Excuse me while I go back on topic here-
Did Season 25 begin casting while New Orleans was filming? For some reason I feel like Season 26 casting is too soon. I wonder if they'll throw out suggestions again on what kind of roommates they're looking for this season.
I believe casting for Season 25 began within the last couple weeks of April 2010; filming for Season 24 ended within the first couple weeks of May 2010.
I don't think there's an official "start date" to when Season 26 casting begins - I think it's being done as "rolling casting."
Well, there's a difference when it's "rolling casting" on the BMP website and when it specifically says "Real World 26 casting". I think its best to send a tape when they are actually and specifically casting for "Real World 26" because well.. they're actually looking.
[strike]i still think waiting for open calls are your best bet, unless you make GREAT compelling videos. That being said, I think this thread is a little premature.[/strike]

Actually videos are the better way to go about it. With a video it's just you talking about and doing whatever you want for five minutes. You have all of the attention. In an open casting call you're in a room with about 9 other people and answer a few random questions they ask. Sure you can still get a majority of the attention if you try super hard, but it's still not the same. Plus you only talk about what they ask you instead of what you want to talk about. The video way is a much better way.
I though I read somewhere on one of these forums that casting should start late September-early October. It's probally just speculation but it's all I've heard.

Both options have its pros. Just like what you said is all pros for the video route.
But for an open casting call, this gives the casting director to see you in person. Even if you messed up your answers during the group questions, they can sometimes just tell if you have "it". Maybe the way you carry yourself, or the way you just are naturally. That could be enough to carry you on to the on camera interview and get to know you more in depth.
If they like you enough they'll ask you to make a video anyway. If you get looked over at the open casting call , chances are you're not going to carry 1/8 of an entire season. I'm not trying to be rude or kill dreams because I'm one of those people they didn't pick too, just a reality. It takes a lot to make it to the end, if you have that it factor to actually make it on the show they won't miss it whether your making a tape or in a group of 15.

What you wrote is probably one of the most "real" statements I've seen posted on this board.
If you honestly don't see yourself getting on the show then I wouldn't waste your time. The casting process is very long and demanding. You have to evaluate yourself and really think about if people would want to watch you on television.
I don't think there is anything wrong with trying out for the fun of it, but I think you should really take into consideration that they're going to choose people with interesting story lines and not people who just want to be on the show because they love watching it.
I'm not going to start a fight on the message board, but I will say that I have met one person on this board before without them even knowing at one of the casting calls. That person is not someone that they're going to give a chance (sorry) and I think they should move on with their life instead of asking question after question after question.
phew it's been a long time since I've been on here!
VERY excited for RW 25!!!
On another note, I think that casting will start in October and I HOPE that they do a complete 180 and cast 4 really compelling ppl, like unique stories that we haven't seen; Followed by 4 really hot headed ppl that are rowdy and over the top.
I don't plan on trying out again because the process was sooo long last time, however i DO think that ppl should send in their tapes now. I sent mine in months before they actually said "now casting" and they still called me during the middle of the next casting cycle.
Good luck all!
I think I'm going to audition for Real World 26. I've thought about it since RW: Brooklyn, but didn't want to take time off from school to film it.
Now that I've graduated (and jobless :)), I think it could be a good time to do it.
Since I've been thinking about doing this for so long, I think I have a pretty good video planned out in my head and I know the kinds of things I will say to try and get BMP interested in me.
I think it'd be really fun to do.
Casting is featured on the front page of the Real World website on mtv.com. It's only a matter of time before the BMP website changes their site to "Real World 26" casting and announces casting call locations
According to mtv.com casting call it says you can apply now, so i would say probally this week
Haha, ok. Way to answer your own question then!
I don't care if it's party or serious, I just hope the cast is great so the contract can be renewed. If not, this is the last season of The Real World. :(
That has nothing to do with it. Vegas is 25 and they started filming about a week ago.
It's not a simple and fixed-scheduled process from season to season. Keep in mind this is television and they can officially begin casting for the 26th season when they are ready to.
Clearly they are not ready yet... but they accept tapes on an ongoing basis.

Ongoing Basis?
This last season was pretty good. Enjoyed it alot. But I always wonder why they choose certain people. For example. Sahar. What made her stick out , out of the thousands??

I ask myself that every season. I think you need to be a little fruitcakey to get cast.
of course this is pure opinion only:
Do you think since this is the last season on their current contact and along with the delay of casting calls, that they're taking this process seriously in forming the best 'typecast" group of people and location?
