Personally I've never observed any male bias from him. But his little rants on quitters have bothered me. They tend to come off as somewhat arrogant to me.
Neither have I. I've seen him tell female cast members quite a few times (Susie, Melinda when she lost to Emily, Katie when she fell on Cutthroat, Lacey on her first challenge all come to mind off the top) how proud he was of how they did and I've seen him call out male competitors for mistreating the girls (Frank and Zach towards Sam last season during endurance/puzzle challenge was one). I also recall, from the dailies, when Shauvon was attempting to quit, TJ wasn't yelling at her, he was trying to get her to stay and compete until it was a lost cause. I think people just see what they want to see, or else maybe he said something to one of their favorites and they're bitter.

I can't remember it clearly, but didn't TJ tear Big E apart for quitting on Camila?
The Tonya thing as a viewer and the way they have edited her it's accurate.
Complete BS. BMP was already in "protect our *** " mode and TJ played right along with it.
I love how Johnny and CT said good luck before the final and the respect that they had for each other. It is nice that they can fight but get over and be friends.
Tj hates Evelyn he bashed her for quitting then called her a baby when she cried for losing fresh meat 2
I love Ev as a competitor but she did throw the elimination to KellyAnne and deserved to be criticized for it. You know she would have criticized someone else for doing it.
She did act like a baby when she lost to Landon.
Honestly, the truth isn't a bad thing...I believe TJ also made it clear during both "speeches" that he felt Ev was an elite competitor and never thought he'd see her react the way she did.
Personally I've never observed any male bias from him. But his little rants on quitters have bothered me. They tend to come off as somewhat arrogant to me.
His rants on quitters are ALWAYS much harsher when directed at the females than the males. Wes and CT quit the XXX games and he was half laughing when he admonished them. That is just one example.

There is a huge difference between quitting in a meaningless challenge vs what Big E or Trishelle did. Tell me how many guys have quit as bad as Trishelle did? Not one guy quitter other than Big E had such a terrible quit. At least Big E quit in the middle of a difficult challenge unlike spoiled brat Trishelle.
TJ did admonish CT/Wes by penalizing them in the next challenge. Thats how much he hates quitters.
Not many have quit on the show. I never thought he favored men over women or anything. He didn't bash trishelle for quitting on this season. The Tonya thing as a viewer and the way they have edited her it's accurate. Who else did you want him to say?
When Beth refused to compete against Aneesa on Guantlet 2 he lectured her about quitting. When Cameron conceded to Kina on Guantlet 2 he got nasty with her as well. When Evelyn gave Kelly Anne the win in The Ruins he lectured her as well. On The Island he had nasty words for Ashli, who had a serious wound in an unsanitary environment, when she left. When Dustin left Battle of the Exes it was all, sorry buddy you have to go it's not safe. He ALWAYS has an opinion, usually negative, about the females, but rarely if ever, the males.

Evelyn gave the win to Kelly Anne because she didn't want to deal with the BS that was surely heading her way. Coming off the extremely negative experience that was The Island, I can't say that I blame her. Remember the abuse was so horrendous and so over the top that BMP couldn't even air it. I remember reading that when the series aired. What we saw, which was beyond offensive, was mild compared to what Evelyn actually experienced. Seeing how production protected Kenny and Evan for a horrendous act perpetrated on Tonya, I'd say Evelyn was wise to make the choice that she did. These challenges are not an even playing field where the best competitor wins. Production has their favorites and they will do whatever they can to see that those competitors succeed at the expense of other cast member.
How nice of TJ to acknowledge that Evelyn is an elite competitor. What a great guy.

You can bash TJ all you want--doesn't alter what happened.
Evelyn quit BC she wanted nothing to do with her jerk of a team
And TJ then said something along the lines of "her hatred of her team was stronger than her desire to win"...which was accurate.

Dustin didn't quit--he was removed due to injury. Eric was lectured--guys simply "quit" less often.
TJ, like me, simply wants people to show up and try. To actually compete. Which is why he gives credit to everyone that tries. See Melinda even though Emily crushed her. See Katie countless times.

Thank you. And TJ didn't just go off on Ashli because she hurt herself...he went off because she took a spot in a face off when she could barely walk, essentially handing keys to two other people when there were real competitors there like Evelyn who wanted to compete. In fact Evelyn pretty much agreed with TJ and said the same stuff to Ashli when she voted her off.
This is also the season where TJ called Dave soft and told him challenges aren't for the weak willed when he quit. But yeah...misogynist.
And TJ then said something along the lines of "her hatred of her team was stronger than her desire to win"...which was accurate.
Her desire to be treated with dignity and respect was greater than her desire to win. I would say that is the more accurate statement.
What I don't get is how Chet had a concussion and had to go home but Melinda didn't when she got one.
Concussions differ in severity. Melinda must have had a lesser concussion than Chet's. I know they both went to the hospital where they would run several tests to determine the severity of the concussion. Also, symptoms of a concussion can be more severe than others. For example, if Chet was constantly dizzy or vomiting, production would be able to let him continue. Insurance would also be something that comes up in these matters.
it would perhaps make sense, but she didn't so...
My favorite thing is when you swoop in and shoot down that particular accusation. It kind of disgusts me that people are so hung up on it and, even further, willing to state it so matter-of-factly.
I have mad love for Camila. She's hilarious on the show, a great competitor, and then she goes and does interviews like the one on Afterbuzz where she talks about everything in a real/honest way. Still sad that she and Jemmye didn't get to see the rest of the final.

Exactly! Why wasn't Ashli removed? Dustin had an open wound which could expose him to harmful bacteria and therefore he was removed. Why didn't production show the same consideration to Ashli? Hmmmm because it didn't jive with the agenda. So, let's let the girl compete and then trash her when she asks to be voted out. When Abram asked to be voted out what was TJ's response? Did Abram receive the same lecture? Ashli asked to go because she realized she couldn't compete. What was Abram's excuse? Why didn't TJ lecture Kenny and Johnny about blocking Evelyn's attempt to compete. Can't do that, especially when we have a female right here, at our disposal, to blame.

Semantics
Exactly! Why wasn't Ashli removed? Dustin had an open wound which could expose him to harmful bacteria and therefore he was removed. This entire response is illogical. First, "exactly" doesn't work with anything that follows. As the years went on they got more strict with "injuries"...see Evan during Fresh Meat--he'd have been sent home 3+ episodes earlier now.
You're seeing "agendas" that don't exist--at all. It's actually frightening. The comment about Kenny and Johnny keeping Evelyn out is laughable. You want TJ to criticize them for a smart strategic move? Really?
Semantics
Well, let's see, she didn't have a problem with Wes, Syrus, Darrell, Katie, Ibis, Veronica or Tonya so no I don't think it was semantics at all, TJ got it wrong.
Why didn't TJ lecture Kenny and Johnny about blocking Evelyn's attempt to compete. Can't do that, especially when we have a female right here, at our disposal, to blame.
Why would he do that when he a) doesn't stand there and watch the vote and b) everyone but Evelyn and one other person voted for Ashli to go in...why would he single out Kenny and Johnny? I just watched that scene again...Ashli is saying that she wants to go in. She wasn't thrown to the wolves.
Well, let's see, she didn't have a problem with Wes, Syrus, Darrell, Katie, Ibis, Veronica or Tonya so no I don't think it was semantics at all, TJ got it wrong.
Interesting--all of them were on board with what happened other than Wes

"Exactly" does fit with the discussion, which is about the different ways that men are treated versus women. A man has an open wound and he is removed. A woman has an open wound and she is chastised for asking to be voted off. Oh wait, that's right, we didn't know about harmful flesh eating bacteria in 2008, yeah right. What about when Abram asked to be voted off? I noticed you didn't address that, hmmmmm?
If TJ is going to insert himself into the game dynamics, which he did when he chastised Ashli for taking a face off spot that another cast member could have used, then he should at least be impartial about it, which he wasn't. That is why I mentioned Kenny and Johnny blocking Evelyn from competing.
Interesting--all of them were on board with what happened other than Wes
They weren't running the team. Johnny, Kenny, Evan, Suzie and Johanna were calling the shots.
They weren't running the team. Johnny, Kenny, Evan, Suzie and Johanna were calling the shots. Syrus even said that the women should be able to call out whoever they want, just like the men.
They agreed--Katie in particular. They all wanted to get rid of KellyAnne--don't kid yourself--it was a team decision. Ev and Wes simply weren't part of the team--even Wes admitted it was a smart move.

If they had gone to Evelyn and explained to her what they wanted to do I think she would have been on board with it. They didn't give her that consideration, they blindsided her. How can you not see that?
