I don't get why they record trw for 4 long months to air only 12 episodes. Most companies would record the same show for 2 weeks max. I think the 4 months rule worked well until season 12. Since they're not casting real people with real jobs, there's no point in doing that anymore.

I can't recall recent season that lasted for four months. Production gets what they need and then send the cast home.

They haven't filmed for 4 months for a while now. Maybe since Cancun. They get what they need and then boot the cast.

Always one step ahead of me! Lol
Real or fake?
- The roommates always have a blueprint of daily activities drawn up by producers. We never know which activities are actually their choices and which are producers one.
- We never know which activities are obliged by contract and which are their unique choices.
- The roommates always have dark secrets like Marlon's gay experience and Nia's date rape. We never know if they are actually told to expose those secrets on camera or if it's up to them to choose what to reveal and what to hide.
- The roommates always have storylines, but are those created ahead of time by producers or are those created later in the editing room?
- Are those storylines nurtured by producers like telling the roommates what subject to talk or is it up to them what to do?
Norm coming out as gay on RW1 was his choice to be publicly out there. Pedro on RW3 was already somewhat established, not only as being gay, but also as being an AIDS educator. Tami of RW2, and now on Bastketball Wives, chose to let them film her dealing within and outside of the house about her decision to have an abortion and the aftermath of it.
Then she met Sean Duffy on Road Rules All Stars, they got married, and now he is a member of the US Congress.
Becky from RW1 also dated a RW director during the girls trip to Jamaica and he got fired for it. They continued the relationship on the show and afterwards for a little while. I believe his name was Bill.

Nia's alleged date rape.(not saying it isn't true, but nobody was convicted or found guilty of anything-so, the "alleged" part is imperative in this case)
I know for a fact Real world is not Scripted or Fake, but Manipulated? Hell yeah. Its not possible to script 7 strangers for three months straight but you can manipulate them.

You can't script them for 3 months, but you can script the parts that you want to be on TV.

How do you know?
Are you aware that there are several kinds of "scripting" that happen in reality TV? Why do reality shows have credits for "writers?" If you are given a "shot sheet" that says, "Four of you will have lunch at Subway tomorrow. Be ready at 11 am," is that scripting? Is story boarding a form of scripting? Is privatization from a story board or broad outlines also "scripting?"
Why do I ask? When you make a blanket statement that "Real world is not Scripted or Fake," I wonder where the foundation lies for your credibility on the subject.

He obviously means scripting as in "tell this person this, and say this, then retaliate with this"
He obviously means scripting as in "tell this person this, and say this, then retaliate with this"
Obviously? Perhaps, but then we won't really know until he speaks, will we?
I don't think anyone here has ever so foolishly suggested there was fully scripted dialogue for this show, so I think its a legitimate question to ask just what was meant.

I'm pretty sure a good 90% of the people saying "RW IS FAKE/SCRIPTED" mean that. There are tons of post on here from ye olden days where people claim they have seen the cast reading scripts and re shooting "scenes"

They have reshot scenes for San Fran, according to people who were present.

did you watch St Thomas Season trust me its not scripted
They have reshot scenes for San Fran, according to people who were present.
Really? :/ I guess they've really given up hope on "reality"
They have reshot scenes for San Fran, according to people who were present.
Opening credits/press i hope. If not, a lot of talking will be begin. The Hills was known for that which anyone could tell anyway.

What I read was an account of something outside of a bar. That is not a place for opening credits. What I remember is something like "We need you to do that again."
Real or not. Frankly it doesn't matter.
Almost everything that's on Television is Fake and scripted and that's always been the case so for this show to be no exception to that is no big deal..I mean it's T.V after all.

Yikes.

It can be scripted without their knowledge like when Kris Humphries took part in Keeping up with the Kardashians, he didn't know exactly how he would be portrayed on the show. Then Bunim Murray’s Russell Jay testified Kim Kardashian faked scenes in the show to make herself look better, and Kris Humphries look worse.

So you telling me producer give each cast member a script to read for 3 months?
So you telling me producer give each cast member a script to read for 3 months?
Many cast members already told here they are not given scripts. That doesn't mean they don't create their own scripts on their own minds or they are not encouraged to do things they wouldn't normally do to fit exactly the producers script.
Kaia Beck from RW Hawaii season told in interviews: "We were encouraged to make storylines," she said. "The show is only one interpretation of the real world." "The Real World is real, if that is your interpretation of life." "If you live in a controlled environment, like a set, then yes. It depends on what your version of reality is."
