Thoughts:
Chet totally stole JDs condom, IMO. I thought the excuse that it was really his condom was so unbelievable. But then again I know MTV likes to splice things together so it looks like they happened around the same time.
Speaking of, did you notice that JD was wearing a gray shirt when talking to the cop on the phone, then a yellow sweatshirt when he went to the bar, then a white shirt with red sleeves when he came back drunk? He was later seen wearing a black sweatshirt when arguing with Chet but I'm pretty sure (judging by the conversation) that he threw it on after the red shirt. All the other scenes were spliced together though.
I thought Ryan overeacted to the kiss. We get it dude...you're straight! You're still a 10 in my book though.
Looks like Ryan and Baya flirt a little bit in the next episode. ahhhhh!!!
At least we finally get to see SCOTT though. Geeze!
Well Baya you are a very beautiful woman. Welcome to vevmo!!!
Agreed! Baya is the cutie of the season for me, and i've changed my mind, first was Devyn and i remember that V1 said when i saw her smile it would change and it totally did!
What happened in the fight tonight? I was reading an article online and totally missed it!! Can someone please break it down for me?
Well, from what i see. JD went to a bar got drunk, then he went to a store to get some chap stick i think, and the cashier didn't speak English very well, he said "She didn't understand me at all." and was basically in a way making fun of immigrants.

There are always major continuity issues with TRW. It is not something they stress about at BMP because they know that the lose almost no viewers because of it. I've learned over the years just to laugh at them.

Can't wait for that! Also it looks like Scott and Devyn are going to be flirting alot too!
well I really enjoyed the episode. I think Sarah is my favorite person so far. Last week I was irritated by Chet and Ryan. This week I was at first, but Chet had some nice moments. I thought that when Ryan and his girlfriend both had reacted disgusted by the queen kiss. we only saw Ryan laughing about it but they said he went to the bathroom and scrubbed his mouth with soap. That stuff bothers me, but it looks like he is the one to do the most growing this season. I feel sorry for JD but he needs help with his temper.

The table thing didn't happen (as I thought it might).
What did happen was JD went out and came home wasted. He starts complaining about being tired of people who can't speak English. He said he wanted some Chapstick at the drug store and the worker could not understand him. He goes off about immigrants, and Chet tells him that he's being rude and that it wasn't right what he was saying. I think Sarah, and a couple of the other roommates, were trying to get JD to go to bed, but Chet voiced his opinion on what JD said. So they seemed a little upset with him for talking to JD while he was drunk.
I like JD, but he seems really arrogant and self absorbed. He definitely rubbed me the wrong way this episode with his rant about the immigrants. Dude, your parents are immigrants so why would you belittle others in the same position? If anything, I thought that he would be a little more compassionate and understanding, but I guess not. Even though he was drunk, there was no excuse for his behavior this episode. With that said, I'm siding with Chet on this issue.
I think that if you judged Trisha for what she said about immigrants during Australia, the same judgment should be given to JD. But to be honest, his comment didn't bother me as much as the way that he implied that he was allowed to speak that way since his parents were immigrants. I just hate that excuse. Plus, we all came from immigrants. lol.
But he was drunk, so I won't judge him for it.
I love Chet. I love his questions....how sheltered he is...how much he wants to learn. I think his inappropriate questions and social skills are great entertainment. I definitely find him the most interesting so far. And by meeting his family I can definitely see how he might feel like he needs to stand out!

I also thought it would seem like JD would be more understanding of immigrants because his parents were immigrants. However, I think it is possible he could have been upset at his father at the time and the fact that his father is an immigrant could have set him off about immigrants in general. I really don't know if that's what caused it, but it's a guess.
However, I have to pay more attention to the clothes he and the roommates are wearing because based on what one of the posters said, this may not have happened in the same day/night or time frame around the situation with his dad.

If that's the case... I say Chet wins. JD was acting holier than thou on this episode. Do not judge thee lest thee be judged. I'm going to try not to judge too much this season. I think I'm going to really like everyone.
Right now Baya, Scott, and Ryan are my faves. JD and Sarah are rubbing me the wrong way. I rather like them all in one way or another though. So, I'm going to give it some more time.
I know, but we all got our goods and bads. But JD seems so full of himself and really making fun of immigrants, then he gets pissed off them making fun of Katelynn. Its different lifestyles he got to learn to live with it, people come here to build a life and he makes fun of them for that, so wrong. -3 JD.
This was a foundation episode that surprisingly was quite substantive. Obviously we are getting a wide panoramic of the cast as situations build to crescendo, with a slow zoom on those who will centerpiece the most dramatic moments in the near future.
This was a tough week for JD and although we saw a very positive side of Chet throughout, we also saw a side that brings questions.
Overall, I think there is an interesting vibe - although I will agree that Devyn and Scott are due.
Oh my, I surely hope not. I didn't hear it, so I don't know. I wasn't paying super close attention word for word, either. He seems like a decent guy who was wasted and letting his anger speak, but hopefully he did not say that. I didn't like what he said as it was. I did agree with Chet in that situation.
I do still find Chet to be the most interesting. At least based on what is shown. I do think his questioning is a little much at times, as I previously said in another thread, but hopefully as V1man said, he is learning his boundaries.
I'm gonna watch the replay again, I remember when he talks to scott, it's something like
Scott: Whats wrong?
JD: That *bleep* behind the counter couldn't under stand what I was saying, the lady was like (this is when JD does a mocking asian accent)
I thought he said ****h and it got bleeped out but im pretty sure you can say ****h now. So we'll see on the rerun.
Katelynn, I think you sold yourself short in your episode comments about not having much dance/rhythm ability. When you are new in a dance studio with a bunch of people who have done the program many times, its easy to feel a uncoordinated. It must have been fun, though, to be around someone with as much dance energy as Baya seems to have.
I'm sure there were great moments of your early revealing conversations with other houseguests that we didn't see. I'm curious about how you feel about the edit thus far, and if it matches your recollection. Both Sarah and Baya seemed genuinely moved by your honesty and your courage. One can only hope that Scott, Ryan and Chet have similar moments with you.
More comments:
- Chet and the eyeliner thing - I think perhaps him supposedly getting more girls while wearing it might have something to do with all these rock/punk guys in bands wearing it. Some girls are into that thing. Not me, but to each their own.
- Chet's family seems really nice. I'm glad they visited.
- I do feel really bad that JD's father stole his SSN. Bad enough when a stranger does it, but your parent? At least it was easier for him to track down, but still, what a betrayal.
- Though Ryan's display at the club after being kissed by the drag queen was quite dramatic, I thought he was being a trooper for the most part, especially since he wasn't expecting a kiss on the lips.
- Sarah is still awesome and I think she might be my favorite from what I've seen so far.
- I do think a good job is being done in showing different sides to some of the cast mates so far, which is good. I don't understand why producers said that the hour format allows for them to be able to follow an extra roommate, though. The season is only 13 episodes (if like Hollywood and the hour challenges), which if broken down into 30 minute episodes, would be 26 episodes, so it's really the same amount of time overall, just we are getting there quicker. I guess perhaps they feel they can show more roommates in an hour slot than in a 30 minute slot. But either way, someone is still not getting a lot of screen time. Right now it's Scott and Devyn. At least Baya got a spotlight tonight. I just think their reasoning is flawed concerning being able to have more time for another roommate. But I think each of these eight people contribute to the show and I would not want any of them to not be there, of course, since I've seen them already.

I just watched the episode again and I'm pretty sure he said ****h. I think that it's allowed to air when women say it to women, but not men saying it to women. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just my theory.

yeah he did say ****h, as for your theory i never thought of it like that, anyone know if that's true?
My opinions:
-I found the comment on immigrants kinda mean (which reminded me of the comment trisha made), but JD was wasted, so I can't really say anything much more.
-Baya can dance. I think she's a good dancer, and I think she, Sarah, and Kate will be my favorites this season.
-Chet i'm starting to like. I thought his family seemed like nice people.
-The alarm clock prank? Funny. The condom on the banana in the fish tank? Weird.

I agree, but therein lies the frustration for me. Jon Murray said we have 8 people because the hour format provides more opportunity to explore the cast in greater depth. Jon, I'm waiting for the "greater depth." I think JD deserved a more complete edit and Chet's reveal seemed equally disjointed. At least I didn't come away from the episode confused about Devyn and Scott. There wasn't enough of either one to allow for a bad edit.
I'm a little worried that I'm going to have the same frustration with the BMP story editor that I had during the Hollywood season. What is wrong with showing us the context of discussions, especially the heated ones? Let us make our own decisions without all the "guidance" from the editors in Van Nuys.
Once again awesome episode. I actually like that they decided to focus on Baya. I hope eventually Scott and Devyn get the same amount of time. I also hope in the next 11 episodes there will be a little bit more drama (main reason why I watch RW & Challenges). Still I have to say another awesome episode, and Chet family reminds me of my family, and also Chet defending the immigrants, wow did not expect that from him. JD is still cool in my book, it just hurt me a little when he said what he said, because my parents are immigrants, and can't speak English (they have been living in this country for the past 25 years), and I feel like others will look down on them just like what JD did (even if he was drunk, he didn't apologize about that comment). Hopefully JD was truly just joking.

I agree with everything you said. I felt that we really didn't receive a critical exploration of Chet or JD either. In general, the only storyline in this episode that seemed kind of organized was Baya's quest for dance. The other storylines were interesting, but they were kind of just kind of thrown together without a proper context. Hopefully the next episode is a little more complete.
I think the problem is that they're trying to piece together too many stories in a single episode. I believe that if the season had 14-16 hour long episodes, the cast members would receive a complete edit. Anyway, does BMP have a say in how many episodes they want to produce or is it entirely up to MTV? On a side note, is it possible for MTV to order additional episodes (storylines that were left on the cutting room floor) for this season if the show continues to perform well in the ratings?

I agree. I really was baffled that the producers think they have more time to show more of a story for each cast member, so they added an eighth person. If they still had 26 episodes or so that were an hour, possibly. But not with 13 episodes.
I would at least like to see them use the RW Dailies site to flesh out the storylines more. You do get to see extra, and hopefully during the really big moments for the show, they used the dailies to show more of a complete explanation of things.

That was so planned. It's the latest dance craze sweeping the nation. "The swat". That dance is the ish! Only true gangsters can do it. lol.
PS, Yeah.... so many levels of ************* on JD's behalf. I dare him to order food out in Miami now. I hope "some immigrant" who saw tonights episode "accidentally" drops his food on the floor. Worst excuse ever. There's always that "list" of things you can and can't say - I think everyone has them in their own culture whether it's PC or not and that just really crossed the line. I also loooooove how he never apologizes for it but has this big chip on his shoulder whilst "forgiving Chet".

I can't read a single one of your comments without carefully considering the hidden meaning in each phrase. You are as revealing as my insiders at 1515 Broadway. ;)
After two episodes, I do find myself curious about the other cast's reaction )(and the BMP crew) to JD seeming to know a number of high-end places and people in Manhattan.
I liked how chet handled jd. it's sad that jd is an immigrant himself, and hates on other immigrants. if he wants rights for gays, then why is he denying rights for immigrants? he tried to insult chet by telling him to read the bible. how can he expect people to take gay rights seriously, if he cant take chet's religious rights seriously.

I'd give JD's words credibility as insight into his character, but for the alcohol (the backgroud of which BMP leaves out completely). I need to hear similar insensitive things from him when sober before condemning the guy. You have to remember he got the "good guy" edit last week, just as Ryan got the "bad guy" edit last week. This week Ryan is rehabilitated to "quirky," while JD is shown to be not always the same caring person we were introduced to last week with his support for Katelynn.
