So You Think You Can Dance: Season 9
Just a heads up that this starts tomorrow night. Here's an article about it. And there will be two winners, one male and one female. I'm a tad upset about no results show, but it's definitely for the best!
"So You Think You Can Dance" fans won't be surprised to learn that, yet again, the Nigel Lythgoe-run passion project is changing the game on its dancing contestants. For the first time, two winners will be named at the end of Season 9 -- one male and one female. The bad news for "SYTYCD" fans: FOX cut the results show, so there will only be one dose each week. How will that affect viewer voting? As Zap2it previously reported, couples at risk after a prior week's performance will be asked to perform solo routines the next week then the judges will decide who is eliminated. The good news: Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") will be returning to the judge's table along with other guests, including Debbie Allen, Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Adam Shankman. Host Cat Deeley, along with full-time judges Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will also be back for the summer. Season 9 kicks off on Thursday (May 24) with two hours worth of auditions in Dallas and New York. The show will move through a series of already-taped audition cities around the country until June 27th's Las Vegas call back episode where the scads of dancers will be narrowed down to just 20 finalists. They'll start their live competition shows on July 11. Once down to the top 10, finalists will again be paired with a "SYTYCD" all-star as the show hurtles toward the winning guy and gal.
via
Well, I've got my money on the 2 year old.
Well, I've got my money on the 2 year old.
I wish they didn't so much time focusing on that woman's kids and instead spend it on her dancing. She was great and one of my favorites of the night.

Her kids were adorable though, you have to give her that.
I missed it due to having a new phone. Was it any good?
I missed it due to having a new phone. Was it any good?
I think it was pretty decent for a premiere episode that focuses on auditions. They didn't seem to show as many horrible acts this season, although I did fast forward through one or two. I'd say give it a watch. There were quite a few great dancers that blew it out of the water.
I watched last night's episode. Lol at dude falling. I still feel bad but it was funny until he didn't get up.
I was upset that they didn't tell us what happened to him and they decided to wait until next week.
It looks like he was in the waiting room for the final picks, so maybe he got to skip his final solo or was well enough to do it.

Mainly because they kept referring to his "fall" as possibly hurting his chances, which made me think they are having to pick him for the Top 20 just based off of his previous rounds of dances.
Ok, I didn't see this thread.. so the past 5 episodes, my BRIEF take... 1) Dallas and New York auditions was just so-so. Nothing really particularly amazing... Although, I think (not sure) there was the martial arts dude who trained in many other styles of dance. I like him. 2+3) Atlanta auditions was awesome. Definitely my favourite audition episode. Los Angeles was pretty great too. Def. two good episodes. 4) Salt Lake City was good. 5) Las Vegas week was interesting. I feel like they showed a whole lot of Cyrus (which I didn't mind because I like him), but honestly, I don't think he would make it. I feel like they want him to because he brings something unique, and I want him to also, but being fair, he isn't as good as other people in terms of being able to do many different styles. IMHO, they showed us way too much of that blond girl... I forgot her name, but I do not like her, but it's obvious the judges do. She can dance, but she's just blah for me. So the dancers I like- Cyrus, martial arts dude, the Whitney ballroom dancer girl, the ballet dancer shy boy, girl with the fro whose brother was in the car accident. As you can tell, I'm not very good at names.... :/ Sorry.

She's the one that was cut last year against Ryan, I think that's who you're talking about.

My friend thinks they are trying to push her on the fans so she will be liked, but it really isn't working.
I think Cyrus can pull off a Legacy and be good at some styles. His Contemporary was actually good. And his Solos will save him when he's in the bottom. Usually they really showcase a few people on the vegas episode each year. I think this year was Cyrus, Alexa, Amelia and Lindsay. I will be shocked if they dont bring Hampton" "Excorist" Williams back for the finale. Dude's freaking amazing.
I just remembered that the ratings for this season will probably go down whether the lives are good or not due to the Olympics. What does everyone else think?
I heard there is gonna be a season 10 but I haven't heard about any auditions and I haven't seen any commercials. Does anyone know when it's going to premiere
