male and one female.
The bad news for "SYTYCD" fans: FOX cut the results show, so there will only be one dose each week.
How will that affect viewer voting? As Zap2it previously reported, couples at risk after a prior week's performance will be asked to perform solo routines the next week then the judges will decide who is eliminated.
The good news: Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") will be returning to the judge's table along with other guests, including Debbie Allen, Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Adam Shankman. Host Cat Deeley, along with full-time judges Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will also be back for the summer.
Season 9 kicks off on Thursday (May 24) with two hours worth of auditions in Dallas and New York. The show will move through a series of already-taped audition cities around the country until June 27th's Las Vegas call back episode where the scads of dancers will be narrowed down to just 20 finalists. They'll start their live competition shows on July 11.
Once down to the top 10, finalists will again be paired with a "SYTYCD" all-star as the show hurtles toward the winning guy and gal.
