That should be renamed then because we aren't allowed to discuss them there.

?
Ok maybe I phrased that wrong. How about "The Challenge: Summer 2014 Discussion"? Because, it seems any discussion we have in the spoiler thread is considered "off topic". And like I said in my previous post, all we want is an area designated for such discussions.
The other thread is for actual spoiler discussion based on evidentiary findings.
This thread is for all the random stuff...
For instance, I think CT's dog might be on the challenge because I saw in a still photo on facebook a bag of purina dog chow and knowing CT, he is loyal and would not leave a poor dog home alone, thus the dog must be a missing cast member and my guess is his name is chuck as that is a popular dog name and he was eliminated in the upside down airplane challenge thing that was not suitable for dogs because there were no dog seatbelts and someone tweeted about dogs on twitter so I think he is home which means CT was eliminated yet CT has not been seen by a friend I know who has been to Boston once, which means there probably is a storage shed that all eliminated challenge people are being stored in somewhere in africa, I think.
Diem Brown Opens Up About Fighting Cancer for a Third Time - Us Weekly
Diem just gave an interview. It's an aggressive form of ovarian cancer that has spread to her stomach, stomach lining, and colon. I didn't even know it was possible for her to have ovarian cancer after her ovaries were removed... is there anyone who knows more about ovarian cancer who could offer some insight? Does this mean it's automatically stage 4?
The treatment plan seems to be to use chemo to shrink the tumors, remove as many as possible via surgery, and then use something called HIPEC.
Are there any survivor fans on here that like Redemption Island?
I 'like' Redemption Island. It was victimized by the casting in its debut on Survivor. And then Season 24 led to a discrepancy where redemption island was actually abused tbh, (being vague simply because I don't spoil things).
It worked out very well for Blood vs. Water which got critical acclaim, but even then the dynamics of that season catered to that format.
I do like redemption island but IMO it completely different because they don't get rewarded for losing a elimination, they get a chance to prove the tribe made a mistake and prove how strong they are.
No, they get a chance to stick around because they fell short in some aspect of the game. You don't return until merge in Survivor and then at final 4 (5 including you). So you're not proving anything to your tribe and it's the proprietary reason as to why the person who returns gets sent packing if possible.
Like I say I was told they eliminated people are just being film in the exile for MTV.com
That's what I see them doing to be honest lol
Bravo does a lot of online "extra snippets", much like MTV posts Bonus clips or in the past a summary clip. They may show it online which will mean about 12 hours of commercials before one toenail goes into the Exile Dome. Hhhhmm...that just came to me. Increased ad revenues. Ever try to watch an old season on MTV? It's worse than watching paint dry. People who have a team in the exile will watch the match online. Most will forget to do it but will probably go back and watch.
I am totally down with the "Redemption Island" (or EXile island) - The EX will need to be capitalized infact I wouldn't even be surprised if its not called Exes 2 but The Challenge: EXile

That doesn't always happen, see Laura M.

IMO it doesn't make sense to name it after something they won't even show.
This is a reality show and not an sport...They still have to show the drama/hookups and house dynamic to get better ratings especially on MTV.
If it's 10 minutes of exile, 15 mins of mission and 10 mins of elimination...The show only last 40-45 minutes without commercial. It's just pointless and I don't want to see those exiles on my TV screen and I am glad as of right now they are just going to be on MTV.com lol
Not sure if anyone is familiar with the WWE Network, but they'll do like extended episodes of Raw and stuff on their network so when the show ends, you need to tune into the website/app to watch the extended footage..... they could be doing something like at the end of the show they say, tune it to MTV.com now to Exile Island and they could even show drama on Exile, almost like a web series.
Hold up...we're under the impression that the "Exile" isn't going to be shown on the actual episode just online? Did I read that right?
Every day this get worse.

Not a doctor but the bold is what worries me.
Don't a doctor but the bold is what worries me.
Thank you carpedatdiem for posting that article. I'm not a doctor, either, but what you bolded kvm1977 makes much more sense than a new kind of cancer developing. I remember she was quite emphatic that after the first round w/Ovarian Cancer, she was cancer free. In a number of interviews she gave after Rivals II, she shared that she was told her cancer was "stable" this time and that she was not cancer free like the first time. If you remember Elizabeth Edwards, her breast cancer spread to her bones, liver and a number of other places. The best part for Diem is that there are so many great medicines coming out of clinical trials now that may help her immune system fight the cancer better.
This may be a little bit too much information but here is a description of the chemo described by Diem for this round: Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a cancer treatment that involves filling the abdominal cavity with chemotherapy drugs that have been heated. Also known as “heated chemotherapy,” HIPEC is performed after the surgeon removes tumors or lesions from the abdominal area.
Benefits of HIPEC
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has several benefits as compared to standard chemotherapy:
HIPEC is a single treatment done in the operating room, while standard chemotherapy requires multiple treatments
90% of the chemotherapy drug stays within the abdominal cavity, making it less toxic for the patient
It allows for a more intense dose of chemotherapy
Heated chemotherapy is used on both adult and pediatric patients to treat soft tissue sarcomas, appendix cancer, Wilms' tumor and other cancers in the abdominal cavity. MD Anderson was the first cancer center in the United States to use HIPEC on children with desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT), an extremely rare form of soft tissue sarcoma that causes hundreds of lesions in the abdomen. This therapy has doubled the survival rate of children with DSRCT as compared to standard chemotherapy treatment.
Side Effects
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy does have some side effects. Patients must be prepared to receive nutrition through a feeding tube or IV for about two weeks, while the digestive system recovers from the intense dose of chemotherapy.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It never gets me to tune it but it will work for the die hard fans of The Challenge.

They don't have the fan base to make that work...people have to be dedicated for that

This isn't entirely true. What WWE was doing with the Network was having things that were more along the lines of after shows, or better yet analysis similar to what you'd see after a sporting event. There was never really a continuation of anything after the show ended, save for one minor thing a few weeks ago that lasted about 2 minutes. While WWE has put full on shows on the Network, they've never done any CONTINUATION of the actual stories involved to their tv programs. These Exiles would be well above what WWE is doing with their Network in terms of companionship to the tv shows and probably would not have the fanbase willing to watch these online to justify it.
If anything, just get rid of the after shows on tv and replace them with the exiles and other footage since there was like 9 of them for Free Agents

I would be cool with that forget the after shows, show me the exiles
They don't have the fan base to make that work...people have to be dedicated for that
The point is for only dedicated fans to tune in online to watch. Majority of the viewers won't care because we are more interested in the drama aspect.
That doesn't always happen, see Laura M.
Laura M's preexisting relationship with returnees and the dynamics of the season allowed for that.
Redemption Island was rather successful on that season.
Just based off of the information we have now, nothing is anything different, regardless of the twist.
The point is for only dedicated fans to tune in online to watch. Majority of the viewers won't care because we are more interested in the drama aspect.
Again, this is a game about competition. To not show part of the competition is beyond idiotic. The assumption that the majority of the viewers care more about the drama aspect is simply dead wrong. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
Are there any survivor fans on here that like Redemption Island?
I do because they were voted off and not given a chance to fight for their lives.

Once again over a competition show this a REALITY SHOW on MTV, look at their hit shows and even which seasons of the challenge have been the most successful ones, which are the ones with the most drama...The assumption that just competition is going to bring ratings is dead wrong. A show without drama would get poor ratings and cancel on MTV it's not ESPN.

To use your line..."Once again" reality TV shows can be based on competition. Not showing part of the competition of a show is pure stupidity. Read the description you posted "compete against each other for the chance to win a cash prize". There is literally nothing mentioned about "drama" or anything resembling that. It is CLEARLY competition based which separates it from The Real World and countless others. It would be Survivor not showing Redemption Island or Big Brother not showing the Veto Competition. Reality shows can and are primarily about competition. The Challenge is no different. Competition creates drama. The "target audience" for this show is different than the others--BMP forgot this.
I see your point 99.99999999999% but you couldn't be more wrong about this.
I don't understand the point of having a twist that we aren't going to see on the show.
Correct--it doesn't make sense

Difference between Big brother and Survivor they are not on MTV, a total different demographic there. The casual viewers MTV want to attract is totally different from those shows and they need those casual viewers in order for The challenge to survived on MTV. A show on MTV without drama doesn't sell, simple as that once again look at the shows that have been successful on that channel and tell me which one didn't have drama to be a big part of it.
We will see how MTV incorporate this whole "exiles" twist into the show. If a big part of it is just online like I was told then I don't see the big problem for people that want to see it to check out online, you guys just make a big deal out of nothing. It keep the casual viewers entertain and attract them with the drama. While the ones that's into more competition have the chance to see more online.

The bold is the problem. They don't understand the audience that exists for this kind of a show and we've seen that over the past 6-8 years.

nmanderson, thank you so much for staying positive. I have to admit I've been feeling pretty down today after hearing this news. I saw some moron in the comments underneath where that article was posted was putting all of these negative comments about her chances of survival. People suck sometimes.
