How was episode 3?
I've come to the decision that I am just going to allow all these to build up on my DVR as we await whether this series will make it past episode 5.
I think I read fox agreed to air all 13 episodes.
I've always loved Eliza D....I was a big fan of Tru Calling. She's a great actress and beautiful to boot.
I love you OPD... but "great" might be a stretch.
She's a pretty girl though. That makes her a little easier to swallow.
I watched the first two episodes on Hulu.com and decided to watch ep 3 "live." I liked this episode better than the first two, perhaps because it was more classically written as a TV drama. They are still taking too many shortcuts in plot development to suit my taste.
Eliza definitely knows how to play a role. Given the range of acting she has brought to the show thus far, I can certainly see her as a more mainstream actress in the future. It was a refreshing relief after watching the "Death of Sarah Chronicles" the hour earlier.
I also enjoyed Episode 3! I'll admit - I want to love the show a little more than I do...is it because it's just "OK"? Is it because I'm nervous to fall in love only to be heartbroken by cancellation? I can't say...but Eliza definitely is bringing her A-game.
And the show is adding new elements weekly.
The Russian guy is a DOLL!!?!? Is his prime objective simply to throw the cop off? Give him cold leads? INTERESTING!
Even though the ratings are decreasing weekly, I think the quality/entertainment value of the show is increasing week to week! Fingers are crossed!
Oh, and I agree! Terminator as been sucking. Royally. If Fox is going to cancel a show...let Terminator die and give Dollhouse a little room to groove!

RSV, I want you to remember this post when Fox does their network upfronts and Dollhouse is no where to be found.
Shows with those numbers do not get renewed unless they are on cable (and it wold not have even made the top 20 cable shows last week.) Actually, the series has not stabilized so until it has an up or even week we can't really use the numbers. Like I said previously, this will settle in around 3.85 million as viewers continue to bleed off.
It would make a great show on Sci-Fi, but not Fox (and before everyone says "Ohhhh, someone will pick it up on another network" - Joss sounds like he is done with the show.)
I thought episode 3 was a step back, but did enjoy episode 2.

No, no...you're totally right. What I don't get is why Joss doesn't automatically go to Sci-Fi to begin with! haha Firefly totally could've thrived there. And yes...Joss seems rather pessimistic, but who can blame him! He gets **** on, time after time. Poor guy.
Though I'm not confident that Dollhouse will survive, I still like and enjoy it and will follow it through to the bitter end.
I watched Dullhouse last night and have come to the conclusion it is an interesting premise with poor follow through.
First of all, I could care less about the FBI side story. It is just filler at this point with no real bearing on anything. I expect this subplot will spin it's wheels for episodes on end.
Secondly, the delivery by most of the actors is so dull I find myself wondering if they are CGI recreations of actual beings with a computer generated analog voice. Sure, I understand that when the dolls are wiped they have no personality, but when you have to deal with these devoid characters for half the show, it becomes wearing.
Finally, the whole idea that they don't know what the buyer wants in a doll yet have the doll perfectly programmed to complete that specific mission is stupid. Yes, STUPID.

"Mr. Blah Blah, we have no idea what you want to do with the doll but the computer flagged you as dangerous and we are going to charge you more."
"Ok, here is your doll that we have no idea what you are going to do with, it just happens to be programmed to compete a vault heist and knows about fine art..."
I'm out. This show sucks. I now know why Fox put it on Friday night.

The ship is going down faster than I initially predicted...
Dollhouse (3/6/2009) - 3.50 million viewers, 1.5/5 demo
Yup. Totally getting cancelled. And it is Whedon's worst, for sure.
But hey - they can't all be grand slams like Buffy and Firefly =)
You do not have a lengthy counterpoint to offer?
You do not have a lengthy counterpoint to offer?
Sadly, at this time: I got nothin'. lol
Though I stand behind Eliza and Joss 100% in anything they do / ever will do - I can't sit back and pretend that the show is perfect, because it's far from it.
It'll be cancelled, and it'll arrive on DVD soon, I imagine...(and I'll buy it, of course).

Not sure how reliable this is, but it looks like ratings are up from last weeks episode, which got 3.5 mil. viewers.

Yes, the ratings went up by 900,000 viewers week to week. However, I personally have already written the series off. Maybe I'll netflix it at some point in the future...

That is an impressive bump following another lackluster 8 pm lead in. The episode was about the 1000th remake of the Waco, TX cult stuff. Yet, it was surprisingly watchable.
Next week is the episode "We will never forget!" dun dun dunnnn.....
I'm still diggin' the show but it needs a pivotal episode that will show us how unpredictable and exciting it's going to be down the line...hopefully next week's episode can make that happen.
Episode 6 of Dollhouse is getting CRAZY buzz around the net. It's apparently the one to watch! Dushku's been pimping it, Whedon's obsessed with it - it supposedly sets up the rest of the season and shows us what the show is capable of.
I reeeeeeeeally hope it's a knock out.
So rumor has it that Alpha will be played by.... "Dollhouse" Tv Series - The Name of Alpha has been revealed - Spoilers !

It has been getting two kinds of buzz.
1. Fans are saying it is where Whedon finally gets to do what he wants.
2. TV insiders are saying it is when FOX gave up and knew the show was doomed (so they let him do what he wanted.)
Take it as you will. :D

Even if #2 is accurate, maybe the episode will kick so much hater *** that everyone will bow down to Joss and Fox will BEG him to return next year.
Yanno.
Maybe...
ONE POINT WHEDON.
Ownage.
Triumph.
THAT is what Whedon can do.
That episode was SO GOOOOOOD. This show can go in 102839 different directions now.
I want to scream my love for that episode from a mountain top.
YES.
Thanks to Fox for forcing Joss to do stand alone episodes for the first 5. Smart move. Pause. NOT.
Going to be interesting to see how it did against the Battlestar Galactica Finale last night. Not like those shows have similar audiences, right?
I know which one I was watching. ;)
Edit: It only fell by 170,000 viewers.
I just watched it at Fox.com because it was not yet uploaded to hulu.com. For me, it was more satisfying than Battlestar Gallactica, which I watch on TIVO earlier today.

I think they should renew Dollhouse. Hell - renew it and put it on Fridays at 8 and cancel Terminator.
The show has potential. Last night proved it.

Heck, just cancel Terminator and take Dollhouse off of the friday lineup and put it elsewhere during the middle of the week! Wonder if it'll do better that way...
Four million viewers is not that good. :D
Well then I hope it's at least good enough to renew for another season....
