Nightmare on Elm Steet: New Freddy
It looks like Billy Bob Thorton just might be the new Freddy Kreugar...
Angelina Jolie's Ex is the New Freddy Kruger Hmmm…..inneresting casting! According to reports, Billy Bob Thornton has been cast as Freddy Krueger for the Nightmare On Elm Street remake. The original Freddy, Robert Englund, says he thinks Billy Bob is an "excellent choice" and, "A big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies." What do y'all think? He freaks us out as a normal person — we think he's perfect for the role! [Image via WENN.] Thoughts??
Well he is pretty scary.....
Okay so just like the Friday the 13th remake I am a little wary about it and one of the concerns is that Robert is not going to be Freddy. He made that character and he played it so well for so many years, it'll be weird seeing someone else filling that role. Nothing against Billy Bob Thorton but I am just wary.

He is scary though lol So maybe he'll win me over.
I'm looking foward to seeing how he plays this role, it's gonna be freaky lol. It should be interesting to watch.
<---------------not. Happy. oh shit hahaha i forgot my avatar is ABOVE my text. Instead of editing...i'll leave this stint of stupidity for all to see. I DONT WANT A NIGHTMARE REMAKEEEEE
Hmmmm.. interesting. My sources over at BD said it was only a rumor and that he hadn't officially been cast yet. Coming from one hugee horror movie buff, this will be terrible. I am sorry, but I don't think Billy Bob is a good actor. He doesn't have a scary appeal to him at all. All his roles in movies are the same practically. Terrible casting choice. Pick someone who can play a crazy person. I am sceptical about this remake. I was with Halloween too, but that turned out fine. This Friday the 13th remake looks to be amazing, but this is turning out to be terrible. I am so mad. I am not saying all I want is Robert Englund because I can't ask for that, I am asking that they cast someone who know how to play a crazy person. Hell, Jack Nicholson. It isn't like Freddy was young when he was torched. What has Billy done that would justify him as a great actor? The closest thing he has ever done to be note-worthy was Monster's Ball and Halle Berry stole that movie from him.
You mean Bad Santa didn't prove his acting abilities to you?? :girl_haha::laugh2::lol2::rofl:
You are too funny. And no it didn't. I am really upset that they would cast such a terrible actor, in my opinion. I hope this soon changes so that I can at least be somewhat willing to watch this.
You mean Bad Santa didn't prove his acting abilities to you?? :girl_haha::laugh2::lol2::rofl:
Well actually Bad Santa was pretty funny! lol. You all do have a point he might not be the best actor, or maybe he just hasn't been given the opportunity to cast an outstandingly great role. Who knows. But you never know what he's capable of. Heath Legder was a perfect example. No one ever would've thought of him playing the Joker character, let alone act it out so greatly like he did. So it's always interesting to see a movie star explore new roles.

It was a great movie and instead of taking his chance to shine, Halle Berry outshined him. I am just so upset because they pick someone who never ventured outside of his comfort zone. Billy has always played the jerk and has never changed.
"I hated this week, I really did. After spending hours wasting my time writing stories on the BS that was GHOSTBUSTERS and the fun of putting out the TRICK 'R TREAT flames Warner accidentally ignited, Robert Englund got fans all stirred up over his claim that Billy Bob Thornton would slip on Freddy Krueger's glove for New Line Cinema's remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. The story, which we all laughed at the second we read it, spread through Internet Land like a dragon burning through a village. Even big sites and news publications reported it as FACT. It was fun watching reputable companies make a complete **** of themselves - but where, oh where, did the rumor stem from? You're going to LOVE this..." During an interview with IFMagazine, Englund tells them exactly where he heard these "facts": "'I heard this rumor from a journalist at a press conference during Comic-Con. I think Billy Bob is a terrific actor. I've been a fan since Evening Shade.'" It's amazing how this *** spreads. Source: IFMagazine Source: BloodyDisgusting Grrrr. I really hope Billy Bob pulls out or it is one huge misunderstanding or something. He can not play the role of Freddy Krueger. He just can't.

So if he is always the jerk he should be perfect for this movie:)
I hated Bad santa , ugh. So if he is always the jerk he should be perfect for this movie:)
Just because he is a jerk, doesn't mean he necessairly will be good for the role. I mean all of his roles are repetitive and boring. He isn't the greatest actor either, or he just hasn't proven to me that he is a good actor. Freddy Krueger is a jerk, but he is a psychopath and a creep. Billy has never done anything like that. H has always played the bully. And that is why I don't want them to pick him. i want them to pick someone with a bit more experience in playing a deranged person.
Jack Earle Haley is the new Freddy Kreuger: BD Horror News - And Your New Freddy Krueger Is...
Jack Earle Haley is the new Freddy Kreuger:
Oh how cool! I LOVED him in Watchmen, and honestly, I hadn't heard of him until then. He was perfect for Rorschach and I think he'll be perfect for Freddy too! Nice.

The roles of Jason and Michael were revolving doors, but really....Englund WAS Freddy Krueger. I hope he at least makes a ridiculous cameo of some sort. I own the box set and its way worth owning. Got it on Amazon for cheap - like 26 bucks?
I just can't see Freddie being anyone else but Englund. What is up with Hollywood's campaign to recycle and subsequently ruin all the good movies from the past. This is why I mostly watch Asian films.

Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite horror film!! Honestly, I've seen every one. Wes Craven is a genius! I'd be interested to see a new film..... but I'm slightly worried. It would be hard to imagine anyone as Freddy other than Englund.
It is weird to think Englund won't be putting on the makeup and haunt our dreams but I give everyone a chance. So I will see how it goes...I don't think anyone will be as good as Englund who MADE this role but I think it can be pulled it off.
Kyle Gallner has been cast to play the male lead, Quentin. He's from Veronica Mars, and more recently, The Haunting in Connecticut. He's also going to be in the movie Jennifer's Body, written by Diablo Cody.
Thomas Dekker from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is reported to be in the movie as well! Also, Bloody-Disgusting reports that some girl called Rooney Mara (urban legends: bloody mary) is in final negotiations to play Nancy Thompson! BD Horror News - Your New Nancy Thompson Moves to 'Elm Street'
this movie is going to hell.
this movie is going to hell.
I liked Terminator, but Dekkar? Meh.
I just read that Kellan Lutz is in talks as well...If he is in it, he better be shirtless the whole time so I can drool :)
That'd be awesome but what we need is diversity. Not the exact same rehash over again.
Coming soon: From New Line Cinemas: Another Failed Remake like Friday the 13th!!!!!!!
F13 did not fail it just had stupid parts.
Steve, coming from a huge horror movie fan, I think this will be different and better than the F13 remake.
Good god, I hope so. I don't think I could stand New Line destroying something that IT Built.
