If that is true then that is just sad and disrespectful to Pedro's memory. I've been a viewer from the beginning and Pedro will always be one of my favorite RW cast members. Ugh I'm sick thanks V1!
"She didn't even say sorry! She didn't even say sorry!"
Scott sounded like he was about to cry...
Side note: The short duel trailer looks pretty neat-o!

Careful bub - what you said was very disrespectful.
I enjoy having her here as well and agree with her 90% of the time. This was just a disagreement - but your snide remark is unnecessary. If you feel the need to discuss this then PM me.
Wow you make such bold claims as if you were a member of the house... is this Chet pretending to be someone else? You see the REAL reason some people opposed having this event at the Center was because our goal was to reach an audience that may not have had the opportunity to ask questions or speak on the topic of HIV/AIDS. We are all aware the Center does a great job of education people of all backgrounds on this important social issue. We wanted to try something different and reach those that the center hadn't already reached.
Girl please if I were in the house you and I would have gotten into it constantly lol. We both have strong Type A personalities.
I've been watching this show since the beginning and even though editing has a big part in it, most cast members personalities come through eventually. Don't get me wrong, I think Sarah is a sweet heart, but it seems like she has so much animosity towards JD, some of which is probably deserved. She basically wrote him off, so right there is evidence to support my theory.
By the way Devyn...much love to you!
Anyway...watching the show just makes me sort of sad. Probably because I like quite a few of the cast members...and then the show makes everybody look all petty. Then I come here and read about the backstage and think...these people where basically cheated...and I bet they didn't even know how gross BMP would be before they got on the show. A little gross? Sure. This gross? A bit not.
Anyway, The last time I watched TRW it was Vegas...and I didn't watch much of it...everyone grossed me out. I didn't like them at all. Then I watched some of Paris...and there were way too many ignorant people being irritating. But I quite like these people and I just wish we could get a more real "real world." I'd watch a show with people in it without all the weird editing and manufactured drama...I really would.

We wouldn't have gotten into arguments constantly. I would've just walked away ;-) (see me and JD in ep 8) lol .
Sarah is one of the most understanding people I know. Especially when it comes to talking about issues and troubled pasts.. she gave JD countless opportunities to share his story and open up but he'd rather use his time to attack someone. A friend of mine visited us while we were filming. He called me the other ranting about the edit and how they show the girls vs. how they really are. He especially commented on them making Sarah seem like a snob that never listens. He was in the house during the argument about the chores with Kate and JD and during the argument in the bedroom with JD and Sarah. He hated how the edit just showed Sarah saying "I don't care" to JD... when in actuality Sarah listened to JD go in circles for 20 minutes not owning up to his actions.. at that point we all were waiting for her to just stop wasting her time and walk away.
So despite how much "evidence" you have seen to support your theory..the truth is anything can be used to justify anything AND the 12% of filming that you have seen will never add up to 100% of what happened. You only know what BMP wants you to know. Right V1Man? ;-)

I can accept that. But still, I do not believe he is the monster that everyone makes him out to be.
Anyways thanks for sharing.
I think the editing has done a way better job at making the girls look better than the boys. There isn't one likeable male in this cast in my opinion..Scott was definately being an *** and its seems like he has a case of male PMS where he just cops attitudes and throws tantrums for stupid reasons..He had all this family and friends coming to visit yet, he still got upset over one person not being there, someone who needed the money..Is there ever a time where Ryan doesnt feel like pranking someone? all you see of him is pranks and him talking about 911.Devyn should be a lawyer because she knows how to loud talk while making valid points, I loved how she stormed out of the phone room to yell lol. JD is a waste of screentime, he has the attitude of someone who wants everything his way or the highway and I HATE that. Baya is supercute but definately a pushover I saw her putting away the dishes after scott *****ed about it. Sarah seems like a cool girl I liked when she said "hug it out" she seems to be one of the only ones with a heart. I really like Katelynn shes definately entertaining,I feel bad for her though having to live with those annoying and immature boys.
Hi Devyn!
Even with the little bit they showed, I could tell JD was a snake. I was very upset that Sarah was made to seem like the rude person who didn't care. Because i feel Sarah is so much nicer than potrayed. I like the guys except except JD. However, even the guys i like sometimes get under my skin especially Ryan. It made me angry that Ryan said he was glad they showed sarah in her true light. Which i had a felt was untrue.

Ding ding ding we have a winner, how they showed Sarah was totally wrong. Sarah's an incredibly sweet person.
Another below average episode, I thought the season was going to pick up after that girls vs boys episode.
On another note, the preview to the new challenge looks great.

We are watching entertainment TV and not a documentary on PBS. BMP edits the way they do because they can. Because the audience allows it and the media critics long ago gave up caring. In public, BMP will opine a general argument that they are honest in their editing, but they have never once defended themselves against specific editing criticism leveled at them by a cast member. If video from week one can be used to support a story line that took place only in week 12 of taping, no problem. They cast did or said it, so it's fair game for use anytime anywhere. Further, the cast contract says BMP can do anything with the cast members portrayal. It's in the contract that the edit need not be honest in any respect. Even "frankenbiting" is on the table as the following articles from Time and Newsday report.
How Reality TV Fakes It - TIME

Almost no one wants to risk investing in the unknown, the the certainty of outcome and probability of audience reaction are largely defined by "writers" and story editors. The Joe Schmo Show, season 2, was probably the last reality show to be pure, but that is only because the show turned into a near documentary when one "contestant" figured out the show was fake. Go figure...

When I discuss the making of reality TV in some public lecture or academic setting, and someone says to me, "You can't change what he/she said on camera. The editing excuse is just pathetic." I usually reply, "Last week someone cut me off in traffic and I called him an idiot. Let me just insert some previously recorded dialogue from that day because it fits, 'You're an idiot.'"

This was the sense that I got too, I kept wondering the whole time whether their marketing only consisted of handing out fliers at the last minute as implied on the episode. It seemed to be more about since they don't all work together like in previous seasons, they needed a project that they all could work on for storyline purposes.
In any event this was the FIRST episode where I could actually see where everyone was coming from to a certain degree, including JD (kind of just threw up in my mouth a little bit). I can understand why Chet would want to do the hosting duties but, though it wasn't expressly articulated in the debate that ensued, I think not so much his virginity but rather his religious views regarding abstinence make it a bit hypocritical and disingenuous for him to have assumed hosting duties, it wasn't about "selling it" as he said but rather speaking on a cause you believe in. It would be like seeing a sex education public service ad with Sarah and Bristol Palin.
I also could see both sides of where to hold the movie showing, I understood the preaching to the choir element but I imagined that the support would've possibly been better at the LGBT community center and they may have had a better turn out. Though I found it laughable that JD compared himself to Pedro in any way beyond superficial, I don't know Pedro but based on what we saw of him I can't imagine he'd be down for JD's activities on the show. Nevertheless I did think he was probably one of the best choices for hosting duties and you could tell it meant a lot to him and I think it made it more personal than had Chet been doing it, I felt like he would've been cracking awkward, inappropriate jokes or something.
Baya disappeared again WTF, she's like yoda- just pops up to give wise advise and then disappears into the shadows.
Scott, I could understand him as well, I just wish he hadn't clouded the issues. It seemed (at least based on editing) that going off on Katelynn about the cleaning was just an excuse to channel his anger about her not coming to his birthday party. The cleaning wars were just ridiculous, but Devyn popping out of the phone booth to rip him a new one was pretty priceless. It would've been nice if he had just been up front about the fact that it hurt his feelings that she didn't come and didn't apologize for not coming, which I didn't think was completely invalid.
BUT as someone who spent a good portion of college selling her blood and plasma and survived grad school on a diet of ramen noodles, coffee and bw3 50 cent wings and free alcohol, I know what it's like to be broke as a joke. Scott kept talking about it's only $75 dollars, but even $20 makes a big difference when you're trying to make ends meet. And the way KAtelynn was talking, I figured MTV contractual obligations was a large part of the reason why she was limited in the type of job she could pursue. It was nice of him to offer Katelynn the $1500 in the end, I say that wearily because sometimes when you're in a position where you have to take a lot from a friend it quickly becomes a control issue, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
And I can not believe ya'll bought the together back like that, I haven't thought about that movie in while. It was terrible, come to think of it every MTV movie I've seen has been terrible! But "I know my calculus" is an instant classic faux boyband song.

I agree, I'm kinda sad about that.
V1Man,
What was the ultimate outcome of the Reality Writer's push to be allowed to join the WGA?
Nothing came of it. Few of the present WGA membership wanted to do anything for the reality community because it would be undercutting their own job base, among other things.

It is kinda creepy how you keep saying everything I was thinking! Stop reading my mind!! ;)
I also could see the good and bad in everyone's arguments this episode. I just wish that the pranks and the petty fights about dishes would stop soon. Instead maybe we could have 5 minutes of Baya time? Pretty please?!
I gotta admit though, I still have a few 2ge+her songs on my iPod! Sometimes I just need a little "Say It Don't Spray It" in my life, haha
Wow, are you seeing a different cut than the ones I'm sent? Did my account somehow get hijacked and someone posted as me claiming to be infallible?
Hmmmm now I undertand why you called yourself a narcisist.
I didn't say that you weren't infallible. I was talking about a lack of accountability for one's actions. For example, your careless attitude about cleaning up after yourself or walking around half naked. Or JD's perceived displeasure with none of the girls liking him. Or Ryan getting pissed when a prank is played on him. Or Chet saying awful things to you.
Or Scott locking up the dishes. There are several more examples, but you get the point.
Compared to last seasons, I have yet to see two cast members sit down together and talk things out, admit to their own wrongdoings and apologize. That's what I was saying. People are going to have opinions on the cast/episodes, and I'm certainly not going to leave you out of my critique because you post here. That's just silly. NOT that you are asking me to do that, but I've noticed you like to give the Cartman smack down when anyone says anything about you that can be perceived in a negative way.

Well, they may have sat down and apologized to each other a lot for all we know. As a matter of fact, didn't Katelynn say that all the cast members except JD have apologized to all the other cast members? Anyway, I'm just saying that people may be apologizing and admitting fault all over the place...but BMP decides that doesn't make a good story and doesn't show it.
What we see is so fake on one level, it is really hard for me to make judgements about a negative.
What I mean is. I feel more comfortable talking about what I see happen. Katelynn has walked around in short shorts (with underwear underneath)--how often? I don't know. Did she stop after a week? I don't know. Scott has locked up the dishes. How long, one hour? four days? I don't know. But I don't feel comfortable at all talking about what *didn't* happen...since it might have happened off camera. Katelynn didn't apologize for missing Scott's B-day party? Well, she might have, but that wasn't shown because it wasn't dramatic. Ryan apologized for the rat thing and felt really bad about it? Could have happened...but not part of the story.
We know that Devyn is working hard at a job and singing in a band and generally being quite productive...but all we see is her lounging around "being lazy." Which isn't accurate. So there could be apologies and sitting down and talking quite a bit. They film 24/7 and out of one weeks worth of filming (168hrs) we get 50minutes. Who knows what else is not being shown?
ETA: Oh V1...too bad about the reality writer's not winning that fight. :(

Agreed, but I'm AFTRA.
BW, in an hour show, it is only 40 minutes after the commercials and fluff.

I once had the choice of joining AFTRA...but I didn't have the cash at the time...I sort of feel sad about that now! Ah well! I'm moving to Massachusetts anyway.
As for 40minutes. I'm pretty sure Sober house is only 30 minutes if you cut out all of the bumper fluff! And I'm only half-joking when I say that.

Exactly. Which is what I was doing. I'm not so naive to think that things don't happen behind the scenes, and yes, I do pay attention to what V1 says about editing.
So........my statement still stands then. That I was commenting on what I saw ON camera. Which was neither Scott nor Katelyn apologizing for their actions, but instead agreeing to let it go when it benefitted them (Scott getting the balls back, Katelyn getting the dishes back). Believe me when I say I'm just glad it ended. :)
I find it interesting to see a discussion of dishes, apologies and chairs. Where have all the hot tub's gone (other than seeing Ryan and Scott hiding behind one when Katelynn and Baya returned home.)

Another thing I noticed last night was the fact that they are hardly ever drinking and hooking up. It's rather refreshing.
I found this interview with Ryan and Sarah that I found interesting. It's from February so some episodes had not aired yet (I think it's before JD even busted the table). I have no idea if someone else already posted this link, but in case somebody did not, I'll do it.

May I just say how pumped I am that Sarah's 100% willing to do a challenge if she's ever asked!?!? WOO!!!
