No, it could make them curious or a lesbian depending on one's definition of the phrase "hook up". I have never been one to use it in the "Let's have a tickle party and smooch and tee hee" way. When I use it I mean in the all the way sense, though others seem to use it in the goo goo eyes way.
I love your terminology. :dirol:
I love your terminology. :dirol:
Me too...
I guess I would define hooking up, without being to vulgur, as making out, a little touching, maybe a pickle tickle and thats it, not going all the way.
I was thinking about where the challenges should go the next few seasons since it has been said they were running out of places. I think the next one will be somewhere tropical, like Puerto Rico or The Bahamas. Other places could be Madagascar, China, or Spain.

They need to go somewhere warm. *** sells. I don't want to see people parading around in parkas.

They went to New Zealand in the winter and Brooke, Davis and Ryan got it on in the hot tub! Also, Jenn and Rachel...
And Canada was cold.
I would really like the Challenge to take place in a funky locale, like Iowa or Laos.

New Zealand has a very odd winter.
I also believe they went in the spring.
I went around the same time they did and it wasn't that cold at all. 70's.
Alaska would be cool, as would somewheres in Africa. I think they need to change it up to a more outdoors adventures type format to give it new life. It is all academic at this point as I expect MTV to double down on The Real World and boot the Challenges.

It was snowing in New Zealand. There is a picture floating around, where there was snow on the ground in the back of their house. Plus at the Duels everyone was bundled up... definitely not in the 70's.
Also, The Czech Republic was cold, but the hot tub kept them warm. It would go down to the 60's. Not tropical weather.
I would like to see them go to some place really exotic like maybe Raxacoricofallapatorian but dealing with the Slitheen might put a wrench in the filming schedule.

Hearing TJ say Raxacoricofallapatorian would be enough to make me watch

Back in its prime, the challenges went to random places like Telluride, Colorado and New Mexico. I felt like those were just really out in the middle of nowhere.

I know. Both Telluride and New Mexico are in the middle of nowhere, but they aren't quite the "exotic" locales of the challenges past or present. I can't even imagine how the Gauntlet cast or BOTS II cast reacted when they found out the locations after knowing the previous casts went to an exotic location. Telluride and New Mexico are beautiful places, but they aren't Mexico or Jamaica.
I feel that was like what happened to the Chicago cast on The Real World. The previous cast went to Morocco, and they went to Boston. I remember Aneesa screaming (mockingly) we're going to Boston.
Gauntlet 2 is when they stepped up the locales. Trinidad and Tobago is awesome. The Australia, Brazil, South Africa... Just keeps getting cooler. Except for Canada. I am not putting down Canada. It's beautiful up there. But it's not a foreign, exotic or tropical locale. I wonder why they picked it?

Probably because they had just had the Olympics in BC.

What new seasons? There is only one remaining under contract.

I love Canada. Van is one of the best places I've visited. Plus, you can walk down the street burning and it's legal. Whistler's a big draw and it's a **** of a mountain to climb, if you're inexperienced, so I can see why they chose it.

Well we dont know where that one is going to be filmed yet. So I was just stating where I would like to see the Challenge go, and if it were to get renewed, after that.

To quote my childhood idol, Tonto: "What do you mean 'we,' kimo sabe?" :devil2:
If they reformat it, I would like to see the Challenges go on. If they don't, I would like to see them put on "Hiatus" for a few years (i.e. unofficially killed off) just in case things pick up and focus instead on The Real World and more scripted TV or more unscriptedish quasi-reality 1/2 hour shows like My Life as Liz. If I worked at MTV I would kill the Challenges even if the next one pulled in 3M+ viewers unless there was a fundamental change in the show as a whole.
Not to beat a dead horse, but to me a good part of the problem with the Challenges are the people on them. Very few of them ever seem to take the show seriously enough to promote it, or encourage their fans to watch, or bother to try to keep from spoiling the results, or behave in mature ways while on them. The formats are dated, the editing is mediocre, and the cast is filled mostly with spoiled brats. Maybe with some fresh ideas and cast members fresh off a few years out of the limelight toiling in ****** jobs could reinvigorate the show.

I always assumed the cast knows where they are going because they need to get visas and passports done in advance.
I always assumed the cast knows where they are going because they need to get visas and passports done in advance.
They have to have passports no matter where they are going, and the visas are likely arranged by production.
Did they used to tell them ahead of time? On the BOTS2 reunion, when Mike mentions that he only makes it to the end of a challenge if he hooks up with someone, Veronica says something like "someone's gonna be hooking up in Mexico..." which is where Inferno 2 took place.

The cast has no idea where they are going to go. The mystery is half the fun. They get clues like what type of clothes to bring, and what type of weather they will get, but that's it. Immunizations can be somewhat helpful, but for places like Africa, India, South America and Australia, many of the shots are similar. So it's not helpful. A country doesn't have a specific shot. They will get vaccines for Malariya and other dangerous diseases, but like I said before, you get the same shots for different countries.

Back then they would announce what the upcoming challenge would be before it even filmed.

Malaria doesn't have an effective vaccine...yet.
