Not sure if that's a dig at me, but I'm currently also an engineering undergrad so there lol.
It's not. Your track record here is only 40 comments deep, and, as such, is not yet statistically significant. As an engineering student, likely often mired in statistics, you would already know that your 40 comments at vevmo do not yet rise to a level of statistical significance to to hypothesize about your intellect. A simply content analysis, however, suggests you are weighting the average in a very positive manner.
Uh...yeah. I'd actually really like to see CT win one, but if that means Wes winning I'd rather just watch Johnny win again or see the rookies win.
You still want Johnny to win after all the pathetic displays of athleticism and now showing everyone he cant solve a puzzle in an hour?? Wes/CT deserve the win, any one that says other wise at this point is just speaking from bias. On rivals 1 wes/kenny & Johnny/Tyler came into the final equal, Kenny/Wes worked a bit more for it but on this one Wes/CT have been dominating the past few challenges by a lot and Johnny just keeps getting worse

CT/Wes have been the better team this season...I'm not denying that...I just don't like seeing Wes win. Sorry. As far as "pathetic" displays of athleticism I think that's a bit much. Johnny only performed poorly twice, one of which we don't actually know how poorly (the swimming), just that it was slower than CT, Wes, and Frank. I just listened to a podcast with TJ and on it he said that Johnny has consistently impressed him athletically and he thought Rampage was a fluke. "Pathetic" is a ridiculous thing to say.

Meh I'll stick with pathetic since I'm not a fan of him and since he thinks hes like a challenge god, TJ said he had no idea what happened on the rampage challenge basically saying he cant think of a good excuse for him. Id understand if it was only one fluke, say just the rampage challenge but he looked pretty bad in the water and admitted he sucked then for some reason he couldnt finish a puzzle?! CT/Wes did it, why couldnt Johnny/Frank?

Well that's fine. And just as your bias makes you want to call Johnny pathetic, my bias says I don't want to see Wes win, a guy who has ACTUALLY likened himself to a god on multiple occasions.

But Johnny is a pathetic basement dweller, so JL81790 has a point. ;)
Well, I don't think he has a lot of education being that he has been a reality TV star for a decade and I don't think academia and it crossover ever.
But, I agree that CT is no dummy (and never really was) and has played the game near flawlessly this season and CT/Wes might be my favorite duo of all partner challenges. Does anyone seriously want Johnny and Frank or Jordan and Marlon to beat them?
Yes. I'm rooting for Marlon/Jordan to beat CT/Wes and Frank/Johnny.
I thought it was absolutely dumb that the third place teams just get eliminated. They should see a whole final if they made it. I hate when the final is cut up like that. And its annoying because whoever gets third for the guys could have easily won the whole thing but they are getting eliminated because of a puzzle.
And as for the **** they should have shown, I thought it was hilarious. Johnny making fun of Cara was funny because all she does is want attention. Every guy/girl seems to be obsessed with Nany LOL. Also their workout cheers were just hysterical. Also Jemmye looked really pretty on it.
Pot, meet Miss Kettle. Johnny, aka "Mr. I can dish it out but can't take it", I'm so over seeing him on the challenges.

Haha, absolutely not. But he does see every competition and doesn't have a stake in who wins. I think that people were just so eager to watch Johnny lose a step that he puts up 2 subpar performances and now everyone's saying that he's always been a terrible competitor. It was just an example of someone who's actually there vouching for the guy's athleticism.

I've already commented in another thread about my feelings for TJ. Does he even talk about any the females on this show, the athleticism they may have demonstrated, or is it all about the guys? Did he ever comment on Johnny's outrageous treatment of Evelyn on the Island? I certainly recall him calling out Evelyn when he didn't approve of some of her actions in the past. Same goes for Camilla when she had her meltdown. He may not have a stake in who wins or loses, but he definitely has his favorites, and they are ALWAYS men.
So disappointed in this finale already.... it doesnt even seem like a finale challenge. and i hate that they narrowed it down to 2 teams each gender. I love finals like Rivals 1 and Battle of the Exes
Watching the most recent afterbuzztv really helped with the clarity of the puzzle section of the Final and why Wes said they had a 1.5 hr lead on twitter. Camila said they had an hour for EACH puzzle, which means that CT & Wes finished with 30 minutes remaining for the 2nd puzzle while the other 2 teams had to finish the 2nd puzzle and wait the hour for the 3rd one.

I so agree with you. TJ is a misogynist who is only impressed with aggro dudes who define the 1995 picture of masculinity. Since BMP is probably reading this, put Mark Long and Coral as alternating hosts from now on and ditch this loser who only ever appealed to a niche audience in the last decade. Thanks.
What podcast was this?
I think people just despise Johnny so much that if he doesn't do the best they say he sucks. It's getting ridiculous. Johnny's one of the best competitors. The END.
Yes. I'm rooting for Marlon/Jordan to beat CT/Wes and Frank/Johnny.
Me Too.
If the rookies and Paula/Emily can both win, then I would be ecstatic.

From what I have gathered, the ladies find TJ to be very attractive.

There is a lot of sucking up to TJ from the cast, because that is what is expected of them. Many of them, however, see him for what he is. South Africa, post-challenge, comes to my mind whenever I hear his name.

I liked this even though I disagree with your statement about CT/Wes. I really want them to win.
I would definitely prefer Marlon/Jordan to win even though I root for Johnny...I just have little faith that, even though every final is different, that a team of new people are capable of winning on their first try. The only real exception in recent years being Battle of the Seasons when basically the whole group was first timers. The vets, regardless of their physical shape, all just seem to have a gear in them mentally that they know how to better navigate a final. Marlon and Jordan are probably the most well-rounded pair there but if they ran the race against either CT/Wes or Johnny/Frank I'd bet on the other team all day, just because I feel like nothing would shock them or throw them off at this point. Of course, I may be entirely wrong.
My thoughts/reactions on this latest episode:
- Heartbreaking to see Aneesa lost. Despite most of the attention being on Diem, this is by far her best showing on any show - evolving from the initial "just happy to be there & party" competitor to getting her *** in gear and preparing for this show. I watched her (hilariously) drift off due to a current on The Duel 2, and this season she was kicking all types of ***. Good show Aneesa.
- CT & Diem embracing was nice to watch too. Despite it all, they have a connection with one another and because of what they've mostly repaired on Exes, they'll be there for each other no matter what. Except when it comes to deliberations of course.
- Leave it to Paula to have Emily catch her paranoia. It's contagious.
- How happy was I when they revealed they were going to Tokyo? A city Challenge. It's literally one of the only terrains they've never done in the past few Challenges. We've seen mountains, jungles, glaciers, deserts, whatever the hell Cuthroat was, but no City. That would've been an entertaining final.
- NINJAS! Aka, one of the funnest things to yell, ever.
- So wait, they're not going to Tokyo? In the words of Cara Maria, "BALLS!"
- Super Yacht. I've heard that mentioned more than enough times in a lifetime for me. Super Yacht.
- I think deep down Camila & Jemmye knew they still would've gotten third. Maybe second. Maybe. Emily would've had to been eaten alive by some wild animal for them to come in first. It's a shame, third means $7500 a piece. Which turns into like, $3,500-$4,000. That's good for a month or so.
- Anyone else tried to figure out a strategy to doing the puzzles in their head? I figured they could start with building a 3 x 3 surface, and then tried doing it 3 more times. Or try to make a cube, and then build around that. Sarah would've been great at this. I thought Frank would've done much better.
- CT & Wes win. And now Johnny becomes the 2nd person in history to be bested by CT at a puzzle.
- I'd hate if I were the 3rd place team, because it doesn't even give you a chance to redeem yourself. You just lose and you have to accept it. They could've made up some time if they were left to continue, but that sucks.
After the disgraceful mess that was last week's episode, in which Diem was portrayed as an irrational mess and Cooke was portrayed as the Good Lord's gift of chillness and composure to us mere mortals through editing tricks and a veritable narrative rape of context, we have part one of the final. NOT SO FAST THOUGH. Diem and Aneesa have to defeat Camila and Jemmye, a team so incompetent and off-kilter that their exercise in teamwork should serve as a lesson in what not to do in an elimina- wait, they won? You're ******* with me. You're pulling my leg. No, you're ripping my leg right the **** off and kicking my *** with my own leg. You're lying.
OK, so you didn't lie... Camila and Jemmye won. Nothing left to do but concede that they won it fair and square. Aside from a quip from Cooke about wanting Diem to leave because of the drama from earlier, that went pretty clean. There was even some open-ended resolution between CT and Diem that the audience craves because they are the will-they-won't-they of reality. Personal side note: I ******* despise the will-they-won't-they romance as a narrative tool. It's been over-*******-done. I like my romances like... hm... Simba and Nala. Simba ******* disappears after Scar kills Mufasa, but Simba and Nala's childhood love is SO POWERFUL that when they reunite after all those years, their feelings for each other are STRENGTHENED like a piece of oak. And then they have lion sex while Timon and Pumba sing about losing their bro to some lion ho. That's how I like my romances... More or less... BUT I DIGRESS. Diem and Aneesa are gone. ONWARD TO THE FINAL.
Everyone is enthralled by themselves at this point. Everyone who is left, DESERVES TO BE IN THE FINAL. All the adversity they endured, all the alcohol production force fed them, all the sex they had but didn't want to have but had anyway, all the clubbing, all the drinking again, ALL OF IT, led to this. No one has ever deserved to be anywhere more than these dirty dozen deserve to be in the final. CT and Johnny double-dutch rudder-ing each other about how they are old school and epic was particularly touching. A double dutch rudder is where two bros grab each others' ***** and jack each other off, for those of you not in the know. It was moving. And then they shook hands. THEY'VE SEEN IT ALL. THEY'VE BEEN THERE AND BACK. CHAMPIONS THROUGH AND THROUGH. Except CT, who has never won one of these. I think CT is less like Dan Marino and more like Ron Artest, except that Ron Artest won a championship, and CT hasn't yet. Something like that...
TJ tells 'em they are goin' to Tokyo. They start to fantasize about how this final is going to be SO ******* DIFFERENT. They're gonna have to NAVIGATE THE ******* CITY. RUN UP AND DOWN FLIGHTS OF STAIRS IN SKYSCRAPERS. All kinds of crazy ****. And as they get on the bus to leave, TWO CREEPER VANS COME OUT OF NOWHERE. And out of the vans come NINJAS. Ninjas are known to be a huge menace in Thailand, so I understand their fear and trepidation. I was secretly hoping that CT would go rage mode and knock out the first ******* ninja to board the bus. NINJA KIDNAPPERS? NOT ON CHRIS TAMBURELLO'S WATCH. Adorably, and predictably, it is merely a ruse by TJ. There is no Tokyo trip. The final starts NOW. And TJ's minions proceed to put black bags over the heads of the cast members in order to properly simulate what it is like to be Americans in a foreign country kidnapped by terrorists.
The final begins with a mile long swim to a puzzle, that must be complete in order to retrieve a key from a box to unlock the kayak that you will then use to paddle to a "super-yacht" in order to advance to the next round. The **** is a "super-yacht"? I thought there was just... yacht. In any case, I want an ultra-mega yacht. The third place team of both respective sexes gets SENT THE **** HOME. The second Wes sees that swimming is involved, the ******** he displays is so apparent that this episode should be reviewed by the FCC. Meanwhile, Cara Maria responds in the same way that I would respond if someone put chemical castration pills in my morning coffee: despair. But she must swallow this truth, though it may be hard to stomach, kind of like the tainted coffee.
The swimming doesn't prove to be THAT huge a factor: it's only a mile, and the gap between competitors is a couple minutes at most. The puzzle proves to be the hard part. I really liked this idea. Because everyone on this challenge jokes about how everybody else is super dumb and incapable of pattern recognition and ****. And I like to see if certain prejudices are true or not. Apparently, CT and Wes have more than 3 brain cells between them because they finish well ahead of everyone. Or maybe Johnny and Frank have less than 3 brain cells between them? Dunno. Cooke and Cara overcome Cara's swimming problem by completing the puzzle ahead of the other girls. Not gonna lie, they are surprising me the last couple episodes. I honestly thought this Emily and Paula could win this thing on autopilot. Apparently not. Paula and Emily are the next team to finish, so Camila and Jemmye are done. Jemmye keeps talking about how she could not imagine a worse situation to be in. I could imagine one for her: a beloved family member is held hostage and you have one of two options, do nothing and said family member is executed, OR, they could live, but ONLY if she was forced to EAT HER OWN FACE. That's real ******* horror. That leaves Jordan and Marlon, and Johnny and Frank. Neither team completes the puzzle, but Johnny and Frank have a two minute head start, since they completed the swimming part of it ahead of Jordan and Marlon. And off they go! Jordan and Marlon are in tow behind them, but it seems like Johnny and Frank are a little too far ahead, until the kayak capsizes! HOLY ******* SHI-
To be continued, 'cause, you know... BMP.
