The MTV Series "Road Rules" to Return?
some people have said they are going to do another and others have said they are not. anyone have an knowledge? usually when they cast for real world they automatically consider you for road rules, but there is no mention of that on the site. any clue? i always liked the show.

That gives me the impression they are no longer looking specifically for Road Rulers, or as we like to call them, "[B]Real World Rejects.[/B]" Not to mention [B]Road Rules Revenge on the Viewers[/B] sucked so badly they actually pulled the plug and cut two episodes! They knew that without Real World Denver as a lead in, an infomercial would pull better ratings then that sinking ship. Actually right during filming/production MTV fired a bunch of people involved with the project (although I suspect that was due to larger sweeping cuts by Viacom.) I have a feeling we will not be seeing it again anytime soon, but I'll hold out for a more informed opinion. [CENTER][IMG]http://vevmo.com/images/rr.jpg[/IMG] [/CENTER]
[QUOTE=Bacchus;6824]I have a feeling we will not be seeing it again anytime soon, but I'll hold out for a more informed opinion.[/QUOTE] bummer. i actually like that show and it certainly produced some great people for the challenges. the whole viewer's revenge thing was terrible and people should be fired for that idea, but why not go back to how it was? it obviously won't be as successful as the real world, but a nice supplement. "real world rejects." i like that.

To be honest, The Real World and the Challenges are the only shows I watch on that network. I'd tune into a gimmick laden Road Rules well before you would ever catch me turning the channel to view the teenie bopper trash that makes up the rest of their current lineup.
i agree. for some reason i have a feeling they will bring it back.
we can only hope! i'd vote for that over real world any day.

Anything Road Rules Realted Would Be Good Hell Id Watch Viewers Revenge Again Instead Of That ****** New Show Thats Amore
[quote=da2337;6834]i agree. for some reason i have a feeling they will bring it back.[/quote] Make an apointment with your alternative medicine mechanic as soon as possible. Your "feeling" barameter is out of whack. ;) Road Rules "Viewer's Revenge" was a one show contract to BMP from MTV. BMP is diversfying its production interests (aka Bad Girls Club at Oxygen and some other new projects) while also having recently reduced its staff. Road Rules is not likely to return, since its ratings were in the toilet and on-line fan reaction was even worse. As bad as some other MTV programming is, they are almost all low/no budget and are, thus, profitable for the network with minimal viewers. When last I checked, there was a consensus that the challenge would be renewed, but the originally planned taping in January was deferred until summer. But, there has been no contract renewal that I'm aware of. Its cancellation would not surprise me if the ratings at some point don't reach 2M in the prime 18-34 demographic. VH-1 has quietly been taping a challenge in Mexico this month, produced by Mark Cronin at 51 Minds (Surreal Life & Rock of Love). MTV and BMP must be regretting their past decision to rely so heavily on the Fresh Meat meatheads who think they are entertaining but don't deliver. (jmho)
well i guess my feeling was wrong, lol.

[quote=da2337;6870]well i guess my feeling was wrong, lol.[/quote] Tag it and bag it.
V1man, jsut curious, but does that challenge show in Mexico have anything to do with BMP? did they cast it?
[QUOTE=da2337;6881]V1man, jsut curious, but does that challenge show in Mexico have anything to do with BMP? did they cast it?[/QUOTE] Let's look at what I wrote earlier-- [QUOTE]VH-1 has quietly been taping a challenge in Mexico this month, [B]produced by Mark Cronin at 51 Minds (Surreal Life & Rock of Love). [/B]MTV and BMP must be regretting their past decision to rely so heavily on the Fresh Meat meatheads who think they are entertaining but don't deliver.[/QUOTE] 51 Minds is a production company just like Bunim/Murray Productions. 51 Minds is to VH-1 as Mark Burnett's production company is to CBS. Bunim Murray didn't cast it. The way casting usually works is that 51 Minds will propose a cast t0 VH-1 and VH-1 will bless the list or make changes. You can check out the company at [url=http://www.51minds.com/Site/Welcome.html]51minds.com[/url]
Thanks V1

Call me old-school (watching RW since I was 11) or whatever but I don't dig the Fresh Meater's because I don't "know them". It's not the same connection as what you have w/ the actual Cast Members. That's also why I never got into "Viewer's Revenge". And P.S...regarding Vh1...my friends and I used to joke that we knew we were "getting older" when we preferred Vh1 over MtV ;) *sigh*

[quote=RockSteadyVybes;6900]The Fresh Meat kids blow....you're right about not "knowing them", buuuuuut they also just suck in general haha[/quote] They are also annoying because they act so ***king entitled. I mean is doing a few challenges over a few weeks time total really the same as being filmed 24/7 for 4 months? I think not.

I hope RR does return someday.
I feel like a moron could revive the show and score sick ratings. VR was a ***king train wreck. What were they THINKING? seriously lol i do hope it returns though, but with old school rules
it really is a great show. like you said just go back to the way it was. v1man said it really has no shot which is a bummer.
It totally has a shot, if it returns to traditional road rules. If 'the amazing race (CBS)' can prevail, so can RR. It's MUCH better, and far more easy to watch and get sucked in to.

The support is simply not there. They are emotionally invested in their little Fresh Meat streat urchins.

They have a certain attachment to Kenny, Evan, Diem and Evelyn. There is some demographic suppot to their view, though I think they ultimately are wrong in the way they have permitted BMP to cast several past challenges and the way the challenges have been run. I'd be most impressed if they hired Matt Kunitz to EP any future challenge. Matt was the EP and creative genius behind Fear Factor, and long ago worked at BMP. Overall, I don't think the relationship between BMP and MTV is rock-solid. I see more than a few cracks in the mortar.
thanks for the input v1man. i think it is certain that something needs to be done. some new ideas and spice needs to be brought back.

'Cuz most MTV viewers are morons and/or 12 years old. NOW i see the distinction...
I was just sitting here thinking, and I figured you guys could answer this question. Are they going to have another Road Rules? Or was the ratings bad again?
[quote=Pheonix12;12590]I was just sitting here thinking, and I figured you guys could answer this question. Are they going to have another Road Rules?
