This is what happens when disgruntled Canucks fans try to jump over a flaming car.
So Luongo is surely going to be released or traded by the Canucks right?
Who would want to pick up one of the biggest contracts in hockey via trade? If they release him they still have to pay 11 seasons of a 12-year, $64 million contract.
They are cooked and I doubt they can shame him out of the money (as the guy has no shame.)
There doesn't seem to be a good way out.
p.s. Why would anyone sign a goalie to a 12 year contract (or any player for that matter.)
p.s. Why would anyone sign a goalie to a 12 year contract (or any player for that matter.)
That's the real question. What were they thinking signing anyone to a contract that long? Especially someone who isn't a fetus when the contract was signed.

I was not aware that he signed such a lucrative contract. I really don't follow the NHL that closely until the playoffs, but aside from Luongo winning gold for Canada, has he really done anything to deserve such a contract?

Already removed. :(
Hardly shocking and disgusting...
It was basically a guy (Guy A) trying to start a car on fire with a huge crowd watching. Another guy (this guy, Guy B) was trying to get him to stop. Guy B tried to throw a huge haymaker that Guy A avoided...and then as he was walking away, Guy A's face came into direct contact with Guy C's fist and was knocked out cold.
EDIT: Actually, the third picture in that group of photos is from the video of Guy A (on the right in the newsboy cap) getting knocked out.
EDIT 2: Here is Guy C and Guy A.
Sadly it was staged. Why can't those rioters do anything right?!

Same here.
I found a great website which has the pulse of the events: publicshamingeternus

I think public shaming is good right about now...

It looks like the cops are catching a lot of people based on social networking...they have a Facebook site set up that lets people post pictures and a lot of the comments have named names (and phone numbers, and addresses, which is probably taking it a bit far)
I love watching the Rolling Rallies! Sadly, I've never been to one because all the recent championships have been won when I am away from home. One day I will go to a rally!
I don't mind the idea of realignment (again.) However, I don't think this is the alignment they should be striving for...

A few familiar names, unfortunately.

It is tough to get excited after your team wins the Cup. You have the goal, so does another matter?
This streak by the Bruins right now has my attention.

I don't see how rooting for a repeat is any less exciting that rooting for the first win! The Red Wings were the last team to do it back in 97 & 98, I think we are due for another repeat team.
Plus we have to keep Boston at the top as the number 1 sports city!
Their streak is pretty awesome but I am trying not to jinx it by talking about it too much.

I watched the Bruins/Pens tonight and while it might not be the same win streak it is still the same points streak at 14-0-1. The Bruins right now are melting the ice they are so on fire. They look better than last year.
What do you guys think of the new division realignments they're thinking about?
I think it is an abomination. For Bruins fans, it means less games against traditional rivals (i.e. Leafs, Canadians) and more time playing teams no one cares about (e.g. Tampa Bay.) It also means instead of a rather concentrated Northeast division, the Bruins will be spending more time flying to Florida for division play (which makes no sense at all being the current Atlantic Division should have sucked up the Florida teams from a geographical sense, and the NY teams should have gone to the Northeast.)

Even worse, they will be spending more time flying to the West coast playing games no one is going to stay up to watch (with the new home and home rule.)
So, as a Bruins fan who enjoys things as they are now - I see it as a lose, lose situation. Less interesting teams more often, with many more late games that I won't be staying up to watch.
However, from a strategic viewpoint - this will make it easier for the Bruins to succeed now that they are being separated from the Atlantic Division teams with the end of conference standings.

I think it's pretty awful as well. I hate the 10pm start times when they make the West coast trips...and now we get even more. Hooray.
But the division we're in is pretty weak with the exception of Chicago...so it looks good for the Wings too.
But Winnipeg and Dallas...gah.
Of course my cable provider stopped carrying NHL Net this fall. I would love to see the Flyers get whooped!
Who in their right mind would fight a 6' 9" Slovak defenseman? The Bruins are killing it right now.
Best they have looked all season.
